that bunt didn’t work so well. I thought it was automatic?
Wouldalmost laugh if Dempster ends up staying with the cubs. I bet the cubs FO is really pissed with the guy.
if a dp happens, I’m going to bed
Jaded: that sounds like a very plausible explanation
Chipper is the only Braves player to have walked more this year than he has struck out at least up until a week or so not positive about that now after Johnson got him a couple times.
Right now Dan should not be hitting higher than 7th and that’s only because we don’t have Andy.
Good baserunning by Janish getting in there at 3rd on that play.
So bases loaded with one out lets see what is Prado’s approach is.
i hate to watch.
July 24th, 20128:17 pm
Can they manage to F this up?
Uggla = Bust
3 guaranteed outs with Uggla, Janish , and the pitcher du jour. On second thought, the ptcher du jour probably has a higher average than Uggla or Janish. Maybe we should hit the pitcher 7th.
Typical Idiot Blogger
Game over, man…Braves can’t possibly ovecome this massive le–oh…
ill take it….sick of not being able to get hits with risp tho
Just a couple days after many of us lauded Hudson’s ability to bunt when others like Platerknuckles were failing, and Timmy goes and does that!
Greinke being real tough against the Phils (division foe, Wren ….)
July 24th, 20128:18 pm
A productive out by Prado, good job! Thats what a major league hitter is suppose to do!
Come on, Jason……
par for the course of this season, no hit, but I’ll take it
Good job, Martin!
July 24th, 20128:19 pm
how come we always have a LHed hitter batting against a lefty pitcher in the clutch? Can we get a righty please?
I would definitely behitting Uggla eighth, maybe even ninth. He’ll put up some numbers and that will bode well for the braves. but, this slump and the one last year have been brutal to watch.
I ‘d never bat him higher than fifth and that reluctantly.
3 guaranteed outs with Uggla, Janish , and the pitcher du jour
Even though Huddy and Janish both have hits tonight…
July 24th, 20128:20 pm
I like Prado and Jason in situations like this. At least they look like they have a clue. Uggla swings at the first 3 pitches and pray he gets a hit! I also like Chipper of course in this situation.
Joe Simpson is such a clown. This mister “know it all” is so typical of the braves organization. A guy they could get cheap, and one that has no talent or experience when it comes to doing his job. But he is a superstar compared to the pretty boy or should i say the clown that thinks he is a pretty boy. This cheerleader knows nothing about baseball, and if it weren’t for his father and grandfather he would never have a job with any major league baseball team. But the braves organization once again could hire a clown that was on the cheap. Wish big mouth Simpson would go down to the field after the game and challenge Reyes. That would be much more entertaining than watching this team play
July 24th, 20128:21 pm
other teams would have this pitcher in the showers by now.
That wasn’t a single…waahhh!
Good job Jason!
Great AB J-HEY!!!!
Great At Bat Jason!
July 24th, 20128:22 pm
That Janish sure is an automatic out.
How’d he get on third and score that last run? Reach on error? Pinch run? Strike out and wild pitch?
Helluva AB by Heyward.
gotta take advantage of those hanging breaking balls
that a boy chip
Old F@rt will pop up
one run, yey
A ten-pitch AB for Jason. Wow!
Impressive at bat, Chipper!
ugh, kissing our sister
Would be nice to get a run with a hit sometime.
missed opportunities,,, lets see how this game ends up. We got our horse on the mound, and the other teams starter against the ropes, should be able to pull this one out.
@VJ……Agree, hard to believe their point of reference and intent—not worth the time.
July 24th, 20128:23 pm
wow 1 run
I REALLY, REALLY HATE RUGGIANO
nolie … I thought uggla was a righty.
Uggla is probably saying one of Yogi Berra’s famous quotes: “Slump? I aint in no slump, I just aint hittin the ball”.
July 24th, 20128:24 pm
Chipper! The first pitch? Really??? That’s why this team should not waste valuable arms for a starter on a team that has no clue about hitting on a consistent basis. Bases loaded, first pitch hitting is bush league.
Braves playing with fire with these runners all over the place
If all else fails with this pitching staff, start Hudson, Hanson, Sheets, Minor, Medlin. release JJ! Delgado might be a 2 or 3 inning relief pitcher. If Sheets start to go bad, bring upTerran. I have never been a fan of the rental pitcher situation. Go with what you have and see what happens.
I like that!
I think Wren will end up acquiring Greinke and signing him to an extension. Seems like the stars are aligning. I mean with the Dempster fiasco, it was stated that other teams have been calling Braves knowing they are willing to include one of the top pitching prospects. I think a deal for Greinke could happen before or at the trade deadline next week.
July 24th, 20128:25 pm
Again, bases loaded, and a single run… Seems like old times. When this game is over, endujng with another Braves loss, they can look back at their inept at bats. Wow. No clutch on this team.
6:55pm: It’s possible that the Dodgers could acquire Dempster from the Cubs without having to surrender Lee, a source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com (Twitter link).
