At least a great quote on Fox: “Fredi said he might as well keep running Uggla out there because sooner or later he’ll hit.” So, using Havana Fats logic…why not keep running Livan Hernandez out there?: Sooner or later he’d pitch a no hitter.
Joe Buck and dumba..s McCarver might need Uggla as an assistant color man soon.
The Braves seemed determined never to give Redmond a chance to pitch in the majors, so maybe it’ll be good for him. It’s too bad we dumped Drew Sutton a few weeks ago.
Probably makes Todd Redmond feel great, being traded for a “no name” SS. He was all excited when he got called up to ATL last week for one day but didn’t get to pitch, even though his dad made it in for the game. These guys are on roller coasters more than a “Braves Fan”!
Janish makes sense. Younger player than some of the other mentions. Guess they didn’t really want to give up too much for the filler and Redmond isn’t very much.
Some of you are acting like we just traded Greg Maddux for a little leaguer. Any move made for a SS is TEMPORARY. Wren is not going to go out and overspend for a 5 week fill in. We need a guy that can play D for a few weeks, preferably one with minor league options left.
It is good getting one player who can cover 3 positions at once. Couple people have said he can cover 2B,SS, and 3B. That does leave us a little bit short though in the offensive dept., unless we can use 2 DHs in the lineup.
Janish has averaged 0.4 WAR the past three seasons because of solid defense. Below replacement-level offensively but as good defensively as plenty of major league shortstops with starting jobs.
Really needed Hanson to come out and deliver and that’s just not the case tonight. Really do need pitching help, pretty sad that 37 year old Tim Hudson is our best starter still.
Well, let’s start again – hate to see the lead gone, but…you knew 3 runs wouldn’t win this game. And Janish is better defensively than anyone we currently have – just can’t hit a lick
Good question. It is almost like the starting pitchers refuse to hold a lead because it happens pretty frequently. I wonder if the Braves starters breath a sigh of relief when they are blessed with an early lead leading them to be less focused.
I heard it mentioned earlier….Hinske is big; and should he have used his frame to crush the tagging catcher earlier? Tough one in my opinion; just isn’t done like that anymore and, yeah I think in that instance given the team’s current status—why risk another potential injury?
I understand the need for the good defensive guy, but the Braves have already said that Wilson would only miss a day or two. Just not sure why we would trade for another Jack Wilson.
Hard hit balls find Met gloves. And they score with 2 outs. They are going to come down in the 2nd half if their starters let up even a little.
Wright is a star and one of the best players in the league. Ike Davis is a nice player. Ruben Tejada is too. Not really a Duda, Niewenheis, Murphy, Thole supporter. But I think they have most of their infield set.
Hmmm…this looks very ominous..an umpire who strike zone is above the letters and below the knees…a pitcher who can’t help himself on the mound or at the plate at the moment..
