Page 49 of this blog is certainly not worth reading….wow. Pure gibberish.

I’m out at home thanks to a devastating lightning strike that took out this and that and nearly scared me to death.

So unless I get some things fixed this afternoon, you lucky folks won’t have to read my whining tonight!!

IF the Braves do indeed have a deal with Batista, then I have a question.

Since when do you sign a guy who is 4 days removed and DFA for organizational depth? DFA of less than 10 days requires you to deal with the team that DFA’ed him. More than 10 days then he’s free to sign with anyone. I can see the Braves signing him with only two intentions. One, immediately join the Braves pen. Or two, go to the minors to work on something and call up soon.

Organizational depth? Nope, not even a candidate for that. If he’s going to the minors, I’ll bet a hundred the guy has an out clause that says if he’s not with the big club in a few weeks, he’s free to go his own way. That’s not what a “organizational depth” guy does.

“The Braves are not going after Greinke…NO surprise…I feel SORRY for Chipper Jones”

Yeah..that’s really who I feel bad for. All that dedication and can’t be rewarded by adding an Ace to this staff that would push them over the hump and take them deep into postseason play.

i agree that wren should get alot of credit for getting sheets. but that move isnt as difficult as making a trade. good trades are pretty tuff.

No pitcher will push us over any hump…

Only sustained, consistent, solid hitting will do that.

This team has proven to date that it isn’t capable of that.

This. Very confused about this signing if it is true. Probably can trade an insignificant prospect (like Salary Relief) for him though…

Nope. DFA just means the club that designated him has 10 days to decide whether to trade him, release him or place him on waivers. It’s basically a way to remove a player from your roster while you decide what to do.

Bautista was designated for assignment early in the week and release later in the week.

The Mets released the 41-year-old right-hander yesterday after designating him for assignment. He was released after he was DFA’d. Available for any team to sign him at league minimum.

Maybe the Braves are going after RH Hairston….But Batista sucks…He’s an older version of Manny Acosta

No, I’m not concerned about what they Braves give up for him. I’m sure it’s insignificant. I was just rebutting the idea that he will be signed to fill a uniform in the minor league organization. There are too many players out there who didn’t just get cut from a big league roster to do that without signing this guy.

…actually the club has 10 days to trade, release or place the player on waivers…not do decide.

Great! If the Braves have moved away from mortgaging their future just to have a better chance to make the playoffs this year, then I am happy. Don’t agree with Batista at all, but don’t even know if he’s gonna be part of the bullpen as of yet. Still, it seems that Medlen will be joining the rotation and that ‘ll be a plus. Hopefully Wren will address the bench in an effective manner and not get a dud or two as it appears he has done with Batista. I still have no idea why that move was made. Anyway, I can accept not going to the playoffs if it means we have better options next year and beyond.

Nice article, DOB.
Surprised I don’t see post after post calling you a “HATER!!!” (in regards to Struggla’s damning numbers).
Again, all the talk is about acquiring another starter. Meanwhile, the offense clicks *here and there* with the usual suspects doing very little to help the cause, and no talk of cutting loose the dead weight.
But hey, as long as they put butts in the seats and keep their TV contracts, all is well?
