IF the Braves are patient and let Zito walk the world (as he often does) they should be able to put up 4 or 5 on him. If they hack away it could be a long night

why do folks have multiple names? so they can create the illusion that their POV is more supported and popular?

The headline reads well….and the variables of this resurgence are aptly credited. From my point of view; the manner in which we extended innings was the key. The back to back to back….hits and run support created a higher confidence level in the dugout; our hurlers got the support and the reclamation of our offense has been a bright, inspiring experience.

Hi, I’m new here, just moved to ATL Sunday. Going to the game tonight with my new girlfriend. Her name is 8-0 and as you can see she is kind of “curvy”. Looks like we may hit it off big if the rain stays away. Here’s hoping we will. She does have a sister, named 9-0, and I’m thinking about taking her to the game tomorrow night. As you can see, she’s somewhat top heavy. Just depends on how it goes tonight.

For all those who are calling to pay Grienke $17-20M per year, I sat here and figured out some money things for next year. These are just rough numbers, not sure if they are exact, but it gives an idea of how tough Wren’s job is.

In 2013 we already have $34M committed to 3 players (McCann, Uggla, Hanson). That leaves about $50M or so for the other 22 players on the active roster. $21M of that is club option, but….it’s spent.

So where to spend that $50M?

We have six Arbitration eligible players, currently making approximately $14.2M – Jurrjens (5.5M), Prado (4.7M), O’F (2.5M), Martinez, Medlen, and Venters, each around 500,000. Who do the Braves keep and how much will they make? Assuming we keep them all, I’m thinking that each of them will get a raise, even Jurrjens.

Then we have 12 players who the Braves control but are due raises next year: Kimbrel, Heyward, Hanson, Freeman, Minor, Varvaro, Delgado, Beachy, Fish, Pastornicky, and Vizcaino. They are currently making about $6.1M this year, how much more will these players cost?

So from the $50M or so we have ‘uncommitted’ for next year, AT LEAST $20.3M is spoken for (that figure DOES NOT account for any raises).

We have seven Unrestricted Free Agents: Bourn, Diaz, Ross, Hinske, Wilson, Durbin and Sheets. How much of the $30M do we spend here? How much will be left over after signing Prado to a multi-year deal?

I realize that’s 28 players, but those are the players the Braves are paying that consitute the $82M payroll right now. I couldn’t find what we’re paying Sheets, but…you get the idea.

As of this evening, Diamondbacks are not close to a Justin Upton trade. Some of the teams that have expressed interest are non-contenders.

That was the tweet right before the Prado one. Guessing Buster is talking to one source that might of talked to him about the Upton for Prado deal….

hard to tell on that since they would be buying out 2 arb years, which skews it some compared to if it was a straight FA contract.

We’d be buying out one arb year. He is a free agent after 2013.

I think a fair offer is four year contract through 2016. Something around 34-36 million in total. Prado will turn 29 this October. 2016 will be his age 32 year old season, turning 33 that October.

@NickB: yes Liriano is FA after this season but is cheap than greinke for the next months and more flexible for re-sign with the braves:

chipper 14 mdd
lowe 10 mdd
hinske and diaz together 3.725 mdd
wilson 1 mdd
hudson 9 mdd
bourn 6.845 mdd
TOTAL: 44.570 MDD

POSSIBLE CONTRACTS
bourn 5 years@ 14 mdd
hudson 2 years@ 7 mdd
mccaan option 12 mdd
and 11.5 mdd for arbitration salary ( MEDLEN prado j-hey oflaherty kimbrel francisco JJ beachy)

basically the same payroll with 5 mdd Liriano extra and maybe a good LF who earns 6-9mdd per year

is a good option ,,or other is trade JJ in the winter and forget his 5.5 mdd or let hudson hit the Free agency and save
his 9 mdd so is like 4 or 5 mdd free for expend in bench help

ATLANTA BRAVES PAYROLL IS 82.4 MDD THE NEXT YEAR GUESSING THE BRAVES DONT RE SIGN HUDSON WE HAVE 8 OF 9 MDD FREE BECAUSE IS
1MDD BUYOUT : 5 MDD FOR LIRIANO , 3 MDD + 4-5 MDD EXTRA FOR LF

SHEETS DEPEND HIS PERFORMANCE I THINK 2 YEARS @ 2 MDD PER YEAR

SO IS LIKE MAYBE 9 MDD EXTRA

NEXT YEAR POSSIBLE PAYROLL 90-91 MDD

WITH LIRIANO,NEW LF AND BOURN BACK :)

NEW ROTATION: BEACHY HANSON SHEETS LIRIANO JURRJENS
NEW LINEUP: BOURN PRADO JHEY NEW LF FREEMAN MCCAAN UGGLA SIMMONS
