Minor doesn’t have to start. Off day Monday, recall Delgado for extra game Saturday, JJ pitches on regular rest on Sunday. Minor out of the pen.

Venice, not under the new rule for bringing up a 26th player. Delgado will have to go back to AAA after Saturday.

Even under old rules they could bring a player back up if there’s an injury. Think they could DL Wilson, bring in Janish and bring Delgado back based on the Wilson injury.

Tuesday Jurrjens
Wednesday Hudson
Thursday Hanson
Friday Sheets
Saturday Delgado/????

Love Kimbrel. Awful fun to watch.

Guys that throw 97-98-100 that pitch 3 or 4 times a week, or more, especially if you play for Freddi do not last very long.

Not many Wagners, Lee Smiths…Many more go away sooner than later like Venters unfortunately for him.

Hope I’m wrong with Kimmy but arms aren’t made to throw that many pitches that many times a week. Remember, he gets loose, warms up so he throws more than 15 to 20 pitches every day he throws.

Brian from SC

Kimbrel has pitched 35 innings this year. I think he can handle it.

Mark

35 innings sounds ok but getting loose and throwing hard already 35 days is my concern.

I think Venters career was cut short over the last 2 years due to overuse. Hope you are the right one though!

Delgado is 26th man, will go down to Triple-A and then the plan is for him to come back up to start Saturday in one of DH games under the new 26th man doubleheader rule that went into effect this year. Doesn’t have to stay down for 10 days.

As for the bunt, the 2 strike thing gets the attention but it should not have come to that. He fouled off 2 fastballs right down the middle. On top of that, he made no attempt to bunt it toward 3rd which is where it should have gone with men on 1st and 2nd.

Pastor is a light hitting SS. He should be able to bunt at any time and get it down. Karros was talking about how its harder than it looks. Then why can any starting pitcher the Braves have get bunts down. Because they practice it. He better learn to do it well because he is gonna need every plus he can get to stay up at the show!

About Paul Janish:

Janish will give the Braves a serviceable option at shortstop while youngster Andrelton Simmons recovers from a fractured finger and veteran Jack Wilson heals a dislocated pinkie. Janish, 29, was sporting a .237/.332/.391 batting line in 49 games at Triple-A Louisville. He’ll cover SS, 2B and 3B if need arises.

Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution caught up with Braves general manager Frank Wren, who said Janish was ” the best defensive shortstop out there that we could acquire”

Which is why I agree with what Wren did. Our GM picked up a serviceable SS who can also cover 2B and 3B, Janish also plays solid defense. Which is where Janish’s values lies and Wren gave up virtually nothing in return, other than Todd Redmond, a 27-year-old who has spent the last four seasons in Triple-A.

I don’t agree with sending delgado down, but the deal is done and we shouldn’t be surprised. Along with the comments about the ego involved with sending a first rounder to the minors, Fredi’s refusal to let Delgado work out of jams suggests a lack of confidence in the young man’s abilities. Just what do they find lacking in Delgado? Surely it’s not physical talent. Do they think the problem is between the ears? If so, I worry that they might have misread the guy.

Doesn’t necessarily mean Delgado is the one on the chopping block. Might be keeping Minor up for trade-showcasing purposes.

I would kinda like to see Randall move to the ‘pen if we can acquire another starter and Sheets doesn’t fizzle. It would help keep his innings down and I think his stuff would really play up in short stints. Could really help us…we need a RH reliever badly.
