I haven’t seen them in a couple of days. Seems they were celebrating a birthday, but not sure.
July 13th, 20121:08 am
Finding a reliable shipper among them is the trick. Got any suggestions?
July 13th, 20121:09 am
Delgado has a run anda half lower ERA, I’d probably keep him but I think Frank has more personal invested in Minor so who knows
July 13th, 20121:10 am
hit the Web and check references is all I can suggest. have sone remaining foks in Atlanta ask around there too
July 13th, 20121:11 am
nolie, nailed it. frank has a lot invested on polished.
July 13th, 20121:12 am
maybe Jeffrey can drive it out, he’s got a pretty good head IMO
plus he is a southpaw.

Finding a reliable shipper among them is the trick. Got any suggestions? — Woody Woodward
DOB, may be able to steer you in the right direction. The players always use a car transportation service when they break from Spring Training.
Can’t hurt to ask him.
Me too, nolie. Saw in a lengthy post yesterday or the day before a critique of tehrans fastball. Said it had a tendency to come in straight. Always thought that delgados ball moves a bit more, but hard to tell on tv. Still think that tehrans curve broke pretty well last start with the big boys.
July 13th, 20121:15 am
at least Delgado has one plus pitch in his change, Minor is average across the board
July 13th, 20121:16 am
Good idea, bobby. Thanks.
good idea that Bobby suggested there Woody about players using transpo companies
braves had a real good turn through the rotation before the all star break and they are going to add in sheets.
hope it works. dont see it but, you never know.
July 13th, 20121:18 am
Some car forums:
just research their forums, shipping comes up all the time.
July 13th, 20121:20 am
delgado is going to be a really good starter. his ball moves. he is just young. when he gets in trouble out of the stretch things change.
If you can’t get his attention on here, this is his e-mail addy: email@example.com
July 13th, 20121:21 am
I think Minor goes down. He has more identifiable things to work on. He should be sufficiently humbled at this point. Only Tim Lincecum has a worse ERA, lol.
Someone said that RHP Hale was pulled in his Mississippi start tonight after only 5 innings and 80 pitches….Trade in works???
July 13th, 20121:25 am
one of Delgado’s problem with his curve is that he throws it a bit differently and his head moves a bit. can tip it off a bit I think
I wish the CIA could keep secrets as well as Wren and the Braves do!
July 13th, 20121:26 am
Woody, I am retired with time on my hands, my eBay is the slowest it’s ever been. If a driver would work, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m heading to bed, so will answer tomorrow.
Good night, good folks. Ball game tomorrow, finally!
July 13th, 20121:27 am
July 13th, 20121:28 am
one of Delgado’s problem with his curve is that he throws it a bit differently and his head moves a bit. can tip it off a bit I think — nolie
If YOU know that, then it’s a problem. However, it seems as though it shouldn’t be too difficult to fix. Do you agree?
July 13th, 20121:29 am
July 13th, 20121:30 am
harder than you would think. I’m sure he is working on it though, cause at times I don’t notice it as much
July 13th, 20121:31 am
think I’m gonna head off too guys. y’all take care. TTFN
July 13th, 20121:33 am
nolie, i always wondered about pitchers tipping their pitches.
greg maddux used to fan his glove.
meaning when he throwing off speed stuff just to fool hitters.
Man, tipping off pitches… With all of today’s technology, that probably wasn’t ever a problem years ago. Or, at least not to today’s degree.
Now, a pitcher can be viewed in high resolution frame by frame (30 per second).
July 13th, 20121:34 am
fanning the glove meant changing fingers.
July 13th, 20121:47 am

July 13th, 20121:55 am
here’s a nice bit of random Chipper info
The only players with 10,000 PAs and a .300/.400/.500 slash line are Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Frank Thomas, Stan Musial, Mel Ott, and Chipper Jones
93 wins (reese’s cup)
July 13th, 20122:00 am
93 wins (reese’s cup)
DAMN, I love their peanut butter cups. You win!
July 13th, 20122:03 am
Save that info. In 5 years, that’ll be good to bring up for the non-believers of Chipper getting into the HOF on the first ballot.
