The A Bomb
July 14th, 20127:37 pm
We’re glad as well, phil…..sigh and have a cookie.
Fredi’s got to tip his ???
July 14th, 20127:38 pm
hmm that looked like a good pitch
Looks like it could potentially be rosin.
Need to be careful – Duda can park one in the seats
Young Mr K
HELL YEAH KIMMIEEEEEE
COMEBACK WIN STYLE! THE FINEST STYLE
Kimmie right now is more dominant that Smoltz was in 2002
Braves score 3 in 8th inning for 8-7 win over Mets, sixth win in a row, Kimbrel strikes out side in 9th for 27th save
Nice win and 6 in a row.
And it was on many national markets too
Not too shabby…
That is his game Trey, power, you cannot hold a talent like that back.
And once again, Kimbrell comes through.
Kimbrel is filthy sick.
It’s nice to have a closer who can shut the door.
Fredi, how about ths winning streak. I just keep running them out there.
HEAT CHECK FOR KIMBREL!!!
July 14th, 20127:39 pm
Wins a win any way you get it!
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
It’s so nice when it happens good!…
Great win, boys!!…
Well, then again… Kimbrel is throwing jus pure filthy stuff. WOW.
We won this game in spite of Fredi! That’s who our manager is….
Freaking crazy, nut, nail-bitting game…
62 k,s in 32 inning for Kimbrell!!!!!!!!
THAT WAS A 2010 WIN!
Brave New World
July 14th, 20127:40 pm
BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN! BRAVES WIN!
Leave Prado at SS.
Brian from SC
Two days in a row…great job by the offense to come through for the pitching/defense. Told ya they were going to have to do that with Simmons out.
Wonder if the Mets are tipping their caps to the Braves now.
July 14th, 20127:41 pm
I know Kimbrel will be at his highest value after the season, but I’m not trading that kid for nothing short of part of a package that brings us either a front of the line starter or a power bat. No deal for prospects.
I’m sure Gonzalez is now HAPPY with 2 OUT OF 3. Gardening tomorrow.
This is the kinda “win”…that can stick with you a while…and lead to a good run.
Already 6 in a row – I would not be unhappy with a bunch more…
Hugo Z Hackenbush
This team is the worst team in the universe…except when they win!
It took him a whole 13 pitches to K three batters. C’mon Kimbrel, can’t you do better than that?
Thanks Disgusted. I have no doubt we’ll get there, and beyond.
Fredi, it seems this team is winnng in spite of the moves you make. You just have to tip your cap.
Well, kudos to the Braves – glad for the win. I think they won in spite of the inferior defensive coverage/speed. Sorry to see Chipper and Mac’s streaks end. But what a game – clutch offense in the 8th – shutdown pitching in the 9th.
July 14th, 20127:42 pm
Let’s hope Ben has his Sheets together tomorrow.
Can Prado pitch?
Kimbrel is the BOMB!!! Bravos are the BEST!!
Oh where Oh where is Mets Are Best?? About that sweep you were talking about. Any two year old can talk about it.
GO BRAVES!!! Sweep Sweep Sweep
Finish it off tomorrow.
July 14th, 20127:43 pm
Kimbrel will start to get very expensive in 2014 starting arbitration. He will set records for relief pitchers in terms of salary. But we’ll worry about that then.
Tom Collins (yeah I know his name is Terry but I’m thirsty) just used Edgin, Beato, and Byrdak two nights in a row. With an afternoon game tomorrow, their bullpen might be pretty thin.
6 in a row!!!!!!!!!! Yippee
You wont hear this in the quotes though because they avoid reality
We aren’t playing very well and certainly not like a playoff team!
Not meant to be negative – Just the truth
Wow great win!!!! Lets sweep tomorrow and go up on the Muts by 3 1/2 games. This series could set the tone for the remaining of the 2nd half. This game also shows the Braves are an all around better team. The bullpen will sink the Muts in the second half starting pitching can only carry you so far without a dependable bullpen. Also lets point out the Braves are now 3-33 trailing after 7 on the season. That stat definatly has to improve in order for the Braves to catch the Nats. For that matter make the big stage.
Talk about a rollercoaster ride… and I don’t like rollercoasters.
Good win, and good evening to all. Late dinner for me.
Some teams have been known to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
July 14th, 20127:44 pm
Frank Wren……Sign Bourn….Give Prado a raise!!!
Glad to hear the good news from Ms Jerry. And congrats on the 35th. We celebrated our 35th 3 weeks ago.
Kinda fun to have a 6 game winning streak.
July 14th, 20127:45 pm
Bourn needs to be signed. Imagine if Nats get him? It’s over for a decade. GET BOURN or suffer.
July 14th, 20127:46 pm
Excellent win Braves!!!! Two game swings when you play a divison team so a big game!! Let’s hope Sheets is on tomorrow and we sweep the Mets outta town!!
This is the sign that your team can actually win games it shouldn’t; when your best starters can’t hold a decent lead and you still win.
Back to .500 at home, six game winning streak, and nobody got hurt today. Tomorrow two new players for us starting, hope they fit in well and play with some heart and intensity as we go for a sweep against the Mutts!
And Uggla got it all started………….
July 14th, 20127:48 pm
Who will go down to make room for Janish? I’m hoping Fredi is smart enough to get Prado out of SS tomorrow. I’d rather have The Rev playing there than Prado full time.
July 14th, 20127:50 pm
Jim Powell got it right, Uggla one man rally.
Great win….Kimbrel is a beast.
