Man Sheets is geeked up still. Guess you sit around for two years and wonder where your career will go and now this – has to energize you.
absolutely – those two healthy will be huge. And they know how to pitch and can help some of the younger ones learn. Freddi keeps saying you have to run the guys out there, and he’s right. How else will they figure out what tools they have at their disposal that can get them out of tough spots?
Very few pitchers come into the league knowing how to minimize damage. The very good ones learn.
Mac couldn’t beat the shift that time
Hugo Z Hackenbush
Not always, Efrim. Just most of the time…
Minor, should take some lessons from Sheets today. What a job by Sheets……
July 15th, 20124:05 pm
WOW..So Where /what has Ben Sheetd doing fo the past two years..(coaching little league?) How did we get him? (don’t feel like reading thru this whole pas blog) just wondering-excited. this could be good…
July 15th, 20124:06 pm
1 for 4 with a double = .250 today with a run scored.
July 15th, 20124:07 pm
Ref the hot weather and attending games: my wife commented today that Atlanta needs an indoor baseball stadium… with Tampa Bay and Miami now with them, I can’t argue…..
Wow..So where has Ben Sheets been the past two years? (dont feel like reading thru the whole blog? This could be good
July 15th, 20124:08 pm
coach Joe, he’s been hurt. He was with the A’s in ‘10 and got hurt that summer. Been rehabbing since I reckon.

Coach Joe (don’t feel like reading thru this whole pas blog)
Don’t feel like doing your homework for you…
C’mon Varvaro… no drama here.
The A Bomb
As critical as I am consistently of Wren and Gonzalez this has to be Wren’s best day of the season by far.
Now he’s got to figure the rest of it out. Maybe he’ll wake up soon and realize Bourn’s the guy to re-sign because regardless of cost he is worth it to the Braves — even if by other standards we’ll be overpaying. Gold Glove leadoff men who knock out 200 hits don’t grow on trees.
Good to see the Muts didn’t soil the Sheets today…..
He was hurt, joe….got him for nothin really.
July 15th, 20124:10 pm
Wow ther is No one at the game…
Which proves my point that a lot of corporations and online sites buy the ticket packages and people choose not to but the tickets or not go overall
wow they are playing cotton eyed joe
The Music they play at Tooner Field Sucks
as I said last nite A Bomb, I’m skeptical he will ever have a season this good again
Now THAT is the way to start a 9th inning with a five-run lead…
I like Varvaro.
July 15th, 20124:11 pm
SS Jose Peraza has been promoted to Danville. Definitely one to watch.
Jack Wilson………Who? Janish……….Jack wont be missed……
Marlins load the bases in the 9th, but K, foul pop – collision but Harper catches Omar fly to end the game…Nats win 4-0…
July 15th, 20124:12 pm
And for those wanting Omar back, he just got the last out in Miami. Marlins lose 4-0.
Good catchers don’t grow on vines either…
That said, we’ll never keep both. Glad it’s not my call.
Janish says “To Sheets, you are like the buzzing of flies to him!”
And as I said last night Nick — I realize the Georgian is going to be re-signed. For a number of reasons.
wow nice play Matty
I sure hope the Mets get smoking hot as soon as they leave ATL. Muts vs gNats next for them
Hell Yeah Matty-Ice!!!
Diaz showing off that gold glove! Lol
Mattie D(for defense) !!!
July 15th, 20124:13 pm
that no “D” playing Diaz..
Good play Matty!!!
Good lineup Freddi
Bases loaded no outs, Marlins could not score. Nats win.
July 15th, 20124:14 pm
Exactly what I am hoping. They ought to be good n’ pissed after this series.
Tony…. one…. more… out….
Might also be one of Gonzalez’s best days of the season benching his godson.
Kudos to both Wren and Gonzalez.
July 15th, 20124:15 pm
So far…..great job by the pen too.
Look at Matty!!!!
My version of the Mets’ theme song:
Meet The Mets,
Meet Beat The Mets,
Step right up and greet sweep the Mets!
How sweep it is
Matt (Gold Glove) Diaz!!!!
BOOTY SHAKIN LIKE HELL YEAH!!!
How Sweep It Is!!!
July 15th, 20124:16 pm
Two fabulous plays by MattE D! Sheets! Sweep!!!
GREAT GAME TODAY!!! And the bullpen has been lights out since VENTERS has been DL’d…. he’s toxic this year (and realize he was lights out last year)
I’m as happy for Sheets’ 9 year old as I am anyone…
Great story being urged on by the kid. The kid will always remember today!
And so will the Mets pitching coach…lol
SWEEEEEEEEP Two in a Row!
you are right. Maybe that will get them thinking. Great win.
Defensive replacements always help in the 9th.
Sweep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Diaz!!!!!!!!!Sheets!!!!!!!!!Janish!!!!!!! Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 15th, 20124:17 pm
Season high 7 game winning streak!
Call the Braves butter, they’re on a roll.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
Ah, love sweeping the Mets! Great job, boys! So happy for Ben Sheets—waytago!…
Another Clueless Blogger
July 15th, 20124:18 pm
Oh Mets R Best, you predicted a sweep and you were soooooo right!