July 13th, 20122:32 am
nolie, last thing then I’ll let it go. I know you’re gone for the night, but you’ll catch up.
It matters because if you think I post under a fake account to troll or probably say extra foul things perhaps about health, family, or who knows what, then you probably think that person is me. You indicated that you even know “which fake account name(s)” I allegedly post under, so, you’ve put some thought into this or something and probably falsely attribute things to me which are not mine. See where I’m coming from on that?
You can dislike ol’ count_schemula all you want, but that’s it, because I don’t post under any other name(s). Like I said, prove it and I’ll mail you $100 so you get a nice dinner out courtesy of the defamer. But if you can’t prove it, than you should apologize for being so falsely adamant about it.
DOB, I’ll send you $50 c/o AJC so you can take your IT guy out to lunch. Just have him look at the logs and confirm that I only post under this name from this IP address. I switched to Comcast Business about 4 months ago, so my IP probably changed once around that time.
I rarely post under any other blog here, ie Bradley or Schultz. This is pretty much it.
July 13th, 20122:39 am
count_schemula* (at least, can that freakin’ asterisk, will ya?)
No offense, but there’s nothing nolie can prove, or you can disprove. Your last 2 paragraphs on that matter have no bearing on whether or not you use other monikers. There’s just no way to prove it. Even if you’re DOB!
For what it’s worth, I read a lot more than I post, and I can see why… STRONGLY see why nolie thinks you have different monikers.
There’s no proof, as I said, but if you asked for my opinion, you wouldn’t like it…
July 13th, 20122:56 am
I liked my asterisk.
I think they IP ban? So, they can probably get to the into?
If I asked your opinion on what? I can’t imagine anything I wouldn’t be able to deal with. Seriously.
I’ve lobbied for forums where you can register, and stuff like that to make people accountable and to facilitate the ability to look up what people said in the past, but this is just a WordPress blog We can’t even post pics or links. I’ll troll some if we’re trollin’. But it’s pretty important to me, enough to make this ridiculous stink about it, that people realize that this is the name I use. Exclusively.
I think it’s a bit of big deal if people are running around thinking that people say things under multiple accounts and since we have no idea which account he or you or anyone else thinks is someone else, then that means people could think someone offensive or otherwise that they didn’t.
Interesting that you too think STRONGLY about this.
July 13th, 20123:24 am
Another forum I’m on, Quora, makes you use your real name. That would be a bit much for people here, but, we discuss some fairly hardcore and occasionally sensitive or polarizing stuff over there without many problems.
Perhaps much to people’s delight. I’m going to rethink my involvement on an anonymous public forum. It really bothers me that people can actively attribute and run around believing things about you that are not true.
Have fun with it.
Go Braves. Hope Uggla hits his weight. Greinke is one year older than Maddux was. That worked out pretty well. Simmons gives me hope.
July 13th, 20123:33 am
SOSO. Have fun.
I have apologized b4 here when I thought I was wrong, but I don’t believe I am. The language, the subject, the tone all the same. I have sat across the counseling room from many very plausible folks, I wasn’t going to continue this until your last two posts.
Say what you will, I recognize your whole approach.. you really need a new one.
So, if you drop it I will too, but nope, no apology.
July 13th, 20123:34 am
shouldn’t have dropped in the Uggla snark either. Like I said you need a better memory
July 13th, 20123:44 am
No worries. But FWIW, you were/are completely wrong about on this one. Lata.
July 13th, 20123:47 am
about THIS one? nah Lou I wasn’t
July 13th, 20123:50 am
all in good fun, see ya again I’m sure
July 13th, 20124:00 am
Thanks for telling me which name it was, I’m going to look for “Lou” posts to make sure nothing bad was said about family, religion, health, etc.
And, I’m sorry that you can’t see that I’m actually taking this fairly seriously.
July 13th, 20124:15 am
Lew? I don’t see any Lou posts yet.
