I think Fuggla maybe done for his career. He has been on a DOWNWARD trajectory for two years now and it’s not getting better, it’s getting MUCH WORSE. He has been a huge drag on the team and rally killer for TWO SOLID MONTHS now. How much longer will Fredi keep “running him out there” when it’s painfully obvious that Fuggla is completely lost and needs some time in the minors to get his swing back. If he can get it back at all.

Got to disagree with that (though I’m not an Uggla hater). Had never posted an OPS under .800 before he came to the Braves.

.764 last year, and .721 this year, is indeed a decline, and I am concerned about it. Maybe he goes on a huge tear and pulls it way up this year, but more likely he just ‘normalizes’ this year and finishes around .750. With three years left, it is a concern, but not one we can do much about.

While he’s certainly well within his rights to do what he’s doing, it would be kind of entertaining to see how much of a reaction that would get from the fans at Turner Field (and maybe get them to show up before first pitch).

The Dempster deal could just be a reset for everyone, which might be good for the Braves or the Dodgers. The Cubs may not get a player like Randall Delgado, if the Braves back out. The Cubs have to hope the Dodgers want Dempster more than they are letting on and will come close to matching the Braves offer, at this point. Otherwise, it looks to me like Braves back out and everything starts over with Dempster trade value lower than it was 30 hours ago or so.

No idea. If I were to put odds on it, I would say they likely wouldn’t have gotten very far. But that’s the thing about having a 1-game, 5-game, or even 7-game playoff series determine the fate of a 162-game season. Hell with trading for players. Addition by subtraction would do wonders.

SUBTRACT Uggla from the lineup, move Prado to 2B

ADD Constanza to LF. Worst case scnario he hits just as crappy as Uggla, but can track down fly balls and actually score from 2nd on a single.

SUBTRACT Jurrjens from the 25 man roster. Release him. Goodbye. So long now.

ADD Kris Medlen into the rotation.

Would we then be a playoff team? Likely not. But little to now doubt simply subtracting Uggla and Jurrjns from their positions would make this team better.
