Good for BMac. But his paternity leave still leave Simmons spot open. There’s really no excuse to play shorthanded when you knew several days ago you’d need a replacement. Even if they’re working on a trade are they just going to leave the spot open until they complete one?

What does one knit, if not clothes? You should totally make something and send it. How cool would that be! Maybe DOB could get it to McCann.

on of the advantages of having the AAA team nearby is that they can really wait to almost the very end to try and add a player, if not, then they can just make a phonecall and in less than an hour have a guy ready to play

The loss of Simmons really hurts. The Braves’ management should take action against players who insist on these head-first slides. Heyward’s shoulder problems and now Simmon’s broken finger could have been avoided. If the traditional slide was good enough for Ty Cobb and Hank Aaron, it should be good enough today. Start with fines and benchings for players who don’t slide properly — their loss hurts the team.

At least Braves are looking for a SS and not just relying on no hit Jack until Simmons comes back. Pretty obvious sign to me that they’re ready to seriously win. Wilson could easily be their answer as he plays solid defense which is what you look for in a SS. They want more.

I think good a negotiator uses whatever means at his disposal to further his position. If Wren thinks looser lips help his cause, I’m all for it. We don’t even know if these leaks are from our side, but if they are, I think you have to give ‘em credit for doing it with a purpose.

If you can’t give ‘em that credit, then you don’t trust him in the job, and then Jed, well, I don’t even want to know you.

ChattTownBrian

kelevra, Wren is as tight lipped about trades as any GM after he got burned on the Peavy/Furcal thing a few years back. This vet SS thing is a minor trade anyways, I don’t think any GM cares if that gets leaked. As far as SP trade rumors – a blind and deaf person can see we need another one of them about now.

if the Braves play like they are supposed to, it really doesn’t matter if the Braves have a Rafael Belliard type at SS. That would mean that Uggla would have to actually start hitting, McCann continues to stay hot, Chipper and Freeman remain healthy and hitting, Heyward continues his resurgence this year, Bourn stays Bourn, and Prado stays Prado. Sounds like a lot but basically it is these guys playing to their potential.

A stop gap SS who is an improvement on the bench over Wilson is not a bad minor move.

Braves still need a pitcher. Looks like an emphatic NO on the Lester thought. I still think Wren is working on a pitcher that is not on the top 5 list like Shields.

I think the term “right now” is the key. Probably hitting and pitching are the biggest concerns, but we have a few more options with starters right now to try, and our hitters have been getting hotter as of late. But yes, hitting and pitching could very well be a top priority in the next couple weeks if certain things don’t fall into place.

I know a lady who after having her first one about 5 yrs. ago, have had two more since, and planned it to the point where she had both of the next two on the first one’s birthday. She did that so she would only have to have ONE birthday party a year, and one date to remember. Smart lady, huh? Her husband must be really proud of such a frugal(french for cheap) wife!