July 13th, 20124:30 am
Hello eveyone! I would keep Delgado, and trade Minor, or Teharan. Most likely Wren will be targeting a starting pitcher. I would get Greinke, or Dempster. Also I would like Wren to get Justin Upton. How ever he will be interested in starting pitching first. Don’t forget that Wren will also look at SS.
July 13th, 20124:34 am
Also, I’m wondering if Wren will do that Rockies trade after all. Like Minor, or Teharan, and a lower prospect for Scutaro, and Cuddyer. It has crossed my mind.
July 13th, 20124:48 am
If Wren looks SS? I see him going to the Rockies……. I’m betting on Greinke. Wren gets Greinke, and sign him long term. The rest we will have to wait, and see. All have a good one! Peace my friends, and talk tomorrow…..”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
July 13th, 20125:01 am
I could give you at least half a dozen other names too
July 13th, 20125:04 am
not all that big a Cuddy fan especially at 10.5mil for a coupla more years. rather have Willingham @ 7mil and maybe Liriano

Well, I bet Tyler Pastonicky feels pretty insignificant right now. Not only are the Braves looking for a shortstop to trade for, but they have other AAA options available that – apparently – they’d go to before bringing the Rev back.
That’s gotta hurt.
July 13th, 20128:40 am
They could be willing to include Pastornicky in a trade. To me, that makes some sense.
July 13th, 20128:41 am
Edward Salcedo with a 2 for 4, 1 BB, 1 HR performance last night. Last 10 games: .385/.455/.718. Encouraging for the soon to be 21 year old.

Uga-braves anyone else watch duck dynasty?
I watch DuckTales…
July 13th, 20128:47 am
I’ll be encouraged when he stops making so many errors… I think the OF is in his not to distant future!!
July 13th, 20128:55 am
Two Bold Statements that will be worth Noting
1) The Braves are Going Nowhere Unless Chipper plays No less than 60 games in the second half, his presence in the lineup is that important
2) The Braves Must and I mean Must play .500 Baseball, Til Lil Andy Gets Back
I still think this team can go 92-70 as I called in S. Training
July 13th, 20128:56 am
Heads are gonna Roll if we dont at least get one of the wildcard slots, This SEC fanbase is Hungry, because the NL is so Futile this year, No Dominant NL Team
July 13th, 20128:57 am
I watch DuckTales
That show still comes on?? What channel!!
July 13th, 20129:02 am
I have seen Ducktales on Youtube…
That Show was The (Exepletive) in the 80’s as well as Heathcliff and Dennis The Menace
July 13th, 20129:12 am
They aren’t winning 92 games if they just go .500 the next five or six weeks.
July 13th, 20129:18 am
If they go a game over .500 the rest of the way(39-38), we’ll finish at 85-77.
July 13th, 20129:23 am
Is this like the Witness Protection blog for Veteran Bloggers? Took me forever to find you guys!
I didn’t want to blog with JC Boscan III, bravesfan, Ben Sheets, or JackWilsonhas2′Range.
July 13th, 20129:25 am
If the Braves go 18-17 the next six weeks until Simmons returns (IF he does by then), the Braves would have to go 28-14 til the end to win 92 games.
Just won’t happen if they only tread water until he returns.
Eh, sorry, I don’t know that it’s on TV anywhere—I’ve got the DVDs (they’ve released all but Vol. 4, and I’d really like to have Vol. 4…). And I was finally able to lay my hands on a DVD of DuckTales: The Movie and watched it for the first time last night. That’s my kind of movie!…
July 13th, 20129:26 am
A Bomb at 11:40 … now THAT made me laugh.
July 13th, 20129:27 am
Having a real hard time grasping why they make a move for Greinke. He’s a very good pitcher that would make a difference the remainder of the season and push for the playoffs. Still, you need him to do more with a acquistion cost this high. He did not have a good postseason at all last year. Isn’t that why you go get a pitcher of this caliber? Not to just get in but make a deep push? Too many question marks with him regarding pitching in high pressure games. . Need a starter, but he’s not the answer. For what he costs, have to have total confidence this guy can win a playoff game. I don’t think the risk-reward is worth it.
