Thing is the bench is the exact same as it’s been all year. Nothing has changed. Not even an attempt to at least somewhat upgrade the thing. Diaz experiment needs to stop once and for all.
This is actually rare for us, to see temps this high for this long.
I’m Praying for Vennie-Macc Here
No, Damn that! I’m blowing in a Bag
All the braves quotes tomorrow will be how they came back, how they battled after being down four runs…blah, blah, blah….
Theres no such thing as a moral victory guys when u cant beat the team ahead of you
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
cabravesfan Currently 73 here…high for the week is 75 on Friday
Ugly again: 1-for-8 with RISP, 8 LOB (through eight innings)
July 1st, 20124:18 pm
Not my fault I live where the weather is perfect ALL THE TIME
July 1st, 20124:19 pm
For shame, Venters.
This was on a church sign:
“It’s not hotter than Hell outside.”
Except for the earthquakes
The A Bomb
Hand raised. Conrad has magic.
Our whole bench is a total cluster. Can’t believe a major league organization has this type of bench. In 2 years, we’ve gone from the BEST bench in baseball to the hands-down WORST. Horrible and embarrassing.
Raise your hand if you’d rather have Brooks Conrad back than Matt Diaz.
You could change a couple letters and been accurate as well. Uggla again
I mean, I woulda thought they’d say something about BMac’s not making the team. Not that I want them to dwell on it, but I dunno…they don’t really talk about him much lately…
July 1st, 2012
no you don’t Mitchell, you are thrilled beyond belief when you can claim that the Braves are embarrassing. why lie about it?????????
I’m going to assume that’s a joke.

It has become stressful watching him, hasn’t it? Sometimes I put my hand over my eyes and peek at the screen, myself! Good to see you on the blog, Tomahawkin
strikeouts don’t matter Mark, they just don’t
top 10 in career K’s
lots of really crappy players on that list eh?
yeah, but you don’t hafta be so nasty about it!…
i just don’t get excited anymore with runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs. why is that?
Braves dropped another spot in total runs scored (for entire MLB)
July 1st, 20124:21 pm
McFann, I really think it’s a “not rubbing salt in a wound” kind of thing.
July 1st, 20124:22 pm
Asleep at the wheel.
what was ross loking at?
Venters was squeezed twice on that at bat…..
Unlike cabravesfan and her beautiful temperatures/weather!
Sorry! Was just making conversation
Only Braves fan..is that a record 107 in Athens?
Venters will save the game for the Nationals.
July 1st, 20124:23 pm
Uggla hitting .232 and McCann at .226. But those batting averages don’t mean a damn thing, do they apologists? You guys lose your credibility with each passing day.
Venters will make sure no possible chance at a great comeback is in the makings. No way he says.
Roger McDowell has to make an appearance to the mound every time Johnny Venters pitches. Venters needs to find his form quickly. As do everyone else on the Braves pitching staff.
I mean, I woulda thought they’d say something about BMac’s not making the team.
What’s there to say? He didn’t even come close to “earning” it, unfortunately.
One plus is that this helps the Nats. Would much rather see them win the division than the Mets, Phillies, or Marlins.
then McClellan calls the same pitch a strike ………..
July 1st, 20124:24 pm
Venters walked Harper after being ahead in count 0-2
go play in traffic with your kids so they don’t pollute the gene pool for the rest of society ya nimrod
cabravesfan, please don’t rub it in.
Jonny . . . .
Fredi looking good with his managing skills again today.
Venters just sucks so bad. He creates his own jams and then blows the game open.
July 1st, 20124:25 pm
Way to go, Jonny.
Venters’ luck on ground balls has been all bad this years
Braves home record. Not pretty.
Not doing good against NL east either.
Another run given up by JV, glad I cut him from my fantasy team … those missed scoring oppurtunities hurt us.
Rest assured if Uggla can hang around long enough he’ll join some of those guys in the strikeout category just not the production one because most those guys didn’t hit .235
Why does this team bother to show up?
Oh wait, they didn’t.
If JJ needed to go down to get it worked out, then Jonny has clearly reached that stage, too!! It’s probably past time for that, in fact!
Venters is just awful. This team has some real problems with its pitching.
Send Venters down to AAA
That is ballgame.
And I’m usually optimistic.
Leave him in now geeeeez. If you haven’t realized Jonny doesn’t have it this year then you wont realize it the rest of the year.
