Minor’s pitched good the last 3 games. Tonight he looks good, but nobody and i mean NOBODY is challenging the Marlin’s pitchers. Don’t matter how good you pitch, ya gotta have OFFENCE, and right now they are pretty OFFENSIVE.
I don’t see how anyone an complain about the way Minor has pitched tonight. The guy only gave up 2 runs and gave us 7 innings. If there are any complaints it should be about the steaming pile of crap our offense has been the last couple of games.
Funny if the Braves don’t make a trade everyone will crucify them. Make a trade and its not worth it. The logic here is sorely lacking. All the arguments for Delgado are amazing.
He is performing in the ML the same way that he did in the minors. Walks…walks and more walks. Wild pitches by the buckets. He is what…. 4-9 this season? Dempster sure would do better than that. The guy is the ERA leader for crying out loud.
People keep saying hold on to young guys like Delgado. For when? When McCann is gone in free agency and Chipper retires. The team will then be a shell of itself with no chance of winning. The best chance is now!
The Braves could go out and trade for the #1 pitcher in all of baseball and it wouldn’t do any good the way they are playing right now. You can’t win a game 0-0. The Marlins are missing two of their best players, and are short-handed. This bunch acts like they don’t have a thing to play for. It’s Monday, Mr. Fredi “Jesus” Gonzalez, I think I would start finding out what these guys are doing on Sunday nights!
HEY! HEY! HEY! Another WORTHLESS game, for WORTHLESS DAN UGGLA. Anyone surprised????
Keep runnin’ him out there Fredi! The hope of Braves Nation is that you’ll both be run out of Atanta soon.
Fredi and Dan…the two biggest jokes to come out of Florida.
Three games in a row now, mailed in by the Atlanta offense. Pretty pathetic.
Tomorrow’s quotes will include a Cap-tipper from Fredi.
2 things come to mind 1. Please fire Freddi before he owns more dubious records for the Braves (Greatest September collapse and No wins on Mondays) 2. Uggla just plain out sucks! Need I say more.?
I think Uggla is trying to break Mark Reynolds K record.Never adjusts his swing to how the opposing pitcher is pitching to him. Tries to pull everything, has got into the habit of taking pitches on the outer third of the plate ,because he knows he can’t reach them.Pulls of the ball every time and never cuts down on his swing with 2 strikes.Aren’t the Braves paying 2 batting coaches ,I guess they can’t challenge an overpaid under performing strike out king.Keep waiting for his so-called 2nd half run ,well we are still waiting.
Marty..not true about Ichiro and Janich…you can’t compare 2 weeks in majors with year in ML.
Braves need to deal for some rh hitters..Bloomquist, Cuddyer, Cain , Upton someone to help. I really like Liriano a southpaw and could be resigned. I’m not against Demp if they can get him to sign for next year.
Get some damn runs , please!
Good job by Minor tonight. Maybe the Braves do need to forget about trading for a starting pitcher and go get some offense. Hard to believe they only have one hit.
the only way to watch this game is by drinking! Wait I’ve done that. My sight is all blurry and I still see only one hit after 8 innings. I don’t think I drank enough yet. By the Way Is Freddie still the manager of the Braves?
Twelve strikeouts and counting against the Marlins, on a night when our back end pitcher has given up
two through 7.5 innings. Braves are WAY too inconsistent. Should blow the M’s out coming off of a loss like yesterday. Forget the playoffs.
only 3 outs away for another lose for a bad management by Fredi “motha foker” Gonzalez
let me explain that:
McCaan walks, no out
Uggla is up… why dont pinch run Constanza for BMac and try to steal the 2nd base???
Uggla k´s
next up Janish : Fredi burn Constanza and PH with Pastornicky only for K,,why dont use Ross anyway he´s gonna be a replace for BMac..
next up Pitcher: PH Ross and he K…instead used Hinske
We don’t need Dempster. Let’s hope he vetoes the trade. Let’s go with Delgado. Even with Dempster. we won’t get by the first round of the playoffs, even if we get there. Logically, don’t trade our future. But we should trade Bourn for young talent. The chances of us resigning Bourn are slim to none. Scott Boras has already announced that Bourn will test the free agent market after the season ends.
The point you people are missing is that we are doing this to win now. I’m not a huge fan of letting Delgado go for a 2 month rental player but look at next year when Chipper is no longer here and Bourn leaves in free agency, possibly McCann the next. If you want a shot at the World Series this year, you need to trade something now. If not, I don’t see the Braves having a better shot in the next three or four years. If you don’t do something, maybe we make the 4th wild card and then lose in the play-in game or next round at best.
We are not going to win on Mondays even if we had Warren Spahn in his prime. And, the wildcard playin game may be on a Monday. Wren is giving too much in Delgado for a guy who can’t throw 90 and is going to be here for only a 2 month rental. And, they say another player too. Way too much. Hope Dempster doesn’t want to come. He is having a career year and still is not better than Delgado.
I would not trade a good player to GET Dempster, but I WOULD give a good young player to any team that would also agree to TAKE Dan Uggla and his contract. Uggla is a rock around the neck of the Braves, a total and complete rally killer, and Atlanta is stuck with him for THREE more years.

