Melky’s antics are meaningless, they lost. Period. However, someone or some other team won’t tolerate Melky’s behavior. He’s gonna cost the Giants eventually.
Of course not. Shaun has little to say that I haven’t heard already. That’s my personal “reasonable expectation”.
My whole point was not that I’m satisfied with Heyward slugging poorly in his 13 July games. It was that, after being nuclear in June, Heyward tailing off to .270 or so for a couple of weeks doesn’t distress me. If he manages to not get any more XBH for the entire…bleepin’…month, then that’s something else. You think that’s gonna happen?
Shaun, regardless of how much baseball you claim to know, Dan Uggla sucks DDD and will, without a doubt go down as one of the worst signings in history…oh yeah, he does “hustle” though…
Define “sucks.” Uggla is a decent player and likely will be decent the next few seasons. I’m not a huge fan of the signing but I think he’s a solid player. I don’t think his performance over a recent small sample can tell us much about anything or means anything in terms of what the Braves should do with Uggla. But if people want to point out what this guy or that guy has done in a recent small sample for no apparent reason, fine with me. I just overlook it. Kind of like saying, “hey, the asphalt out there is black.” It is what it is and we learn nothing from it.
Everyone considered him the coward of the county
He’d never stood one single time to prove the county wrong.
His mama named him Freddie, but folks just called him yellow,
Something always told me they were reading Freddie wrong.
Everyone considered Freddie the coward of the county.
I’m not getting into this anymore with you Shaun, your arrogance knows no bounds, but please stop saying “recent small sample” like what he’s done recently is different from what he’s done the ENTIRE TIME HE’S BEEN HERE. He strikes out at a herculean rate, plays lousy (range) defense, hits for a punchin’ judy average, and is highly exploitable at the plate with runners on, HE SUCKS!
David Ross is 35 and past the age where most catchers are still playing everyday. But still, Wren should go ahead and lock the guy up for at least two more years at about 2.5 million per season. As what David Ross brings to this team can’t really be put into words.
But Melky does need a blazing two seamer in the hip or ribs!
The only folks who will forget his showboating are the numbnuts posters in this forum. When he actually does get hammered, they’ll get dazed looks and wonder why.
I have decided I will try & be positive for awhile, whether we win or lose.
Thanks Danny U, appreciate your consistency , we all know you are streaky, the fact your last bout of the streakola is lasting the season should NOT concern true Braves fans.
Good work Mgr Gonzales. Just because a few rednecks try & cause you to order violence against Mr. Cabrera you proved you know the true roots of Has-beens like Billy Martin, Earl Weaver, Lou Pinella & there type & avoid confrontations. Good for you!
ncscoots, many will only be happy with robot players who perform perfectly consistent in every game and there week-to-week or month-to-month stats perfectly match their season stats and career stats. That’s the way it ought to be for many here. That’s why when Uggla or Heyward or Prado don’t perform well in a week or a month relative to their season or career numbers, people are going to point it out and many are going to be up in arms about it, as if it gives us even a fraction of true knowledge about any of those players.
The games a bit more complex than going from small sample size to small sample size creating a larger story within them rather than making the story out of what happens over the long haul based on fundamentally what players and teams are, not on what they do in one week then the next then the next.
Listening to the after game stuff with Simpson, Carey, Gant, and Jerenovich one would think the Braves just won the series from the Giants. I hate to inform you guys who may have gotten “brainwashed” by the Braves “homer crew” but they only won one game of three and just barely took that one. In fact, probably should have lost it, only getting 3 hits. FG is the world’s worst baseball manager but he sure gets lucky sometimes. BTW, this Melky plunking thing is typical of the Braves. It will all be forgotten come next time they play the Giants. This has happened before and they always seem to lose track and act like it’s no big deal within just a few days. This is why the Braves get no respect from the rest of teams in the league.
The Braves are a classy organization. They win with class, they lose with class. If a knucklehead wants to dance around and showboat, they generally don’t drill him. Who Cares? They dont need to.
As a Georgia Tech fan, I would like to see Fredi stand up for his players in the same way that Coach Paul Johnson does. He has restored glory and honor to Georgia Tech football and put us back in the national spotlight.
Uggla hit .233 for alllllllllll of last year and is currently hitting .218 for alllllll of this year, shove your “small sample size” where the sun don’t shine!
murph Better to keep him off the basepaths and just move on. They’ll have their chance to get him, and I guarantee the team won’t forget about how he acted. Might not even be this season, but Melky will get his eventually.
bullseye. the braves really didnt have an opportunity to retaliate. but they wont forget it.

