Please get this back in hand, Huddy. I’m begging. My Mutts-loving customer does not need this kind of encouragement.
Here you go. Just plain negligence on Wren’s part. It would have cost them nothing to have some available for this game. Wren should be fired for this in my opinion.
The Met line up is a joke except for Wright. This inning is on Huddy.
It is looking like leaving the bases loaded in the first inning might come back to haunt them.
Wilson is no genius…let me jab my fingers into the ground and tear off a nail, break a finger, do something to disable myself right after Hudson screws up again and just before Bourn tries to miss the ball too and let the guy score….
What did I miss?
playing left field…..Babe Ruth Jr.
July 13th, 20129:11 pm
Now watch Prado look like Ozzie Smith @ SS tonight.
Wren has to be embarrassed right now. Face is probably as red as the Braves jersey tonight.
Jerry – Chipper at SS would definitely be full-circle. I like it. Unfortunately, we won’t see it…
How far is Gwinnett from Atlanta? No excuse to not have a SS here.
all of this because Victorino was moping before the game…
This game has just turned to shyt, in more ways than one. If the Braves were trying to make a trade, this hurts that because the other team will just play hard ball more. That lame ass Pastornicky will be up tomorrow. Just great.
Prado can’t be any worse than Jack at SS.
July 13th, 20129:12 pm
No Excuse…Its To early for the team to start using the injury excuse but they are bound to do it…
Grab a cup, Prado.
4 days to make a decision and still we managed to be short handed…
Which is the bigger idiot? Wilson for making that bonehead play or Wren for not calling up the Rev?
The A Bomb
July 13th, 20129:13 pm
CG Shutout for Cody Martin.
In his last 3 starts for High-A Lynchburg, RHP Cody Martin has the following line: 21 IP, 8 hits, 2 ER, 1 BB’s, 30 K’s.
Then Scheurholz should be fired too. Doesn’t he oversee every Wren decision, especially one like having one real SS in a game/series?
well this is exactly what the braves were hoping would NOT happen……Wilson hurts his finger, think that’s what it was, and Prado just moved to shortstop, where he’s played two games in his major league career in 2008
Did Jack Wilson do something that made himself look foolish?
This ump is clueless. Very erratic.
July 13th, 20129:14 pm
I feel so bad for feeling so little watching Wilson exit…is that wrong? Kinda? Meh…
i guess hudson has been watching minor and delgado pitch….cruising along and then cant get anyone out
Pastornicky would NOT have been called up- he is not going to be a SS in the future. It would have most likely (and probably will be) Josh Wilson.
Can we get Rev here from Gwinnett in the next couple of innings?
would a reporter please ask why they did not call someone up befor the game? they had 5 days to mull it over . idiots.
Prado at short? What in the hell is going on here………
Grandma…that’s funny!! if anyone on this team can do it’s Martiiiiinnnn.
Nah, he just got hurt, Tomahawk Mafia.
July 13th, 20129:15 pm
Wait! Almost everyone in these blogs over this past year said Prado could not play shortstop! I guesd he cant play 1b either but he already proved that wrong. I know it’s a different position and different angle of ball off the bat and different resposibilities, but dont say the msn cant play the position if you dont know…
July 13th, 20129:16 pm
Waiting to see what’s good with Jack Wilson. If he has to be DLed as well, we’re gonna need to find two SS… or a SS and a LF.
Add me to the “blame Frank Wren” crowd. Always, always, ALWAYS have a solid contingency plan at your captain positions: C, SS, and CF.
So Wilson is hurt…I was off by 3 innings.
(Rob from SC)
Huddy is toast
I would gladly sacrifice this game if it meant getting rid of Wilson.
This is death by a thousand cuts….

July 13th, 2012
They did ask and Fredi said…Prado can handle SS in a pinch if Wilson were to get hurt.
Jesus Hudson, you suck so bad.
They already explained why they did not call someone up…(undoubtedly, in retrospect, a move now regretted)…
Give me a effing break. How many scrubs are you going to give up hits to Huddy??
who says he can’t play SS
Wilson: Looks like he dislocated his thumb.
This just in: Braves Starting Pitching is bad.
Nice play, Martin!
This inning is a nightmare. Why do the Braves struggle so much to hold large early leads this season? I almost hate for them to score more than two runs before the sixth because I know they will blow it.
this is ALL on Hudson…..maybe the end is nearing for him too. He has failed during his Atlanta tenure too many times in important games.
That’s our Marteen.
Marteen is an All-Star no matter what position he plays!
I guess he CAN play SS!
Playing a position in an emergency and playing a position on a regular basis are NOT the same thing. Matt Diaz can play catcher in an emergency, but he’s not going to be an everyday catcher. Marteen CAN play short, but he is NOT going to be an everyday player at that position.
