Really, a Horrible job done by Karros and Gene (is it Gene?) on breaking down and explaining to their national tv audience what all REALLY happened on that play and over-turned call. Give big credit to the umps for overturning it and they were absolutely correct to put PRADO back on 2nd base as well. That was some poor broadcasting, I’m afraid.

So Dickey won’t be back. So that’s twice this season he’s gone 5 or fewer vs. Braves while giving up 16 hits and 13 runs in 9-1/3 innings of those two games.

Hanson just refuses to string together two good innings in a row while the Braves pitching staff is incapable of keeping the opposition off the board after scoring runs. Pretty sorry outing for Hanson today.

Okay – Diaz catches that ball in left, Prado does – Hinske is hurting us defensively. And now Hanson is gone. Damn – need better bench players. I hate to be a hater, but…our replacements are such a let down compared to the starters it’s scary.

No matter what the bats do for Hanson he just cannot take the momentum to go out and get 3 outs with out allowing a runner. The guy has the potential to be an Ace, but this is so frustrating.

I am worried about Hanson. His lack of velocity in addition to his declining strike out rate, rising walk and home run rates paint a troubling picture for the future.

* Janish, 29, has three arbitration-eligible seasons before he can become a free agent.
That’s actually a plus with this acquisition. If he does good, he’s a solid bench option for at least the next three seasons.

Problem is, most great defenders off the bench can’t hit, and most hitters off the bench can’t field (or they’d be starters) Unless you have the $$$ to spend $15mill+ on your bench, you are pretty much gonna have these issues

OK…what if the umps had called the fly ball “trapped” & Prado stopped at 2B…but after consulting for 2 or 3 minutes…decided he made the catch. Would it be a double play…or could they “make up” another rule…where, since they signaled “safe”…Prado would be allowed to wander back to 1B…during the dead ball…and the batter would be out ?

Unless Hanson has 10 Ks he’s usually shaky or ineffective. Curveball looks so different from the fastball it’s easy to read and it’s easy to figure out why lefties are blowing him away.

NickB – I agree. For a backup, I’d rather have defense. With the hitting potential of our starting eight – one or possibly two missing starters can be covered up. The pitching right now really needs the defensive help – and they ain’t gettin’ any help.

Kinda surprised the announcers didn’t get why Prado was safe. Only reason he was “tagged” at first was because the umpire blew the call. If the umpire gets it right Prado would have been at 2nd no problems. Dickey gave up 3 hits and the lead. The short and end of it. Its his fault he gave up those runs not a bad call from the umps.

Typical Hanson and Hudson performances. The team gives Hudson a 5 run lead and he blows it, they give the head case Hanson a 2 run lead in the 5th, and what does this clown do? He gives it right back. Hanson is so out of shape, the guy can’t pitch if it is over 80, and even then he wilts after 5 or 6 innings. Anybody that thinks this pathetic pitching staff will get this team to the playoffs is dreaming.. The braves have no starting pitcher that the team can count on, and Hudson and Hanson or 4th or 5th starter talent and nothing more. The problem for the braves is that these losers are the #1 and #2 starters on a staff that has an E.R.A. of 4.00. Only 4 more weeks until football season. Thank God!!!

The problem is that by 6th inning he’s thrown 40-50-60 curves and it’s hard to keep rolling off crisp curve balls one after another. Plus the hitters have had 2 times to see it .

NickB…but what if he actually caught the ball…& say Prado was obviously gonna be doubled up…if they had originally got the call “right”…in my “situation”…would they still allow Prado to go back to 1B…bet they wouldn’t…I’m guessin’ there is a “Special Rule”…that allows umps to just make up a decision…based on what they think is “fair” in certain situations.

Tommy Hanson is mediocre garbage and he deserved to be Booed today.
Gas Can Durbin did not help either and once again a pathetic garbageperformance by a Braves SP.
Hanson has to go, what a POS piece of crap. Durbin did not help today but Hanson got what he deserved, he pitched a second rate POS game.
Its games like this that is why a part of the ATL Braves fan base does not give the love for Hanson. Sort of a Joe Johnson of Braves pitchers, he will never take us anywhere.