I hope fans boo him this August.
Left the bases loaded AGAIN – gonna come back and bite us.
Bourn says F*** you, Ruggiano
that is a good way to break a wrist.
July 24th, 20128:26 pm
brvsgrl4life……i dont like ruggiano either but none of his catches have been “amazing” catches….they’ve been fairly routine for mlb level imo….but i understand where ur comin from lol
Dump the DEMPSTER and give them Delgado + for Greinke and sign him to an extension
Nice catch, Michael!
July 24th, 20128:27 pm
Hudson is batting 6 points lower than Uggla
All those first pitch hits Chipper got in DC absolutely drove me through the roof…
July 24th, 20128:28 pm
Hows Grenike Doing?
Thanks “mjn”. He had some classics. Here’s my favorite of all time by Mr. Yogi Berra: “You got to go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours”.
The Marlins have no chance to win this game.
I don’t mind trying to “Ambush” a struggling pitcher, but the Braves have left 8 men on base in the first 4 innings! Hard to win doing that.
Now that was a good charge by Yanish…..pretty good def ss
I was talking about Heyward at the time. and although Uggla is a righty he hits rightys better than he hits lefties
July 24th, 20128:29 pm
Looks like Huddy might be settling in.
Can’t imagine that Buerhle will be around for more than another inning.
Greinke wants to play for Atlanta, Dempster doesn’t, obviousness is obvious.
Bourn almost hurt himself…waaahhhh! I want my mommy!
2 innings in a row with bases loaded and only 2 runs??? and no thanks for hits ,,thanks for walk and sac fly,,,
Chipper looks horrible in the last AB ,swinging the 1st pitch when Buerhle is obviously throw balls and any strike…
If Lester is really on the market ,go get him and tell Dempster to keep waiting for the Dodgers.Lester needs to get away from the freak show in Boston.Get aggressive Wren and get the Sox to throw in Bard too. .
July 24th, 20128:30 pm
so far Greinke is back pitching pretty well.
Another gooney platooney
July 24th, 20128:31 pm
Frank Wren looks like my high school chemistry teacher who became a meth dealer…waaaaahhhh!
nolie … I was funning with you. Uggla had just punked with the bases loaded. You wish for a righty. Careful what you wish for.
Yeah, if Chipper swings at a first pitch change, curve, FB or whatever you gotta figure he had a pretty good reason/approach for it.
July 24th, 20128:32 pm
Chipper has always swung at the first pitch a lot. made a fairly decent career out of it some might say
It’s obvious that Dempster doesn’t want to play for the Braves, so why give up anyone to basically rent hi for 2 months. Stupid deal.
Frank Wren- “Not a place for a frontline bat in our lineup” Frank may I introduce you to Dan “The Fan” Uggla.
Avg ticket price at Turner field = $41
250 extra fans per game = 20,205 fans a year
That’s an extra $830,250 per season (not including parking, merchandise, concessions)
3rd at bat. One pitch. WORTHLESS DAN. Enough said.
yup I shoulda said a righty who can hit lefties. mea culpa
July 24th, 20128:33 pm
I think Buehrle might pitch another inning. Hard to believe.
this is some good baseball lol
July 24th, 20128:34 pm
Chipper has got a lot of hits recently on the first pitch, if he singles there and scores two runs no one says a word. Didn’t work out.
With Jim Fregosi there watching Greinke, Brewers now realizing Wren is willing to trade one of the top pitching prospects (after the Dempster fiasco), Greinke wanting to play for Atlanta and was said that Braves did have money to get a top of the line starter somehow someway, it seems like the stars are aligning.
July 24th, 20128:35 pm
At least uggla didn’t strike out.
Chipper almost always swings first pitch in that situation. Swear it’s like 70% or higher in his career.
July 24th, 20128:36 pm
so, the price of a somewhat above replacement player. wow
Not exactly baseball related, but I work a part-time gig on the side at a running, coaching marathon store more as a hobby than anything else. The wage blows…so I would hope it’s a hobby.
Anyways, the Braves were down 3-1 before the largest lady i’ve ever seen comes into the store. I missed the comeback so she could pick through about 10 running shows and she hated everyone of them storming out because the colors were ugly.
This is why she is the largest lady i’ve ever seen. You are ‘walking’ shoe shopping, weight 300 lbs and you care about color? I wish the government could discontinue her healthcare for stupidity.
That is my rant…….back to baseball I guess
Lately every time DU strikes out he asks the ump if the 3rd strike was an out? Right now I don’t think it would really matter one way or the other. The pitcher could pretend to throw the ball, the catcher could smack his mitt with his hand, and Dan would swing.
Buehrle lasted 5 IP, threw 95 pitches and allowed 5 hits, 3 R (2 ER), 4 BB, 4 K
July 24th, 20128:37 pm
Good pinch hit AB there. one pitch, weak ground out.
lol…. top 6th …washington 5-1 mets…..
the braves needs to win tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