Yeah, they do have some DuckTales on YouTube, but once you get hooked, they take ‘em away…
At least that’s been my experience with pretty much everything I’ve looked up on YouTube… (ITS)
July 13th, 20129:35 am
“Just won’t happen if they only tread water until he returns.”
I don’t see Simmons being a main cog in the Braves contending. If they had to depend on him to win 92 games, they we were pretty much screwed from the beginning of the year, right? Since we went with Pastornicky and all, and no I don’t think it was just because of his injury.
Is a good enough lineup to win A LOT of games. Especially if half of them start hitting.
July 13th, 20129:37 am
Rock (Cocaine), Chalk, Jayhawk…
July 13th, 20129:44 am
“Heads are gonna Roll if we at least dont get one of the wildcard slots” Tomahawkin
I like it!!…
July 13th, 20129:47 am
What about a deal for Izturis and Greinke? I know Izturis doesn’t have a huge bat but he could be useful as insurance til Simmons is back plus doesn’t cost much.
It’s not a matter of Simmons making the difference – it was a commentary on playing .,500 in the time (six weeks) that he’d be gone and being able to win 92 games as Tomahawkin contended.
July 13th, 20129:48 am
I’d rather get Brendan Ryan from Seattle. Decent player. Have him play SS. When Simmons gets back – cut Wilson.
That’s why I think at this point we need to be very proactive.
July 13th, 20129:50 am
Lew – Got ya. Yeh, I don’t think Simmons makes the difference though if that is the argument. I mean To say they will turn it on after he gets here, seems to be kind of absurd. It’s not like they have been great with or without him. They need their hitters to hit consistently. Bourn and Prado have been consistent. Everyone else seems to be hot/warm or ice cold.
July 13th, 20129:52 am
Just like I’ve been saying all along – If the Braves hit and pitch to their potential they will win no matter who plays short. If they don’t, it wouldn’t matter if Ozzie Smith was out there.
July 13th, 20129:53 am
“That’s why I think at this point we need to be very proactive.”
Proactive for what though? A starting hitter or a pitcher? Surely not for a no bat, defensive short stop? We already have that in Jack Wilson, who has been a pretty good situational “hitter” this year.
July 13th, 20129:54 am
I knew you guys were still over here! That new focal blog didn’t feel like a focal blog
July 13th, 20129:56 am
MFin04, obviously your not going to trade for a starting SS of a very high caliber cause once Simmons is back, what would you do with him? So I think your main focus is a starting pitcher, but it can’t be just a mid rotation type.. we’ve got enough of those, we’ve got to get a very good 1 or 2 type starter.
Pitching to their potential is the problem. 15th out of 16th in quality starts, pretty obvious what the issue is here. Shortstop is the least of the worries right now.
July 13th, 20129:58 am
I really have no read at all on how good Sheets might or might not be, but there could be an additional benefit to having him on the staff.
We do not have a veteran starting pitcher who pitches like Delgado does. Could be that Sheets presence might be beneficial in The Kid’s development.
July 13th, 20129:59 am
jeffrey d, yeah I saw where you jumped in there.. pretty asinine statements over there. Had to get out!!
“Pitching to their potential is the problem.”
So it hitting to their potential. Freeman, Uggla, McCann, well below their potential. Not to mention our main bench bat, Hinske is well below his potential. Heck even Heyward is probably below is potential.
July 13th, 201210:01 am
yes agree but I have more confidence that those guys will get it going and turn around the overall quality of our existing starting staff.
July 13th, 201210:02 am
before our existing staff does
July 13th, 201210:05 am
2 years out of baseball and two AA starts. Not really how you plan it the right way but with so many question marks, they really don’t have the timeframe to be patient with Sheets. Got to see what he has right now.
July 13th, 201210:08 am
I’d be alright with adding Willingham and Carroll to our bench. I’m just not sure what it would take to get something like this done. I know it shouldn’t take much to get Carroll but knowing the Twins, they’d probably ask for the farm for Willingham and at that price it just won’t be worth it.
July 13th, 201210:12 am
They could ask for the farm, but they won’t get bnut a few of the outbuildings for him and maybe a cow or two.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
