After reading every blog..about 95% don’t wish for Dempster at Delgado’s expense. Over half want to improve the “O”. Over half want Uggla gone.A third want Wren and Fredi gone. One wants Reckinball as PR msn. A fourth want Braves to learn to bunt. One wants to be mgr.
MOST IMPORTANT…all want to win!
Before the Marlins sent Omar Infante to Detroit, wonder whether they would have considered reversing the trade of Dan Uggla for Infante and Mike Dunn? I bet the Braves would, since they could move Martin Prado back to second base, where he was an All-Star starter, and play Infante in left field and even shortstop until Andrelton Simmons returns.
TPic. Yeah may not even be close to realistic. I saw he had been caught 4 times, but 7 successful isn’t too bad. If he can hit 280 with power though he is an alternative, if they can find someplace to play him. I saw he had 95 strikeouts as well. He does hit over .300 at the moment. Again we need a right handed power hitter, The only one we supposedly have isn’t doing to well at the moment.
While the Braves have no one to blame but their sticks, I will interject that it would be nice to have 1st and 2nd with no one out in the 9th inning, and Chipper at the plate. No telling what might have happened. Oh well
reckingball, I’m not here to argue with you; I appreciate when two people can have a passionate discussion with opposing views. Clearly that call didn’t help and it being at rthe end of the game artificially magnified the importance of it, but still – you aren’t supposed to win scoring one run. It would have been interesting to see what transpired following the play should Heyward have ben ruled safe.
Re: Stalled Dempster trade. I suspect the hold up is Dempster. My guess — he’s angry that he wasn’t given the opportunity to formally approve the deal before folks started leaking information to the press.
The Braves have had plenty of bad calls go against them this year.
The Braves have had some bad calls go in their favor.
I think they have had more go against them, than in their favor.
For instance(in games that I have watched), Bourne has been called out at 2nd ‘five’ times, when the replays show he was safe, and some of those plays were not even close.
But there is not a lot of complaining from the fans most of the time, and when there is, it is limited.
My biggest complaint about last nights bad call, was the ump’s incompetence in setting himself up in the correct position, to be able to make a correct call.
Delgado has pitched way better than JJ. I say trade JJ and throw Uggla in the deal as well. Put Prado at 2nd and play Constanza in LF. Uggla is turning into the strike out king…
Wren is crazy if he trades Delgado, Minor or Tehran.I had rather trade Hanson. The hitting is more of a problem. They need to trade Uggla as he is to inconsistant. I hope Dempster does not come to the Braves.
JJ’s a train wreck and I’m worried about Hanson as well. I really hope we keep Delgado. What will we do next year if Delgado’s gone and Dempster gets here and walks after two months?
Fredi sucks as always what else is new. I don’t think he knows anything about small ball. We have trouble scoring runs so when you have a runner on first with not outs put in the bunt that is so obvious of a play. This team is like up and down you never know which one has come to play. No consistency what so ever. Too bad we couldn’t get Infanti since he was up for grabs. We need offense so so bad. Minor pitched well enough to get a win. It is so tough on our pitching staff to stand out there and try to keep the other team from scoring when they don’t get any run support from their own team. Come on you guys get your heads out of your *&%$ and get to hitting.
Adairsville Brave, don’t think the Tigers would do it, but we would probably have to eat at least half the contract about 6 millon per year. Still that would free up another 6 million to go with Lowe’s 10 Chipper’s 14 and we would get JJ off the payroll too.
Don’t the Braves have a hitting coach? Is Uggla too much of a “head case to listen to him? Or is our hitting coach too inept to help??? Man, something is wrong here. Uggla and his stupid toe tapping, is tapping us into oblivion.
Screw this guy, send him down to learn how to hit.
I have heard/read rumors that they may be willing to deal Porcello and since they picked up Sanchez yesterday Uggla would be a sure upgrade at second for them since they have used a platoon all year there. I think Uggla might benefit from a swap to the AL, the pitching is better in the NL and with the DH they could hide his glove there is there wernt happy with him at second.. Something to ponder,
I can’t wait to see how Chipper Jones will be as a manager one day. Cause if he’s anything like he is now he’s gonna go down as one of the all-time greats, quote-wise. Of course he’ll probably end up with more ejections than Bobby and more fines than whoever’s leading the pack now, but it’ll be fun…assuming it’s with the Braves.
Pity we can’t just sign players to 1 or 2-year contracts. Too easy to get burned if a player goes south. These big, multi-year contracts have a way of blowing up in a team’s face.
reckingball, one last comment on the blown call. You’re right – if I am a player (or a manager) I would have gone ape poop, not because the umpire was incorrect, but because he was out of position. As I said earlier, umpires make mistakes, too. But those mistakes should not occur from being in the wrong place or establishing a bad angle to see the play. Wonder if Diaz will be behind the plate anytime during this series?
LAC, are you on drugs? weren’t the braves a 75 win team the year Wren took over? He has done a nice job rebuilding our core in the farm (Heyward/Freeman/Kimbrell et al) and thru trades (Bourn)
Hey guys, in case you hadn’t noticed it, our JJ isn’t Josh Johnson and unless we can get away with convincing some other team that he is, we couldn’t trade him for a bag of balls. And you’re right about Uggla, the guy’s just too stubborn or too dumb to change. Chipper said it the other day when he said ‘Some of our guys just don’t value singles any more’. Dan’s strategy seems to be ‘if at first you don’t connect, swing harder’.
Teams usually try and avoid dealing with teams within their division in order not to improve the others team. In the case of Uggla for Infante, I bet the Marlins jumped on that so fast a sonic boom was heard. MY DOG COULD OUTMANAGE FREDDIE
The Dempster trade will go down in the class of the Tex deal. You dont trade two months for a potentially good pitcher. Delgado has the same era as Hanson, please nonrenew Hanson. Please, Dempster, veto the tade, we have a stupid GM
It is tough to win ballgames when you only have 6 batters and 6 innings to score runs. The Braves are effectively giving up 3 free innings to the opposition each night with 3 automatic outs at the bottom of the lineup. Couple that with the starting pitching putting you in a hole right in the early stages of most games, and you do not have a formula that translates to being a championship caliber ballclub.
Tpic, Diaz will be behind the plate tonight. What Joe said last night.

