OH Steve: Steve Trout was left on the board b/c he’s an OF, and the Braves wouldn’t know a good OF if the reincarnations of Aaron, Mays, & Mantle came up to the scouting dept. and kicked ‘em in the shins.

It’s a waste fo time to fret over lost draft chances (unless your team really blew it with a top 5 pick or something) soooo many picks early never pan out, and sooo many late picks become superstars that’ it’s truly a crapshoot.

Nick, I’ve said it before, look it up. The DAY they signed Lowe was the most idiotic, reactive signing in recent memory. Yeah, they stank up the place in 08, but instead of thowing $60 million at him, it was the perfect time to rebuild and hoard some money. The Lowe signing triggered the optimism that caused the stupid KK signing, compounded by the need to waste more money on McLouth.

When you are the Braves owned by Liberty Media, Frank Wren DOES NOT have the luxury of screwing up. If the guy is not a lead pipe cinch, hoard the money and rebuild. The fact that Wren doesn’t know a solid positional player or hitter from a wad of used gum makes him an even bigger useless idiot. Hell, what did he ever do in Baltimore except waste Angelos’ money. This from a guy who parlayed riding Dombrowski’s coattails during the Huizenga $$$ Era into a career of GM mediocrity!

With Wilson-Pitcher at 8-9, you’re looking at giving up 7-8 outs per game and few rallies. And he’s not as good defensively as he used to be.

He’s a guy who’s decent defensively, awful offensively and basically on his last legs. We could’ve done a helluva lot better in the offseason — Punto, Keppinger etc.

As much as i would like to see MLB be sued over refusal to meet a slotted draft choice on the pre agreed on amount, i hope MLB sneaks out and leaves the Marlins on their own. The Marlins’ have been an embarrassment for years and all I can say is i hope the Marlins are left to pay every legel penny and then pay the player about triple what he originally deserved.

We just don’t need franchises like the Marlins drag proud long term franchises down to their level. They are in this to reap a huge financial profit by selling their team with in the next few years. I’ld like to see some regulations put in place to make sure that deal is above board.

Loria and Sampson are smart men who feel they are smarter than the other franchises. They plan to sell the team along with the stadium (paid for by the public) for a giant profit in the near futrure.