Rainbows and butterflies.
Way to go, boys!
Gold glove Diaz strikes twice in one frame!!
I love it!
July 15th, 20124:20 pm
From the overplayed AT&T car radio spot to the new Nissan “Summer Lovin” concert I sure am glad Braves are winning, otherwise bricks would be flying through the TV screen.
Coach (2012 Fried's Beisbol Fandango)
Seven in a row, longest winning streak of the season. Not to mention being ten games over .500
July 15th, 20124:21 pm
“when mom got sick…”
“now, i can focus on what’s really important.”
That lady in the Suntrust commercial is cold…
July 15th, 20124:22 pm
Yeah, where is Metsrbest?
Sheets and giggles (as seen on twitter)
That GA lottery commerical is getting annoying, too.
July 15th, 20124:27 pm
Okay, now Tom Glavine sounds better about the Mets. Saying Johan had chances to get outs and didn’t do it.
July 15th, 20124:28 pm
Did the blog die?
July 15th, 20124:29 pm
Next 15 games are key for this team, (especially the next seven) as they get 2 winning tams for 7 games and then 8 straight against the lowly Marlins and Phillies, really need to go 9-6 during that span
What I want to know is where are all the “I’m not a GM, but I think I am” Negative Nancys that were carping about the Sheets deal. He was awesome today!
July 15th, 20124:30 pm
Just wanna add my “Congrats” to Ben Sheets! Love this team!
July 15th, 20124:33 pm
Now Braves really need to make a statement……..San Fran next………………..Annoying Giants!
July 15th, 20124:35 pm
I’ll talk later tonight. Let’s keep rolling…….”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
July 15th, 20124:36 pm
looking at the schedule , there is a chance that 18 of the last 24 games of the yar could be against teams under .500 (Brewers, Rockies,Phillies,Mets and Marlins) and 6 games against good teams (Nats,Pirates)
that bodes well
July 15th, 20124:37 pm
Holy Sheets !!!! Ben is back…….welcome to the Braves and good luck to you.
Anther thing I like about Sheets. He looks a lot like Stifler. That’s gotta be good, right?
July 15th, 20124:38 pm
in fact, depending on how the Mets finish the year, the Braves could only have 21-24 games against teams with winning records all year
July 15th, 20124:39 pm
left this year I meant
July 15th, 20124:40 pm
Good interview by Sheets. Humble guy. Baseball guy.
Good for him!!!!
July 15th, 20124:41 pm
Braves are 10 games over .500. First time since they were 26-16 after beating the Rays on May 20th.
July 15th, 20124:42 pm
that “heart” Prado commercial, tho will never get old.
And with that, I’m going to go make my grocery list and head up to Kroger. Probably going to be going in a big ole summer storm.
July 15th, 20124:45 pm
see yall next game. latter guys and gals
Well, gonna take my wife to the store to do a little shopping for the first time since her surgery. She is so pumped up for that. Later peoples.
July 15th, 20124:47 pm
Metslover21•2 minutes ago
Can you hate ANYTHING more than you hate the f-cking Braves.
July 15th, 20124:48 pm
The winning pitchers this weekend – Martinez, Varvaro, Sheets – not what most might have guessed a week ago…
We have “Seaver” and “Shea” now and we’re playing the Mets. How ironic could it be? _ Doofus(Goober and Gomer’s Smart Brother)
Well, I don’t know, where is the irony? Considering Sheets and Chipper were both fairly young Major Leaguers when their kids were born I don’t even think its that much of a coincidence.
Now, if say, Shea Jones owned a demolition company and won the contract to tear down Shea Stadium , that would be ironic. Maybe if Shea Jones and Seaver Sheets grew up to become Braves and spent their careers crushing the Mets dreams, yeah that would be ironic.
July 15th, 20124:49 pm
Hudson pitched 4 innings, Hanson pitchd 5.1. It sure was a relief to see a starter go 6 innings without sweating bullets all day long, giving up BBs and the such.
Minor has to step up the rest of the season, and have his performance math his spring training demand of, “…either start me or trade me.”
Ben Ingram @IngramRadio
Quick math: The #Braves haven’t committed an error in 56 innings ..
July 15th, 20124:52 pm
Loved todays lineup, use it every day, platoon Diaz and Henski, better yet Diaz and Constanza., guess thats asking for a little too much.
I reckon Minor got left up under the hope he can increase his trade value with one more good start
July 15th, 20124:55 pm
Have to admit I was skeptical of the Sheets deal and putting him in the rotation so soon but i’ll have to admit I was wrong and it looks like Wren hit a home run on this one.
July 15th, 20124:57 pm
Sheets’ best reward of the day: a bear hug with his sons Seaver, 9, and Miller, 5, in clubhouse after the game. Eric Hinske watched the whole thing and said “That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.”
My thoughts exactly. Watch out for your family heritage and intelligence being questioned by some on here though
July 15th, 20125:00 pm
Kudos to Sheets. Keep it going, big guy.
July 15th, 20125:01 pm
