The board will turn back to ugglas favor once he gets on a streak. And he will. Not his greatest fan, but got to think that we knew what we were getting when we acquired him.
I know there’s no way we trade Uggla, but just for conversation’s sake, are we a weaker team without him?
EFrim – I see your point, but conversely, if the farm is as weak as you claim (and I’m not doubting you), then they aren’t going to bring much of anything in return.
Bulk prospect packages will bring you more, buy the individual talent isn’t as strong as it used to be. Gilmartin can slide into a bigeague rotation next year – there is value in that.
DOB, saw your Teheran tweet about you not being impressed to date. Just gotta remember ta

well that would make a difference if EOF was only a LOOGY , but he faces both sides of the plate setting up the 7th or 8th, that’s not really hand dependent
arb rasies will prolly total 8 Mill, but if JJ goes, that may drop about $1.5 and Mac’s salary is already $13 mill due to his incentives so he gets no raise.
The Braves have 8 arb players for next year. How do you arrive at $8mm?
I think Heyward, Prado and Hanson burn at least $8mm in raises.
Lew–venters is a lefty, too. Not sure that righty or lefty makes all that much difference in the late innings. Are you saying we would have a shortage of lefties without EOF? I care more about the role of late inning relief. Just think that Varvaro could be effective in that role.
Also think that venters might be interesting trade bait in the off season.
Rival official says team is “souring” on Yunel Escobar and might be traded at deadline. LMAO. But he has SO much talent, how can anybody give up on him?
Grienke gives us the rotation we should have had this year. Beachy out with tommy john, JJ finally getting his knee corrected so he can pitch, and Minor and Delgado being the NL Punching bag. We could use a really good pitcher. Huddy to retire in 2 years, Um Bop Hanson cant do it alone.
SO YES TO GRIENKE. Would be a smart move to trade and sign a 5 year deal for 80 million.
Pastornicky will not be called up” He’s way to fast, Fredi prefers fat slow guys like Hinske and Francisco. Looks like without Canstanza the braves will go from first to worst. Fredi doesn’t have the power to take Chipper out of the lineup, only his boss,Bobby Cox has that power.
Woody – Seriously? You don’t think it’s important to have pitchers to match up in the later innings? Not every LHRP can pitch to RH hitters like EOF and Venters (when he’s actually on and he’s not now) do? And do you want Peter Moylan facing LH hitters in the late innings?
Rival official says team is “souring” on Yunel Escobar and might be traded at deadline. LMAO. But he has SO much talent, how can anybody give up on him?

Sheets was signed to a minor league contract – not sure how that can possibly be detrimental in the least. He either comes in and pitches well or goes back to where he came from and we spent diddly to find out. Very low risk high reward signing.
Lew–I’d err toward the guy who go a full seventh inning, which has been fredi’s preference, though heh as been tinkering with the lefty righty thing with EOF of late. I realize the sample is small, but Vavaro’s numbers have been better against LH hitters. Just like the way he’s pitched…he’s got promise.
We are not a playoff team this year despite being 3 games over .500 and 4-5 games behind in the division. This team won’t be there next year either. They have shown us all what they are about and its not much. This team for whatever reason just is not good enough to be a playoff team. They can’t even beat the teams in their own division, if you can’t do that, you don’t deserve to be in the playoffs. This team has no direction, no heart, and a worthless ownership group. Why go out and get more expensive players when all they are going to do is lose anyways? May as well keep your farm system the way it is and lose but save some money in the process. This team is just great at letting their entire fan base down.
With how poor the NL is this season, if the Braves can’t somehow get into the playoffs, then they’re sure as heck aren’t going to next season. So stop with the “WAIT UNTIL NEXT SEASON!!” stuff.
Also, as much as I hate to say it, Chipper Jones doesn’t deserve to be a All Star, sorry. The guy plays half a season and he gets to recognized as one of the best? Those were pure sympathy votes. That is supposed to be a game where guys who play all the time and earn their spots play, not a guy that is always on the DL, and taking all kinds of games off and not there to be counted on to help his team. I love Chipper and always will, but he doesn’t deserve to be a All Star, imo.
It’s not the first time that Retiring players with ecellent Career credentials were added to the All STar roster to pay tribute to their entire careers. I also think we can all agree that while Pastornicky doesn’t set the world on fire with his bat, he at least hits better than Wilson and gives a better option off the bench for our reserve infielder. He would also provide more speed on the bases in the late innings.
Freeman , heyward, prado and bourn all having a good offensive season…we all knew what expect from jones, and uggla is batting better than last season…our hole have been mccann if he can get in rithym we’ll be playing in october for sure…hudson, hanson, greinke and sheets in playoffs it’ could be great
No one pays any attention to NickB and Rick” After reading a few of their blogs it’s easy to see they are a couple of ten year old kids having fun with the computer.

What concerns me most about Grienke are his home/away splits.
Home 51-28 (He’s never lost at Miller Park)
Away 34-47
Coming into the NL East and having to pitch in DC, Philly and NY with regularity, against those fans, I just don’t know.

Plus, there is the chance IF he does require surgery, that the Braves decline the option, but follow it up with a 2 year deal for less per season.
Would like that…. at the very least, if we have too many starters for 2014, he can come out of the ‘pen and not be too overpriced.

oh I agree, the only way that JS would authorize a manager firing mid-season would be if the team went 5-20 in July or something like that.

what are they gonna do with the voting now? If Freese makes the team wouldn’t that be too many 3rd basemen?

I agree with selling instead of buying. Move Mac and Uggla. Plan for 2013 and use some of that money for a real manager (Francona cough cough).

well, I reckon any Wilson replacement would err on the side of plus bat over plus glove… with Simmons in there, avg defense would suffice

Stop wasting your time people. Bourn does not get in over the kid in Washington. People want to see stars and Bourn is not one. Truth.

Well getting Chipper in the lead probably helped get him picked, leaving a shot for Tony L’s boy Freese.

No one pays any attention to NickB and Rick” After reading a few of their blogs it’s easy to see they are a couple of ten year old kids having fun with the computer.

Thanks Murph…. grrrr
My wrists hurt from voting, I must have done near a 1000 votes for Chipper. People told me Bourn would replace Kemp.. grrrr. Now Bourny’s in a huge hole. We’ve gotta work harder to get him out of it.

If they wanted to see only stars why would they vote in Sandoval?
