Jaded…..
You look at the Marlins roster……how talented it is…..and they cannot win consistently. Look at Reyes….the shortstop……he is the ultimate ME player……and the impact he has had on both the Mets (much better without him) and now the Marlins. Team chemistry is very important….and it has nothing to do with being made up with nice guys or not. It has to do with players getting along with each other and motivating each other. That is not a problem on the Braves team. Pitching is. But you do not bring in a pitcher that will severely upset team chemistry….and Garza would…believe me. And Dempster probably would now….based on his response to the trade news…..I would think. TIme to move on for another pitcher….or send JJ back to AAA and move Medlen into the rotation….which I think the Braves should have done in the first place…..and trade for a good reliever in his final contract year or not.

I have a question and it’s not meant to pertain to Dempster at all, just a thought that came into my head. Let’s say a player has full no trade protection language in his contract (not 10/5) and that player is traded to team A and he approves the trade. Does that no-trade remain valid if team A decides later on in the same season they want to trade him to another team?

Would anyone here trade a 22 year old pitcher with a live arm and tons of potential for a 35 year old pitcher with a 117-120 (.494 winning percentage) record and a lifetime 4.31 ERA? Well, that’s what some of you are holding your breath for waiting to hear the great Ryan Dempster approve a trade to the Braves so he can be with us for a few months and then take a west coast offer as a free agent. Oh, and BTW, the current NL ERA leader has 0 complete games and 0 shut outs in this, his break out year. Braves management needs to withdraw their offer of Delgado and look elsewhere.

If Dempster is not in Atlanta Fumbling Frank should be fired. He makes the organization look terrible.
I miss the logic of how a decision made by Ryan Dempster is Wren’s fault. Seems to me that Frank did what he supposed to do: agree on compensation with the trading partner.

Anyone who has watched Minor pitch in his last two games against the Nationals and Marlins…..has to believe the kid is very talented and is figuring it out. He is a good 5th starter at this point in his career (with the potential to become a very good 3rd starter)…..but unfortunately….he is the 3rd starter for the Braves already.

I was all in favor of going for Dempster. But I now think the Braves should withdraw this trade and look for another player. Let LA have him and go after Greinke or Johnson, though I doubt Miami would trade him to us.

Wait. I thought yesterday we were all complaining that Delgado for Dempster was way too much to give up and would set the organization back years. Now we are upset that the trade “leaked” and Dempster might veto the trade as a result? Just trying to make sure I’m on the right side of anger here.

No way Frank would have known that Dempster would veto the trade…..and no way you think he would since Dempster had told the Cubs that the Braves would be one of the teams he would accept a trade to. And…by the way…..Dempster does love playing in Chicago….with all that tradition. Anyone see him mimicking Harry Carry on ESPN…..HOLY COW!

Tampa, I would submit that the Marlins’ problems have more to do with the fact that their bullpen has been horrible, Josh Johnson has been set back by injuries, and Gaby Sanchez was a complete bust.
Team chemistry is important, I guess, but talent is more important. The A’s in the 1970s had horrible chemistry. Their players got in locker room brawls almost daily. But they won championships. However much of a headache Garza might be, he didn’t prevent the Rays from getting to the World Series in 2008.

Delgado for a Dempster 2-month rental would have perceptions problems at minimum for Wren.
I think Dempster’s dithered enough. The Braves should withdraw the offer, if possible.

Johnson was unhittable last night….and under contact still with the Marlins for next year. No way they trade his valuable talent unless a team gives up a couple of really outstanding established players along with a couple of prospects. I heard the Red Sox are trying to do exactly that with blockbuster deal involving Carl Crawford (who would love to return to Florida I think).

Really? That surprises me. I wouldn’t think a player’s agent, of all people, would want to give their client negative publicity like this.
Then again, I’m a Braves fan. Don’t know how this sort of thing is perceived elsewhere.

Quit worrying so about Uggla. He’s not the first nor will he be the last player with a long term lucrative contract to “slump” like this. You can be certain his “slump” will miraculously end at the start of his contract year. In the meantime, he’s getting his check regularly.

Every Game we are down by at least 2 runs by the 3rd Inning…I usually Just Turn it off and and Find other things to watch on TV, obviously i’m checking the phone for game updates
But only having 1 hit after 7 innings last nite didnt give many people hope…

Tell Chipper to worry about the offense…>Mike Minor is pitching his tail off (3 runs in last two games) and the people paid to hit are giving him no run support. Last night it was the Umpires fault for the call in the 9th inning, even though the Braves had struck out 12 times by the 9th inning and Chipper was two of those K’s.

Wren should rescind the offer.
I’m not sure if Wren legal can rescind the offer, at least until a certain period of time has passed. It’s like when you are negotiating to buy a house…you put in your offer, and they have 24 hours to respond to you. If they accept within that 24 hours, you are contractually obligated to the offer you made.
Although I would bet that the window on any offer the Braves made is closing soon, at least from a legal obligation stance.

I think Delgado was too much to pay for a two month rental. Now they want another minor leaguer as well. Wrenn is getting fleeced again. And we certainly dont want someone on the team who wants to be somewhere else. Forget Dempster and play the young guys. There will be some growing pains but we will be better off in the long run.

Apparently he slipped in through the bathroom window over the weekend and they’ve been trying to get rid of the infestation ever since. From what I understand this whole “Dempster Waffling” episode is a cover up as the Cubs try to build a bio-hazard room to contain JoJo.
