Venters likely for Friday, Sunday rehab appearances

Vivlamore reporting from Turner Field.

Jonny Venters will likely make minor-league rehab appearances Friday and Sunday for Triple-A Gwinnett as the left-handed reliever prepares to return from the disabled list.

Venters was placed on the DL with elbow soreness. He was scheduled to throw another bullpen session Wednesday and would be cleared for the rehab stint if all went well.

Venters said he threw a mix of 39 pitches pain free off the bullpen mound Tuesday.

Manager Fredi Gonzalez wants Venters to make two rehab appearances. He is available to come off the disabled list on Friday but would likely be activated on Tuesday for the second of a three-game series at the Marlins.

In other news:

* Tyler Pastornicky fielded balls in the outfield before Wednesday’s game and the Braves continue to cross-train the utility man. “If he stays up here long enough, you may see him out there in left field one game,” Gonzalez said.

* Craig Kimbrel has converted 19 straight save opportunities since his only blown save of the season on May 2. Opponents are batting just .073 (6-for-82) against Kimbrel during the stretch.

* Andrelton Simmons completed his first for four weeks in a cast for a broken right hand. The rookie shortstop joked he had already grown so tired of the cast he nearly cut it off himself over the weekend. “I’m glad the team is winning,” Simmons said of watching. “I’ve become a real fan, the number one fan.”

I just hope when Johnny’s DL stint is up and Fredi ask him if he is feeling well enough to play that he says no.

So Simmons is already tired of the cast? Here’s a news flash for him……….no more freaking head first slides dummy!!
Seriously, if I’m the manager of a major league team I would have a rule against head first slides, five hundred dollar fine for every one. What most players do not realize is that the head first slide actually slows them down as opposed to feet first. You can look it up.

Is the game going to be played or not? Jeez, it seems to rain everyday down south. That is why all teams down south where it rains all the time should be required to have a retractable roof on their stadiums.

The Brewers here in Wisconsin have have a retractable roof on their stadium and its awesome. If during the game its to hot, to cold, or raining, the roof closes and the game is played. I bet the Braves would get better attendance from fans if they knew for certain that the game would be played. That is the biggest thing holding me back from going to Atlanta for a weekend series. Why buy the tickets and spend the money for travel if you don’t know the game is being played? That is a huge risk and one that many fans aren’t willing to take.

Can’t Ugglier bat 9th until he gets 2 hits in a week? Even our new shortstop is more dangerous at the plate than Popeye Dan.

How bad does it look for Frank Wren that he signed the Braves strike out machine to be our primary power hitter. Yea, Uggly can hit the ball a long way. The problem is he doesn’t make contact enough to do that. He is just absolutely pathetic.

Knew Minor was going to cough up the lead in that inning. Then he gets 2 outs and I am thinking that maybe he will finally escape giving up a lead, and he gives up a 2 out homerun to the cocky ass Melky Cabrera of all people.

If that wasn’t bad enough, we have to watch Uggla strike out for the millionth time this month in a rbi situation. Any chance we can trade him back to Miami for Infante? Then, we have Kris Medlen giving up hits and walking people late in the game. It’s always the same guys screwing it up for the Braves.

don’t think you’re getting away with nothing.
I hear everything you say about me when I get back to my room and watch the game on comcast on-demand.
You know who you are. Meester Don Sutton and Meester Joe Simpson.
I hear you say I “mailed it in” and I played here “25 pounds ago.”
I know what you mean, and I don’t appreciate it.
You just watch Meester Caray. I’m gonna hit another home run and I’m gonna run the bases like it’s 2010 (nice and slow and texting my girlfriend while I run). Then I’m gonna look up at the press box and give you the Mutombo finger wave.
Maybe I did steal 3.1 million dollars from Frank Wren that year, but now I’m the greatest player in all of baseball.
So shut up and get on the Milktrain.

It’s tacky lf Gonzo to say up front “if Pastornicky stays here long enough.” Maybe Wren will give Tyler away and he can excel somewhere else.

No, they don’t do everything better here up north, just a little smarter when it came to designing their stadium. So its a bad thing wanting to see a game but not wanting to take the risk? How about you get a clue before spewing crap. I actually grew up in the south in a little state called Florida, ever hear of it? I miss the south, but not enough to risk spending all that money to NOT watch a game. So thanks for the input Ms 3 names, and thanks for the permission to stay up north.

Just like a yamn Dankee spewing stuff on our blog about how great it is up north. If you northerners are so smart about stadium design how come the roof collapsed on the MetroDome? And another thing, Florida is full of yamn Dankees so don’t call yourself Southern. Stay up there and eat your beans and franks and I will be down here eating collard greens and peas and cornbread and some fatback and wash it down with a co-cola.

My girl friend and her boyfriend both are at the game and they called me and asked why Fredi would let Uggla bat with a runner on second and two outs with Chipper available to pinch hit. Uggla strikes out again and Fredi lets Chipper lead off the next inning. That’s 3 strikouts for Uggla tonight and my girlfriend’s boyfriend said Uggla has arms like james earl jones not pOpeye.

Typical Braves. They had a golden opportunity to win the game when they had bases loaded in the 9th, then they fall on their face like usual in the next inning. I’m sure the Nationals won their game, so these Braves fall another game back. So this will be the 2nd loss of what will probably be 7 or 8 in a row after they had their 7 game winning streak, they have done that a few times this year. Now they will roll over and play dead in the 10th like they always do. That’s what happens when you have a piece of crap bullpen. That Avaro or whoever that piece of crap is should be gone soon. The Braves were defeated once they didn’t score in the 9th. This team just doesn’t get it. Time to get swept tomorrow boys, may as well keep it going, you are not good enough to play consistently good baseball.