July 13th, 20129:18 pm
Anything he can’t do?
this are ace folks….still think a bat is what we need to trade for
Braves are 2-2 when “Average” Tim Hudson pitches
That was a nice play by Prado. Leave Pastornicky down and use Prado. Pastornicky and Uggla up the middle would be the worst.
“Ralph—I would gladly sacrifice this game if it meant getting rid of Wilson.”
Now there’s a fan for ya…
What was it Chip and Dip said a little while ago, “give Hudson a 4 run lead and take it to the bank” wow
Martin Prado makes it look so easy. first chance at SS in four years and he fields and flips to Uggla to end the fourth, piece of cake.
Still love those comments that talk directly to the players. Like they read the blog in the dugout. Funny stuff.
So what now, do we send Wilson for an MRI or home?
July 13th, 20129:19 pm
Greene Hornet – Prado has just vindicated your post. I’ll just take a food court sample of crow, though…
Teen is most versatile and valuable tool in the shed.
This is all MLB.com tv’s fault
Ok so Wren has all week to get a SS. They already knew they weren’t bringing Pastornicky up or Josh Wilson. Sounds pretty irresponsible to me to know all of this and still stand guard with Jack. Now he’s hurt and Wren is looking bad.
You can say that again. Pastornicky made a mockery of the short stop position.
July 13th, 20129:20 pm
What would it have hurt to get someone up for even just one game? FW ha just made a laughing stock of this org right now. That has got to be the stupidest baseball non move I have ever seen.
Wait what did Wilson do that was foolish?
our two best pitchers top out at 90 mph….with inconsistent breaking pitches……. its shocking our pitching stats are so bad this year
July 13th, 20129:21 pm
Keep Martini at SS and Please OL YELLER Jack Wilson!
To be fair, Hudson should have been out of that inning long before. The home plate ump missed two strike three calls that should have been the second and third outs.
July 13th, 20129:22 pm
Stizz..nothing. He was busting his a@@ to get ball off Hudson’s glove behind 2b..
Sure, Prado can play in a pinch, but why should he be in that position (not to mention we’re short on the bench now. too). There’s just no reason for it. They’ve known for days they needed a shortstop. Even if they’re close on a trade, they would have known last night at least that they wouldn’t have one completed in time to get the new guy here. All they had to do was call up Pastor, Wilson, Gotay, anybody. If the trade comes through tonight or tomorrow, send them back. There’s nothing that says they can’t be sent back the next day.
Rev can at least try to play SS again….
Time to call him up.
Nice hitting, Huddy!
Huddy trying to redeem!
July 13th, 20129:23 pm
Teen is the Braves tool shed. Just about anything you need to fix the Braves revolves around him.
Man Huddy is Outhitting Wilson! Nice!
He can still hit….
Agreed, he also gave up some cheap dribbler singles.
I have never seen Hudson as the true ace of my team. Never. We saw Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux for years and got spoiled, apparantly. Still though, as, much as Ilike Huddy, I don’t want him pitching a big game for the Braves. Problem is, who else in the rotation is really any better right now?
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
Great hit, Timmy!!
Here’s our leadoff hitter if we lose Bourn. Huddy!!!!
They did ask and Fredi said…Prado can handle SS in a pinch if Wilson were to get hurt.
That’s not the point. there is no reason to not have 25 players on the roster.
stizz – I guess hurting yourself hustling and sliding after a ground ball that got through the infield (instead of waiting for Bourn to come get it) is foolish to some. It wasn’t a dumb play, just had an unfortunate ending.
Tonight, what Huddy has lacked in pitching, he’s made up for at the plate.
Marteen is the best baseball player in the National League. Not the best hitter, not the best fielder but when you consider everyhting he’s the best plain-out ball player. No other player can do what he does. Go from left to 2nd to 1st to SS and do them all well. Then he is a contact hitter. Prototype 2 hitter. Really a remarkable player.
Problem is, unless you see him every day like we do, you would never know how good he really is so other people don’t get the pleasure of watching him.
July 13th, 20129:24 pm
Are you joking, Fredi? A sacrifice with Michael Bourn? Insane.
July 13th, 20129:25 pm
Bourn, for the love of all that is baseball, don’t argue too much and get thrown out.
Here we are in the 4th inning and here is a dose of reality. We have nothing left on the bench. Hinske is in left field, and Diaz is now the backup catcher since McCann is not here. That means he more than likely won’t be used as a pinch hitter if the need arose.
Impressive, Blue didn’t ring up Bourn on 2 close strike 3 calls even after Bourn yapped a bit.
July 13th, 20129:26 pm
Come on, Prado!
Mets are a good team, y’all. They aren’t the big jokes anymore. Got to give them some credit.
Jerry, Boscan was called up today.
Boscan is the backup catcher
