On how the injury to Wilson occurred:
“It looked like he was chasing the ball and his pinkie finger went in [to the turf]. I think he’s going to be OK. I would be real surprised if there was a DL. Maybe a day or two and he’s back at it again.”
FREDI knows not of what he speaks. Not only about tjis , but FREDI knows very little about everything.
July 14th, 20122:12 pm
And what are you basing your brilliant analysis on? Fredi saw the injury, he talked to Wilson & the doctors. And you…???
July 14th, 20122:13 pm
Woody, about two feet on either side of me
July 14th, 20122:21 pm
My neck hurts real bad.
hilarious that the nurse did not know who McCann is – kind of sad actually!!
Like Dennis Hopper in Hoosiers jumping up and down in the hospital……….
July 14th, 20122:22 pm
Avilan is still on the roster, right? They could send him down tomorrow to make room for Sheets and move Minor to the bullpen
July 14th, 20122:23 pm
as long as Wilson can field he will be fine. It is not like his hitting will suffer much if he can’t hold the bat very well
July 14th, 20122:29 pm
Where are all the morons that said no way Prado would play SS today?
Thanks for the shoutout DOB. Thanks for all your support.
July 14th, 20122:30 pm
Prado is not a long term answer at SS.
Of course George knows more about EVERYTHING than Fredi…just ask him.
Always amazes me how the blog “experts” are more knowledgable than the professionals, who have access to far more information than ANY fan EVER could.
July 14th, 20122:32 pm
i don’t think Wilson is a month long answer at SS either
July 14th, 20122:35 pm
Most anyone knows more than Fredi. This was the man who said no changes would be made to the coaching staff only to see Larry Parrish fired the next dayl
July 14th, 20122:38 pm
Prado playing short today is just another signal that a deal to acquire a shortstop is close. If a deal was not close then Pastornicky would be starting at short today.
July 14th, 20122:47 pm
You might be right, NC, but then maybe not. What if they take a look at prado at short this weekend, feel satisfied with what they see, and decide they can live with him there until Simmons return? As nolie said earlier, we’re weaker on defense with that solution, but we sacrifice nothing on offense. Our longer term problem is starting pitching. Just look at Chippers revealing comments a out that need. I’m not saying that wren can’t do both–get a SS and a pitcher–it’s just that the crisis at short may be less than it appears.
July 14th, 20122:49 pm
Where are all the experts that said last night that no way Prado would be back at SS today. They must be still drinking their koolaid with Fredi. They also expect a different result than last September.
July 14th, 20122:50 pm
the BRaves most glaring need is still one more pitcher – reliable and upper rotation pitcher.
Shortstop is a temporary need though having that person improve the bench when Simmons returns will be a nice bonus.
A big LF bat will be an offseason need
July 14th, 20122:51 pm
Of course no one questioned Fredi last night about not having a back up for Jack.
July 14th, 20122:53 pm
“what? Meds ainta gonna step in and save the season???”
He’d like to, but FG just won’t turn him loose.
I feel like people think Simmons will be back the first of August…an optimistic return will be 6 weeks.
July 14th, 20122:54 pm
Brian–if sheets performs well, is the need met?
July 14th, 20122:55 pm
I thought FG letting Francisco hit against the LHP was questionable with Diaz sittin on the bench.
July 14th, 20122:56 pm
nurse didn’t know who Mac was? fire Fredi
July 14th, 20122:57 pm
I am sure all these questions will be answered in the post game quotes.
July 14th, 20122:58 pm
Matty D is .125 in the last month.
ACE, you make me tired. I’m outta here.
July 14th, 20122:59 pm
“nurse didn’t know who Mac was”
prolly didn’t recognze him without his catcher’s gear on.
He was missing his sandwich, monty
July 14th, 20123:01 pm
can’t see the game again on EI due to fox contract.does anyone have a link for the game? will really appreciate.
full of it
July 14th, 20123:02 pm
why not put prado at shortstop for the time being he is legit and probably the best hitting shortstop in the league
Bay Area Steve
July 14th, 20123:03 pm
July 14th, 20123:04 pm
your comments are tired Raleigh.
July 14th, 20123:07 pm
WW-”Matty D is .125 in the last month.”
.200 for the past 14 days whereas Juan is hittng .125 for the past 14 days.
July 14th, 20123:12 pm
Let’s see, Dempster has now pitched 33 innings straight of shutout ball. Getting to be more expensive with the streak but still fits the Braves current situation as any other team.
Some here will still say not a fit and instead quote career numbers. Hard to understand.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
DOB McCann said he was yelling in hospital room when Ross homered. Nurse didn’t know who he was, asked him why he was so invested in game. “I play here,” he said.
That’s great!! ♥ Knew he’d be watching…
July 14th, 20123:14 pm
I think the Braves would ideally like to obtain Dempster plus one more pitcher who will be with the BRaves for another year or two such as Shields
Hudson, Hanson, Dempster, Shields/Liriano/etc, and Minor/Delgado/JJ
She must be a new nurse…transferred from San Francisco or something…
CTB My neck hurts real bad.
Ah, I know how that is…
July 14th, 20123:23 pm
Don’t think they could afford 2 quality pitchers, I think Demp can be swung but not sure if they have enough in return.
July 14th, 20123:25 pm
thanks a lot for the link, BAS
July 14th, 20123:27 pm
monty prolly didn’t recognze him without his catcher’s gear on.
Or maybe the nurse only follows the Braves by way of The Blog and so was expecting BMac to be fat…
July 14th, 20123:30 pm
Teen at short again today gives Wren some bargaining power at the trade table, possibly. I mean, we ‘don’t really need a SS’, right?
July 14th, 20123:31 pm
Well it looks like some of the folks on here will get their wish and see Prado starting at SS…. I have to say, it makes me nervous
July 14th, 20123:32 pm
As bad as it hurts to say this…..I still feel a Yuniesky Betancourt deal coming!
July 14th, 20123:33 pm
Marco Scutaro is a solid baseball player. Willie Bloomquist is not.
Last night I said we should stick Prado at SS for the time being & just go after a bigger LF bat. That would save us trade pieces and lock up a piece for next year. Either that’s Wren’s reasoning for sticking ‘Teen there today (to see if he can handle it), and/or negotiating power with other teams.

“……PASTORNICKY to SS: A TREATISE.
The REV has a fragile psyche, me thinks. Otherwise he would have bucked up at the plate, and hit for a good average when sent down. Currently, .268 BA, .317 OBP, 399 SLG in AAA.
I think the PASTOR SS experiment is thru in ATLANTA. They’ve moved on to 2B and LF.
Don’t want to upset the apple-cart again by creating feelings of angst with a return to the scene of the crime…..”
Well color me shades of crimson. He’s-s-s ba-c-c-k-k-k-k!!!!!
Scutaro is clutch in postseason play. One more thing to consider over the other options…
July 14th, 20123:35 pm
The PASTOR returns to the scene of the crime.
July 14th, 20123:36 pm
Going to the New Britain Rockcats game tonight vs. the Trenton Thunder. Double-A Eastern League baseball. Seeing couple of good Twins prospects in OF Aaron Hicks and OF Oswaldo Arcia. Should be fun. Hope we grab a W before I go!
