Is there a definition somewhere that says all star is person with best stats at a position in a given year? Personally I consider an all-star the person who most embodies the game.
ncbravesfan – Bat didn’t really vote that many times for Chipper. He was messing with me because of my well thought out, and accurate position on Chipper.
He then threw in the “extendheapforjimmyssake” to take a jab about that well thought out and accurate position.
Bat also knew that I didn’t vote for Bryce Harper 50 times. He is sitting back, drinking coffee and listening to the waves crash on the rocks. He really is an a-hole in that regard.
tiger297 – With the current set up, an All-Star (atleast the starting 16) are the most popular players in MLB. Actually, that should be the “most voted for” players. There are several starters that aren’t popular across the MLB fanbase.
Jimmy-and I think I’m ok with that…manager selection should cover t he prado’s of the world. I think an aged superstar should get a last shot because its good for the game. Unless its a Yankee or phillie of course
Not avoiding you. The first time I was in Ga visiting family. This year …… well, maybe I’ll write about it all sometime, but really this is supposed to distract me from all that.
See Tiger, I disagree with that. Placing him on the AS team because this is his last year? Why not have Mario Rivera there too. He might not be back next year.
Like I said yesterday, the Braves should have a “Chipper Jones Day” in September or October at the Ted. Do it to the degree the Yankees did for Mickey Mantle. Honor him that way.
Hate to break it to some people here, but Medlen is NOT a proven starter. He’s pitched an entire 102 innings as a starter, put up an average WHIP and an ERA of 4.31 – a full run per nine more than as a reliever and only incrementally better than Delgado so far this year – and has not started a MLB game in two years, not to mention not exactly burning it up in relief, either.
Yeah, we need some more pitching, but let’s get real. Medlen isn’t the answer, nor is Matt Garza, who’s ERA is over 4 this year and is 3.85 with average peripherals for his career. Neither is the difference maker y’all are looking for, but small improvements if that much.
Braves will not give up Teheran AND Delgado for anyone on the market and I would be surprised if they gave up Teheran for anyone unless Greinke agreed to an extension with the Braves prior to the trade. Even then I see the Braves doing all they can to keep the 21 year old Teheran
I got a haircut the other day at a new place for me, an honest to god barbershop, I mean it has a barbers pole and everything. Cost me less than half what I’ve been paying for the last several years.

9 runs on 10 hits for the Cardinals last night. Well, that’s one of the teams that will get the Wildcard(or the Reds). If the local hero’s are to play fall baseball will either have to win the division(doubtful) or beat out the remainding teams who are in the hunt. I think the Cards and Reds are a lock. Wildcard coming from East or second place finisher in the West.
Greinke and Khris Davis would be a great haul if we could get them here for something along the lines of Minor, Perez and either Pastor or to a lesser extent Ahmed.
Lew, yeah I know. Garza isn’t an huge improvement. Look at his career numbers and you’d basically be asking him to carry a load in a rotation that I believe needs a top starter. We have plenty of #3’s and 5’s.
Im Jealous Arkansas T. I hope to get a chance to come home later this year. You never know, though.
Bat, I had to start shaving the head years ago. I havent paid for a haircut in a long time… My dad was in the Air Force and got stationed at Eglin and ended up retiring there. I moved there when I was 2 years old. I remember a lot less being there than there is now.
Efrim, your opinion on “Dominican third baseman Kelvin Esteves signed with the Braves for a $300K bonus, Badler writes. Badler praises Esteves’ bat speed and raw power from the right side.”?
ChattTownBrian, yes I think that’s the issue. We don’t need another mid rotation starter, we need a true ace. That’s why I say we push hard to acquire and sign Greinke.

Send scout to watch Greinke should stayed in Atlanta last night to watch this sorry ass team. How the hell is a trade going to help when McCann hit and is the worst catcher behind the plate. Got Uggla who cant get two hits in a game even when the scorer gave him one and have Venters who pure sucks with the only for sure with him when McCann catching is a wild pitch and last we dont have a manager nothing but a Bobby Cox wannabe. FIRE HIS SORRY ASS AND LET HIM WORK FOR TACO BELL.
Jimmy: Hope so…. BMac just needs to rest up and get ready for 2nd half (and next year). If he wants to get “paid”, he’s gotta start now. I’m giving him until July 31 to start hitting or I’ll drop him from fantasy and pick up a pitcher…

Tina – What I think you are saying is that you weren’t please with the overall performance of the Brvaes last night.
And, I don’t think you are thrilled with FG being in the dugout.
Getting an ace won’t make much of a difference considering he’s only taking the mound once a week. That and the fact that who ever it is will need to pitch a shutout to get a win.
This has to be one of the most inconsistent Braves teams in the last 20 years. Up and down, up and down… 10 runs, 1 run, 15 hits, 1 hit, pitchers that look lights out, then give up a giant inning.
Watching Chipper hit into that double play in the bottom of the 9th… I couldn’t help but think that it isn’t right for him to take an all-star position away from someone more deserving. If anything he should be taking those days off to rest and get ready for the 2nd half.
This team stands a real chance of hitting the midpoint of the season with a 41-40 record. Given the amount of money they have spent… while it’s not the Yankees payroll it’s also not the Royals payroll… I don’t see how this is acceptable. If I were spending millions of dollars on a game and it was breaking even 3 months after release you can be damn certain I’d make some changes to try and get it performing better.
I don’t think an ace will help. The offense needs a kick in the pants… whether that’s Willingham or someone else, I don’t know, but until the offense starts producing more consistently, this will always be a win one, lose three, win two, lose four team. Can’t win if you don’t score runs.
I wasn’t in here yesterday to be able to chime in with my negative comment when the Braves PISS ME OFF
How the F do you only score 1 run off a dude that holds an ERA over 13! Over his past 4+ starts!
Only the f’ing Braves…
It really really makes my blood boil when they piss away games they should easily win. The Cubs: 1. SUCK 2. Had won only 10 road games all year! and 3. Had their worst SP pitching, we had our “best”

Jeff R, I’m with you.. we need more than someone like Dempster. He’d come at a steep price for someone that’s only a quick fix.

Dempster’s been on the DL twice this year, 34 years old and a FA next season. He’s not going to be that expensive for somebody to get.

TV legend Andy Griffith was rushed to the hospital in North Carolina early this morning … TMZ has learned.
The 86-year-old was transported by an emergency medical crew that was called to Griffith’s home in Roanoke Island shortly after 7 AM.
I have also seen unconfirmed reports that he did not make it…

Great, now I’m all pout-pout fish.

Dempster isn’t the answer either way.

From TMZ, which is usually right:
Andy Griffith, an icon of TV, has died … this according to Andy’s close friend, former UNC President Bill Friday.
Griffith, who became famous for “The Andy Griffith Show,” passed away at his home in Manteo, North Carolina this morning.

jeffrey d – Isn’t it easier to imagine Brian being in Locust Grove than it is to imagine he’d stop at 3?
I’ve been through there so many times, it just came to mind.
Odd name too.
I will say this, McCann will have a monster year in 2013. It just seems to happen that way to alot of players.

Very sad news about Andy Griffith, nothing like The Andy Griffith Show, especially since it was filmed not far from where I live.

PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!