This reminds me of the clusterf#@& that occurred when the Braves sort of announced they’d signed Furcal. I say let’s trade Fredi for Davy Johnson or Kirk Gibson or ANY manager with an edge.
To make it worse the Nats just took the lead on the Mets in the top of the 10th.Zimmerman just cleaned the bags with a3 run double.Nats 6 Mutts 2. Braves are now 4 and a half out. Correction Morse adds a 2 run homer Nats 8 Mutts 2.
I think Pendleton would be the manager in waiting for the Braves.Another Cox disciple but with more of an edge. Think he would kick some ass if needed.
The Braves need more than a pitcher.
They need a second Base that will not strike out twice a game, a SS that can hit, a wonder capsule that will keep them awake during the game.
The Braves should be called “The Sliders” for every game they win, they slide back two.
What To Say!!!!?
I guess~ I agree with the “Dont get Dempster” crowd. 35 yrs old~ 2 mos rental~ from what I have been able to garner? Yeah!! Thtas what we need~ pLAYER WITH pHIL gARNERS ATTITUDE! LOL
Ive never heard in my entire life~ a Trade hanging on a Contract Extension! Negotiating a contract? And a Trade at the same time? With a Player~ who obviously Is looking at his last Huge payday b4 retiring? WOW! I’ve also Noticed~ that DOB doesnt participate anymore on his own Blog? Course~ I cant really blame him! As idiots abound on his blog! The Blog needs to be “Cleaned up!” A good start would be to stop the idiots on here from changing their “Screen Names!” I take accountability for what I say!! Ive NEVER posted under a different name!
Some of you people wouldn’t be satisfied if FW made trades enough to transform the Braves into the NL All Star Team. Sheesh… you whine because we don’t make a trade.. then whine when we do… and for those who would ” rather have Greinke”… I’d rather Chipper was 25 again… but not going to happen either!!!!!
People on this blog certainly like to throw around nasty names, apparently…anyway, to “Marty”, who said those who thought Ichiro was a bad pickup by the Yanks for two second or third tier minor leaguers, and stated “look at his stats”. consider that the Yankees got him for a song to replace Gardner and Swisher as necessary. Having an off year at 38 years old, he still has 105 hits, 15 doubles, 5 triples, and has scored 49 runs for a weak seattle team, striking out only 1 in every 10 ab.. He might well heat up in hitter friendly yankee stadium. Not bad for 2 no name prospects, eh? So rather than calling bloggers “morons”, think about things a bit, eh, Marty you dumba**……as per the braves, why is Tyler P out there? He looks overmatched on the field and at the plate. I feel badly for him, he is not at this point a big leaguer.
Dr. : He may very well lead the league in ERA. Having a career year. His last start, he came back to earth with a loss to the Cards and his ERA went up. I look at career. Losing record and still doesn’t hit 90. Doesn’t bode well. Delgado, on the other hand, throws 93 and is improving. 2 ER in his last start in 6 innings. Could have been and should have been 1 ER as Uggla botched a DP if you recall.
Wren and Braves are going to regret trading Delgado for a 2 month rental. Dempster is 35 years old. Do you want to give him a 4 or 5 year contract? He has been on the DL this year. As for next year, Wren has an excellent chance to build a big winner if he doesn’t trade away all the young guys. He is going to have 45 mil to sign a pitcher, CF, and LF. Should be able to get 3 pretty good players for that. If he can unload Uggla, he will have 58 mil to play with. A big if. No one wants Uggla.

Runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs, the Braves haven’t hit all night… Why not have Heyward bunt the guys over for Chipper, Freeman and McCann? Anybody home HOME Freddi?
Nubdan, you are correct. Bunt the 2 over. Then, they probably walk Chipper to load them up for Freman and McCann. But, still those 2 would have had a chance to tie or win the game with the bases loaded. Instead, bad call and DP.
Demp is not the answer for the braves. I wouldn’t give up Delgado for this dude. He’s at the end of his career and won’t be worth jack come next year. I would take my chances with Liriano from the Twins, he’s a proven lefty and he’s much younger than Demp.
If Wren gives Delgado away for a rental……..or period in my opinion….it will be a trade that will come back to haunt him forever.
Delgado is almost there….his start Saturday night in Washington was evidence of his growth as he went seven leaving tied 2-2………
If Fredi had not pulled him then and brought in Martinez who promptly gave the game away….and had Uggla not blown the double play ball on Delgado’s watch…we may well have won that game as well.
We are NOT ONE PLAYER AWAY FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!! We are short in relief pitching and have only Prado and Simmons when he returns who we can count on from the right hand side…Uggla is again in such a funk he does’t count right now….
Oh I know everyone says “da, da, dah in the end Uggs will have 30 HR, etc”
Well he isn’t doing much in that direction and guess what guys….he may NOT ;pull out of his nose dive…..
SELLING ANY OF OUR TOP PROSPECTS FOR A RENTAL is a FOOLISH MOVE FRANK……
Uggla is a great clubhouse guy….great for the dugout, morale, the consumate hustle player etc…a great, great guy….but he is so very streaky that his overall value is questionable…..$13 million a year…..tough sell …..
If this trade falls flat with Dempster then I think that is exactly what the Braves need to do – put Medlen into the rotation and be fair to him giving him another shot to start. I like JJ but he has some more work to do. Our mid relief other then Medlen has been spotty recently but Durban is looking better.
Grienke said he would be willing to sign a long term deal with the Braves. Why give up young talent for a rental?? Didnt you learn anything for the Texteria trade?? Matt Harrison and Elvis Andrus would be nice right now.
Please KEEP DELGADO!! Do not trade For DEMPS that is to much for him..An DELGADO is one my fav.young players.this is the way i would line up my starting rotation/#1Huddy,#2Minor,#3Hanson,#4Sheets,#5Delgado Then go get a good bench bat(RH), then get 1 more bullpen guy..Try and trade UGGLA if possible..Then hope for the best keep our young pitchers and wait till next year to make all the trades and build a WS team…thanks last beer going to bed..
No old rental…..Wren called about Lester in Boston. Call Tampa about Price. They want a young catcher…..have that in the minors. Let them choose from a list of Braves pitchers or other players. Yes, it will cost! But, in Price you get a #1 starter who is a young all-star.
The question for Frank is …… Do the Braves have enough to get deep in the postseason with dempster? I think the pressure is there from so many different angles.
1. Frank is feeling the heat from up top
2 Chipper is probably applying pressure given this is his last year and wants to go out a winner
3 Fredi knows this may be his last job for awhile if they don’t catch fire and win
4 The fan base has had just about a gut full of mediocrity.
I just hope that the people at the top are not going to mortgage the future because of their own job insecurities or to please the Old battle Axe in his last go round. Because the efeect of these decisions are going to be felt long after this current crop have departed.
I personally like Delgado. I like his makeup and his stuff is pretty steady low mid 90’s fastball. His change at times is unhittable. It seems to me that he is an awful lot give up for 2month rental. Although, It looks like JJ is headed for the scrap heap. Hanson is a #3 at best and who knows what Teheran turns out to be. Huddy will be another year older. Beachy may or may not be back to form next year. Minor looks promising at times. Thank God we got Simmons to be excited about watching, I wonder what is this team going to look like next year and into the future when Chip is gone and its Mac last year before free agency with no centerfielder? Is now the time to go for it?????????
