Of course not. Shaun has little to say that I haven’t heard already. That’s my personal “reasonable expectation”.
My whole point was not that I’m satisfied with Heyward slugging poorly in his 13 July games. It was that, after being nuclear in June, Heyward tailing off to .270 or so for a couple of weeks doesn’t distress me. If he manages to not get any more XBH for the entire…bleepin’…month, then that’s something else. You think that’s gonna happen?

Shaun, regardless of how much baseball you claim to know, Dan Uggla sucks DDD and will, without a doubt go down as one of the worst signings in history…oh yeah, he does “hustle” though…
Define “sucks.” Uggla is a decent player and likely will be decent the next few seasons. I’m not a huge fan of the signing but I think he’s a solid player. I don’t think his performance over a recent small sample can tell us much about anything or means anything in terms of what the Braves should do with Uggla. But if people want to point out what this guy or that guy has done in a recent small sample for no apparent reason, fine with me. I just overlook it. Kind of like saying, “hey, the asphalt out there is black.” It is what it is and we learn nothing from it.

David Ross is 35 and past the age where most catchers are still playing everyday. But still, Wren should go ahead and lock the guy up for at least two more years at about 2.5 million per season. As what David Ross brings to this team can’t really be put into words.

ncscoots, many will only be happy with robot players who perform perfectly consistent in every game and there week-to-week or month-to-month stats perfectly match their season stats and career stats. That’s the way it ought to be for many here. That’s why when Uggla or Heyward or Prado don’t perform well in a week or a month relative to their season or career numbers, people are going to point it out and many are going to be up in arms about it, as if it gives us even a fraction of true knowledge about any of those players.
The games a bit more complex than going from small sample size to small sample size creating a larger story within them rather than making the story out of what happens over the long haul based on fundamentally what players and teams are, not on what they do in one week then the next then the next.

Listening to the after game stuff with Simpson, Carey, Gant, and Jerenovich one would think the Braves just won the series from the Giants. I hate to inform you guys who may have gotten “brainwashed” by the Braves “homer crew” but they only won one game of three and just barely took that one. In fact, probably should have lost it, only getting 3 hits. FG is the world’s worst baseball manager but he sure gets lucky sometimes. BTW, this Melky plunking thing is typical of the Braves. It will all be forgotten come next time they play the Giants. This has happened before and they always seem to lose track and act like it’s no big deal within just a few days. This is why the Braves get no respect from the rest of teams in the league.

Since he came to the Braves, Uggla is somewhere in the middle of the pack overall among the 19 secondbasemen with enough PA to qualify for the batting title.
I think Uggla is a big overrated. I’m not a huge fan of the contract the Braves gave him. But I’m certainly not going to take a narrow view on Uggla based on the last couple of weeks or month or whatever time frame you want to pick out at random to show he’s struggling.
I’ll look at the big picture and realize that even if he slips a bit with age, as we should expect, he still has plenty of room to go before he’s a less-than-adequate major league starting secondbaseman.
But go ahead and focus on whatever stats you can pluck out to show that he’s struggling and stinks, etc. Many of you do the same with plenty of other players. I’ll look at things that reveal who he is as a player. I guarantee you that no one in baseball takes such a narrow view of players.
