I know Kimbrel will be at his highest value after the season, but I’m not trading that kid for nothing short of part of a package that brings us either a front of the line starter or a power bat. No deal for prospects.
Well, kudos to the Braves – glad for the win. I think they won in spite of the inferior defensive coverage/speed. Sorry to see Chipper and Mac’s streaks end. But what a game – clutch offense in the 8th – shutdown pitching in the 9th.
Kimbrel will start to get very expensive in 2014 starting arbitration. He will set records for relief pitchers in terms of salary. But we’ll worry about that then.
Tom Collins (yeah I know his name is Terry but I’m thirsty) just used Edgin, Beato, and Byrdak two nights in a row. With an afternoon game tomorrow, their bullpen might be pretty thin.
Wow great win!!!! Lets sweep tomorrow and go up on the Muts by 3 1/2 games. This series could set the tone for the remaining of the 2nd half. This game also shows the Braves are an all around better team. The bullpen will sink the Muts in the second half starting pitching can only carry you so far without a dependable bullpen. Also lets point out the Braves are now 3-33 trailing after 7 on the season. That stat definatly has to improve in order for the Braves to catch the Nats. For that matter make the big stage.
Excellent win Braves!!!! Two game swings when you play a divison team so a big game!! Let’s hope Sheets is on tomorrow and we sweep the Mets outta town!!
Back to .500 at home, six game winning streak, and nobody got hurt today. Tomorrow two new players for us starting, hope they fit in well and play with some heart and intensity as we go for a sweep against the Mutts!
Who will go down to make room for Janish? I’m hoping Fredi is smart enough to get Prado out of SS tomorrow. I’d rather have The Rev playing there than Prado full time.
We just don’t get the little things done enough to beat the good teams. Happened with the Phillies the last few years and now its the Nats. Todays performance against good teams equal a loss.
Janish will do a good job with the glove, he’s wayy better than Wilson in that regard, will barely notice the difference between he and Simmons, If Mac and Uggla can keep it going, well we won’t be too worried about his meh bat in the 8 spot
Funniest thing I heard by the announcers in bottom of 8th, two strikes against Prado is advantage pitcher. Prado has always been a pretty good 2 strike hitter because of his approach. As soon as they said it i thought wouldn’t be surprised to still see MVPrado still get the job done and he did. Great win
Funny how jagoffs that hurl derogatory comments at “their” team suddenly become fans again after a win… not a single one of you disparaging name-callers could even hope to be an asset to an American Legion team…. how in the name of Mike can you little people call yourselves fans….
Fun game today! I really enjoy some clutch two out hitting. Our bench is a real concern, but we can worry about that tomorrow. Uggla appears to be coming around as well.
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
#Braves send down Randall Delgado to make room on roster for Ben Sheets. Jack Wilson placed on DL to make room for Paul Janish.
I’m assuming Minor will be skipped with the off day Monday and used as an extra lefty out of the bullpen. If not, the Braves are dumber than I thought. Minor should not be in this rotation.
Minor will have to start on next Saturday or Sunday. I would start him Saturday to give a lefty-righty look in the double-header with Delgado. That would give Sheets an extra day for a start next Sunday.
Kimbrel will break Papelbon’s records for arbitration salaries for relievers, unless the Braves do something to lock him up long term. That’s not something you see often with relievers, for good reason.
The national announcers were second guessing Fredi the whole game and were killing him before and after Pastornicky struck out on the bunt. Their argument was Wrong move. Wrong time. Wrong player.