I agree, a bad call did not cost us the game, poor hitting, and poor play did us in — over the course of a season, calls go both ways. To win, you must score runs,,,,,
oh really??? what else did your crystal ball tell you……
Dan Uggly is the Braves’ Adam Dunn. Massively overpaid and a .223 hitter with a few dingers and massive strikeout totals. No one will take his contract just as the White Sox cannot find anyone stupid enough to take the Dunn contract. The leadership of this team from the top to the manager are unfit for their positions. I have been a baseball fan for over 60 years. I have watched the Braves since day one in Atlanta. I have watched through the sorry years. But, this overpaid, over hyped bunch is beyond pale. These people sign worthless players to massive contracts. The list is long and ugly. I do not watch them on TV any more. I refuse to come to their games. I have been traded. I got myself traded, just like Ichiro did. I am now a Texas Rangers fan and will root for Nolan Ryan, one of my all time favorites, until the Atlanta Braves fire everyone from ownership down to Fat Freddie. Until they are committed to winning, I am finished with them. Go Rangers!
Sure is nice listening to people who are venting but it would also be nice to know what you are talking about. Miss dumb me is still trying to learn. I LOVE MY BRAVES. Go Braves Y’all.
dempster has had experience with fredi and roger.that explains why he don’t want to come to atlanta.he knows what bad manager and pitching coach’s they are.who wants to play for them with the stupid decisions they make..
Doubtful Dempster comes to Atlanta. Comes from W Canada, rumor has it that he would prefer to go to LA. If the Braves have to give up Delgado, Minor and Teheran………..It’s not worth it.

Go Rangers!

Doubtful Dempster comes to Atlanta. Comes from W Canada, rumor has it that he would prefer to go to LA. If the Braves have to give up Delgado, Minor and Teheran………..It’s not worth it.

Notice how no one wants to trade for Hansen……That “funky” delivery will soon lead to major arm problems.
