On how the injury to Wilson occurred:

“It looked like he was chasing the ball and his pinkie finger went in [to the turf]. I think he’s going to be OK. I would be real surprised if there was a DL. Maybe a day or two and he’s back at it again.”

FREDI knows not of what he speaks. Not only about tjis , but FREDI knows very little about everything.

George-

And what are you basing your brilliant analysis on? Fredi saw the injury, he talked to Wilson & the doctors. And you…???

hilarious that the nurse did not know who McCann is – kind of sad actually!!

Avilan is still on the roster, right? They could send him down tomorrow to make room for Sheets and move Minor to the bullpen

as long as Wilson can field he will be fine. It is not like his hitting will suffer much if he can’t hold the bat very well

Of course George knows more about EVERYTHING than Fredi…just ask him.

Always amazes me how the blog “experts” are more knowledgable than the professionals, who have access to far more information than ANY fan EVER could.

Prado playing short today is just another signal that a deal to acquire a shortstop is close. If a deal was not close then Pastornicky would be starting at short today.

Woody Woodward

You might be right, NC, but then maybe not. What if they take a look at prado at short this weekend, feel satisfied with what they see, and decide they can live with him there until Simmons return? As nolie said earlier, we’re weaker on defense with that solution, but we sacrifice nothing on offense. Our longer term problem is starting pitching. Just look at Chippers revealing comments a out that need. I’m not saying that wren can’t do both–get a SS and a pitcher–it’s just that the crisis at short may be less than it appears.

Where are all the experts that said last night that no way Prado would be back at SS today. They must be still drinking their koolaid with Fredi. They also expect a different result than last September.

brian

the BRaves most glaring need is still one more pitcher – reliable and upper rotation pitcher.

Shortstop is a temporary need though having that person improve the bench when Simmons returns will be a nice bonus.

A big LF bat will be an offseason need

Let’s see, Dempster has now pitched 33 innings straight of shutout ball. Getting to be more expensive with the streak but still fits the Braves current situation as any other team.

Some here will still say not a fit and instead quote career numbers. Hard to understand.

DOB McCann said he was yelling in hospital room when Ross homered. Nurse didn’t know who he was, asked him why he was so invested in game. “I play here,” he said.

I think the Braves would ideally like to obtain Dempster plus one more pitcher who will be with the BRaves for another year or two such as Shields

Hudson, Hanson, Dempster, Shields/Liriano/etc, and Minor/Delgado/JJ

Teen at short again today gives Wren some bargaining power at the trade table, possibly. I mean, we ‘don’t really need a SS’, right?

Last night I said we should stick Prado at SS for the time being & just go after a bigger LF bat. That would save us trade pieces and lock up a piece for next year. Either that’s Wren’s reasoning for sticking ‘Teen there today (to see if he can handle it), and/or negotiating power with other teams.

“……PASTORNICKY to SS: A TREATISE.

by richbrave.

The REV has a fragile psyche, me thinks. Otherwise he would have bucked up at the plate, and hit for a good average when sent down. Currently, .268 BA, .317 OBP, 399 SLG in AAA.

I think the PASTOR SS experiment is thru in ATLANTA. They’ve moved on to 2B and LF.

Don’t want to upset the apple-cart again by creating feelings of angst with a return to the scene of the crime…..”
