Tommy Hanson is the king of slow curves. And he gets hit and hit hard.

Mid of the line pitcher, not the ACE we hoped we would have.

Lets face it, it will be yrs before we have another era like the 1990’s, the likes of Smoltz, Glavine and Mad Dog have not been replaced. Some have tried, like a fairly good Hudson and wanna bees like Hanson and for a couple yrs like Lowe, but these guys have not carried the torch of excellence.

The recent bunch have carried a torch of half ass mediocrity

Weren’t the Mets supposed to not have a prayer against the rest of the division this year?

Yes and the tigers were suppose to be the best team in the AL and the phillies were suppose to win it all last year and blah balh balh. The mets have talent, they always have, just have mostly underachieved with it.

I would imagine this move to bring Avilan will be a bad move since it has been so long since he last pitched. Sure, bring him into a high-leverage situation.

I was wrong. The inning mercifully ends. The Mets are supposed to have a pretty weak bullpen. Maybe the Braves can regain the lead.

I’ve never seen a staff struggle so much to handle prosperity. It’s almost like a natural law – if the Braves score some runs, the next half-inning will be a major struggle for the pitcher.

Our record late in games is good, but we’ve blown a ton of leads in the middle innings this year.

my argument against what Eric Karros is saying is:

if the umps got the call correct to begin with, Martin Prado would not have felt like he needed to run back to first.

the whole thing was screwed up because the umps blew an easy call.

Not only have the Braves not been able to replicate their rotation of the ’90s, no other team in baseball has been able to put together a rotation like that. The Phillies had a good run for a couple of years, but they didn’t have three Hall of Famers in the rotation for a decade like we had.

I don’t expect to ever see the Braves have a rotation like that again in my lifetime. I just hope we can put together one that is a close enough facsimile.

An umpire cannot put a runner in jeopardy. That is why when the out call was reversed the runner on first was awarded second. If he had been put out past second base he would have been out.

Fox and Karros need to let it go!

I don’t know the exact rule but if they reverse a call on the field I would imagine its a little bit like a deadball situation where whatever happened before the call was blown is where they pick up. Prado was on second and he would have stayed there had the ump not blown the call. Had he been between bases when the call was blown its a different matter imo.

In a situation where one of our umps screwed up…we always, instead of trying to make something up, would just have one of the umps step up and say., “I called timeout”…right after the “catch” was made in this instance. I agree. Our manager has a church softball game mentality so its just high fives after Braves score instead of thinking ahead to next innings.