July 14th, 20127:51 pm
Janish instead of Pastornicky….. I guess the glove does make that much of a difference. I hope Andy’s back soon….
Lets go Marlins!!!!
Just for today
July 14th, 20127:52 pm
We just don’t get the little things done enough to beat the good teams. Happened with the Phillies the last few years and now its the Nats. Todays performance against good teams equal a loss.
Don’t get me wrong. Glad we won. But…
Janish will do a good job with the glove, he’s wayy better than Wilson in that regard, will barely notice the difference between he and Simmons, If Mac and Uggla can keep it going, well we won’t be too worried about his meh bat in the 8 spot
July 14th, 20127:53 pm
Why is Delgado going down instead of Minor???
July 14th, 20127:54 pm
Funniest thing I heard by the announcers in bottom of 8th, two strikes against Prado is advantage pitcher. Prado has always been a pretty good 2 strike hitter because of his approach. As soon as they said it i thought wouldn’t be surprised to still see MVPrado still get the job done and he did. Great win
Redmond does seem like a heck of a “lot” to pay for a 29yr old SS that can’t even hit AAA pitching
The only Braves
Lefty shortage in the pen
July 14th, 20127:55 pm
Funny how jagoffs that hurl derogatory comments at “their” team suddenly become fans again after a win… not a single one of you disparaging name-callers could even hope to be an asset to an American Legion team…. how in the name of Mike can you little people call yourselves fans….
Also Pastornicky having to play defense in the 9th, Fredi’s best case hopes, Kimbrel strike everybody out.
Fan since '66
July 14th, 20127:56 pm
Gotta give ‘em credit folks, that was a quality win by our Braves!!!
Disgusted, it is. I love seeing the 100 MPH heater, but it makes me slightly nervous. I don’t wanna hear about him having Tommy John surgery.
Fun game today! I really enjoy some clutch two out hitting. Our bench is a real concern, but we can worry about that tomorrow. Uggla appears to be coming around as well.
GO BRAVES!!! (Sign Michael Bourn)
Jerry, glad to hear that your wife is doing well. I hope she continues to improve.
July 14th, 20127:57 pm
Mark: Isn’t Avilan still up? We’ve got him and O’Flaherty
July 14th, 20127:59 pm
Not sure. Just know we have more righties. You could be right there though
July 14th, 20128:00 pm
Huge win and huge series win . The only down side is Tommy was not good today. On a side note who is Adam Heyward.???
Since May 8th, Kimbrel has struck out 43 batters and allowed 7 baserunners. I checked twice…there is no typo there.
July 14th, 20128:02 pm
I def heard Adam Heyward at least once too, ha!
July 14th, 20128:03 pm
Strikeout-to-walk ratio of 43 to 2 since May 8th. That’s just flat out silly.
Best thing about the Janish pickup is it means no more Wilson, I’m good with that
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
#Braves send down Randall Delgado to make room on roster for Ben Sheets. Jack Wilson placed on DL to make room for Paul Janish.
July 14th, 20128:04 pm
Okay, Mark. Thanks. I guess it’s okay for now, but I’d really like to see Delgado back soon.
Later guys, gotta run
July 14th, 20128:05 pm
If I played baseball on the PS3, on the easiest difficulty, I wouldn’t be able to strikeout 43 batters against 7 baserunners.
Delgado will be back next Saturday.
July 14th, 20128:07 pm
I’m assuming Minor will be skipped with the off day Monday and used as an extra lefty out of the bullpen. If not, the Braves are dumber than I thought. Minor should not be in this rotation.
How the Phiten Philthies have fallen. Only about 15 more losses and they will be out of the division and about 18 and they’re out of the playoffs.
Those bitches is going DOWN!!!
July 14th, 20128:08 pm
I think Chris Young of the D-Backs should get MVP votes just for hitting that home run off Kimbrel a couple of weeks ago. What a monumental feat.
IN SPITE OF FREDI
The Braves win in spite of Fredi!
2 poor outings by our best two pitchers and we come away with 2 wins, ain’t baseball a hoot? When you’re on a roll, good things happen.
July 14th, 20128:09 pm
Fredi how did Jack go from day to day to the DL. I don’t even know why you are talking to me.
Kevin McAlpin @KevinMcAlpin
For those asking, there’s a new rule that you can call up a 26th player for doubleheader situations like next Sat.
July 14th, 20128:10 pm
IN SPITE OF FREDI IS THE RIGHT CALL.
if Kimbrel stays healthy, he’s a legit threat to be at 500 saves in 10 years,
He will also end up costing $13 mill a year (or more)
Minor will have to start on next Saturday or Sunday. I would start him Saturday to give a lefty-righty look in the double-header with Delgado. That would give Sheets an extra day for a start next Sunday.
July 14th, 20128:11 pm
Kimbrel will break Papelbon’s records for arbitration salaries for relievers, unless the Braves do something to lock him up long term. That’s not something you see often with relievers, for good reason.
July 14th, 20128:12 pm
The national announcers were second guessing Fredi the whole game and were killing him before and after Pastornicky struck out on the bunt. Their argument was Wrong move. Wrong time. Wrong player. Then they explained their concerns about what it could do long term to a kid’s confidence to put him in that situation. Do you think Frank Wren was watching ?
July 14th, 20128:13 pm
Here’s a tip for a good Saturday evening…forget about the national announcers, Frank Wren, and bunting, and just enjoy the six-game win streak.
July 14th, 20128:14 pm
Doesn’t Delgado need to stay down 10 days?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
