And is the number of #10 jerseys up here is any indication, they guy has support from all over. Not just A-town. Heard from my friend down in STL that they love him there too.
Chipper has 6 home runs in 176 plate appearances this year. He had 18 HR in 512 plate appearances last year. Not much power left in the ol’ Hoss, folks.
It’s interesting that Chipper’s career hitting with RISP is almost identical to his base career stats.
Ryan Braun? Same thing. Derek Jeter? Same thing. Even Dan Uggla is within 10 points of his career average when he hits with RISP.
I don’t think most hitters perform much better or much worse when they come up with guys in scoring position than they do at other times.
I could be wrong, though, as I grew bored looking up player’s splits and have moved on to other, more entertaining, things. That talking dog gets me every time.
People really give a flying puck about the All-Star game? Maybe if 9 yrs old, could care less now.
Tend to agree, Frankie. Inter-league play sorta killed the All-Star game for me. I still watch it, but back in the old days, when NL teams didn’t play AL teams in regular season, the All-Star game was a big deal.
It was quite something to speculate how Walter Johnson would do against Ty Cobb (just kidding).
…how Hank Aaron would match up against Catfish Hunter, for example.
Maybe tonight we (a) get our first Monday win since the beginning of time (seems like) and (b) take some revenge for that Chicago series in May. Good thing I went up to Chi-town and got drunk the night before the Wednesday game of that series or I would have seriously regretted buying that plane ticket.
Okay, I get that. What the hell, a lot of people always though he was a reach at short anyway, so he really has to hit to have a chance there. He’s young so he has plenty of time, maybe he hits enough to play second someday, who knows.
@bravesgrl4life: well, I was there on Tuesday when they won. But even if they lost, no game at Wrigley can ever suck, not if you hit Goose Island before the game, have a Chicago-style polish and a couple tall-boys during the game, and then cruise across the street to the Cubby Bear after. We were there until almost midnight and then went downtown to an Irish pub. Unfortunately Atlanta has nothing like the Cubs pre- and post-game diversions.
Minor was ready to step up in Spring Training…He wanted to start or br traded. He got the talking part out of the way, now he just needs to pitch as well as he speaks!
Wouldn’t be surprised to the see the Cubs take three of four.
Don’t have much good to say about this team at the moment.
Perhaps I shouldn’t say anything but whoever it is who’s supposed to tell you not to say anything bad if you don’t have something nice to say never told me that.
Didn’t realize Heyward is quickly approaching many of his 2011 stat totals already… just needs 17 hits, 2 HR, and 4 RBI to tie his production from last season in those categories. He already passed his 2011 SB total.
Pretty good turnaround thus far. Hope he keeps it up.