Dempster and Greinke wouldn’t put this team over the top to win the World Series. On top of that, Ken Rosenthal says the hold up may be the Braves. He says that they may want an extension agreement in place prior to trading for Dempster. If this deal doesn’t go through, I am not heartbroken.
Frank Wren and the organization is starving for Hitting……. Meanwhile all the wonderful trades Frank has made will fill a book on how not to do it.
Rental players or over paid players include Tex, Lowe, Uggla, Kawakami, and Bourne…..who may or may not sign..but with Boros his agent…….really are we going to over pay yet again ?
How about those wonderful players we have given away ? The shortstop of the future, who in Texas is a a wonderful player….
Really besides the guys who came up from the minors…What has Frank Wren done for this organization ?
I would say the answer is in all the amazing playoff wins under him !
Wren didn’t make the trade for Teixeira. If you recall it was John Schuerholz. Still rather get a younger pitcher over Dempster (Greinke, Liriano) if we are giving up Delgado.
I wish management would wakeup and give Medlen a fair chance to start as he is better then 3 of our starters now, hope Delgado stays because he is going to be special , Jurrjens should have been sent back to the minors as he has not gotten better and we cannot continue to give away games, where is our right handed bat as you cannot have so many left handed hitters on the bench or the opposing team will continue to bring in lefthanded relief pitchers to get our pinch hitters out, get J.Willingham
Give away the future for a rental for 3 months..No.Epstein would gladly make the deal
Trade J. J. for Dempster. We need some offense more than pitching..What about a 2nd baseman?
[...] wrong! Unfortunately that was really the last we heard of this deal being down to Dempster, the Atlanta Journal Constitution chimed in later in the evening backing up Nightengale’s statement, but all other outlets that [...]
Frank Wren is an idiot if he trades 5 years of Randall Delgado for 2 months of an overachieving 35 year old pitcher. He will compound that mistake if he signs the Dumpster to a contract extension.
They need to trade for a younger guy like Greinke who is an actual ace…..not a wannabe like Dempster.
[...] the Ryan Dempster trade to the Atlanta Braves is not yet official, it does appear that Dempster officially won’t be traded to the Los Angeles [...]
Think 2013. Forget this year. Dempster will not propel this team into the World Series. This is season is The Chipper Jones Farewell Tour, and nothing more. Let this year be a rebuilding year by continuing to allow Minor and Delgado to take their inevitable early-career lumps. Next year they will be older, wiser and more experienced. Dempster will be nearly washed-up by next season, when Chipper’s and D-Lowe’s combined $25 million will come off the books, and then they can use that money to get a front-line pitcher and a right-handed outfielder to replace Bourn. Think 2013.

This reminds me of the clusterf#@& that occurred when the Braves sort of announced they’d signed Furcal. I say let’s trade Fredi for Davy Johnson or Kirk Gibson or ANY manager with an edge.

I thinks Fredi’s suffers from following Saint Bobby Cox ,and the fact that his team is not that good.

If this trade falls flat with Dempster then I think that is exactly what the Braves need to do – put Medlen into the rotation and be fair to him giving him another shot to start. I like JJ but he has some more work to do. Our mid relief other then Medlen has been spotty recently but Durban is looking better.

To the morons praising the Yankees for picking up Ichiro, have you looked at his stats? He’s hitting like Janish.
Really ? Wow I would take Ichiro at 261 over a 161…… Heck I would trade him for Uggla, and get rid of the weak strikeout.

Think 2013.