Blee dat – Huddy says it best on not plunking Melky: “We won the game, that’s all that matters. Whenever they want to strut around when they lose, that’s fine.”

Damn son, you really showed stupidity with that sentence. Does he really think everbody is McCann and is cool with you smearing shyt all over opposing teams and their fans faces. BMac doesn’t care, most seem to though.
Actually, according to UZR, Chipper is playing third as well as he ever has this year, particularly in terms of his range. Making his fair share of errors, but getting to plenty of balls.
It’s baseball. Uggla hasn’t had a hit in months. Anything can happen.
As for the rest of that for which you were responding, it was all for sh!ts and giggles. Cracks me up to see him go all haughty taughty every time. Hook, line and sinker.
I’ve seen Mac care before. I remember he got in one of the Hairston brothers faces a few years ago when they came up to bat after they had said something to Gregor Blanco for attempting to bunt during a no-no vs. the Reds the inning before.
Since he came to the Braves, Uggla is somewhere in the middle of the pack overall among the 19 secondbasemen with enough PA to qualify for the batting title.
I think Uggla is a big overrated. I’m not a huge fan of the contract the Braves gave him. But I’m certainly not going to take a narrow view on Uggla based on the last couple of weeks or month or whatever time frame you want to pick out at random to show he’s struggling.
I’ll look at the big picture and realize that even if he slips a bit with age, as we should expect, he still has plenty of room to go before he’s a less-than-adequate major league starting secondbaseman.
But go ahead and focus on whatever stats you can pluck out to show that he’s struggling and stinks, etc. Many of you do the same with plenty of other players. I’ll look at things that reveal who he is as a player. I guarantee you that no one in baseball takes such a narrow view of players.
But Melky does need a blazing two seamer in the hip or ribs!
Ouch!
I have no problem having pitchers dust off hitters, but for attitude? I dunno. Just go out and beat ‘em, I say.

players who perform perfectly consistent in every game and there week-to-week or month-to-month stats perfectly match their season stats and career stats.
That was the definition of Albert Pujols from 2001 through 2010. Love looking at those numbers. Every which way you slice them. Just flawless.
Cracks me up to see him go all haughty taughty every time. Hook, line and sinker.
I know it’s entertaining (since I’ve done it myself), but, lately, I feel as if i’m beating up on the schoolyard weakling, when I do it. So, I’m trying to refrain, in furtherance of my efforts to become a better man.
Shaun, what’s the big picture then? What are his numbers since coming to the Braves? Now how do they compare to his career numbers? Just wondering what they look like.. not poking.
Don’t know why they let Melky and Cody Ross get away with this garbage. Yes you go beat them show them, but you also show some nastiness and pride by plunking these losers. Knock their asses out of the season with one right on the hand. Fu** ‘em. Scared of retaliation? Please, bring it!

Why is Freddie Freeman a coward? -Soph
Marvin Freeman. I remember when that happened but folks like you and I were just young bucks (or doe I guess) in those days.
Nevermind, I’m off on another conversation. Ignore my jibberish.

I say exactly the same thing!!
Accompanied by the baseball to the hip or the ribs!

Ha, I actually remember that happening Hillbilly. Pendleton was pissed when he marched off the field.
I asked about Freddie because the Coward guy kept saying Freddie is a coward but he meant our beloved skipper.

players who perform perfectly consistent in every game and there week-to-week or month-to-month stats perfectly match their season stats and career stats.