GAME, SET and MATCH.
While the Braves have few that are really better, I wonder if the Braves would consider demoting Venters.
July 1st, 20124:26 pm
Thank you Jonny and Fredi.
Venters being replaced by CMart. And that’s something we wouldn’t have imagined a year ago.
not raising my hand on that silly choice
Venters good for 1 everytime
9-14 against NL east if I did my math correctly…. 9-15 if this score holds up
18-20 at home. Pathetic.
Don’t be fooled…
When the Braves go to their bench and bring in the likes of Diaz, Wilson, Francisco and Hinski (this year), It gives the other team an out position. And those guys are usually brought in for a big AB.
And don’t for one second think the opposing team doesn’t know that and pitch accordingly to the players in the Braves lineup who might hurt them.
= very frustrating.
Jaded Braves Fan
The Nats came into Turner Field for the second time in a month and showed that they’re a better team than the Braves. They have a better rotation, a better bullpen, better managaer, and they execute better offensively.
The Braves will have to play significantly better in the second half and probably make a big trade or two if they hope to catch these guys.
July 1st, 20124:27 pm
I just Turned It off Again!
I’m bout to start Weeping like a Puppy!
Its Painful to see My Boy Vennie Macc Pitch Like This!
Oh well the Blue Brothers Comes on in 10 minutes…keep me updated
just better talent. and just think tomorrow is monday we don’t win on monday.
You are correct. Venters can has the ball bounce his way.
You have a bad day or something? Real rude to Jerry and Tina!
This team is so inconsistent
Venters needs to go to AAA
ncbravesfan, when this game is over I’m going to post some home numbers that will absolutely appall you.
Its time to send Venters to the minors to work out his problems. It was good enough for JJ.
Fredi just doesn’t get it. Zimmerman is right handed, Venters has been terrile just about every time out there. He is really clueless and stubborn.
July 1st, 20124:28 pm
batting avg doesn’t matter ya boob, OBP is much more important…
ya know what, believe whatever you want, but you are wrong, and as you old farts die off and the new more educated fans take over, these arguments will become less and less prevalant, just as the belief in a flat earth went away over time, and how we believe in smart things like evolution now
July 1st, 20124:29 pm
it looks like Chipper gave him a lousy throw
It’s a wonder anyone spends their hard earned money and endures 100+ degree temps to go to the Ted. I certainly wouldn’t.
July 1st, 20124:30 pm
This team does nothing correctly anymore. Bad throw from Chipper and more inherited runners score. Such a bad team. It is a wonder that the Braves are above .500. How long can they keep Fredi Gonzalez around?
OUCH on that 4:04 Post! lol
That was Brutul!
TOBF – You’re in Athens too?

Could you be any more of a know-it-all? The reason a lot of the SABR crowds ideas are being slowly accepted is because they’re presented with such smarter-than-thou condescension.
Shame, too, because a lot of their ideas have merit.
July 1st, 20124:31 pm
hey!!! lets watch that dead old F@rt talk
Braves can us All-Star break. Hope Wren can spin some majic and get a pitcher and maybe a RH hitter.
Best team in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“9-14 against NL east if I did my math correctly”
fortunately for the Phils they get the Braves next weekend. Swept by the Fish and with the Mets coming in, they’ll be glad to face someone they can actually beat
5 runs for the Braves coming up in the 9th inning….
I thought Chipper’s problem was his knees, not his arms.
Retire son. Scoop up some small amount of dignity inside that gut of yours and do the right thing.
Look forward to the Braves getting the Mondya’s victory procession started tomorrow.
Nats have sucked the life out of them for this game. I really though that the Braves would take this series after they won yesterday. Huddy has to be the anchor of this rotation, and give the team a chance to win the game. He didn’t do that today.
Ahhh Chip, story of the day is not Ben Sheets… It’s the Braves get routed at home, AGAIN!
I’m Still on the DL…I should be back into ingame Blogging Shape in 7-10 days
July 1st, 20124:34 pm
they’ll be glad to face someone they can actually beat
This^ … Hahahahahaha
Hudson sunk the team in the 1st fu**** inning. Thanks “ace”.
No, Kennesaw. I just follow weather, so I know some temps from around the area.
July 1st, 20124:35 pm
Where’s Whiskey man today?
I know. Just givin’ you a hard time…
MIBravesFan I really think it’s a “not rubbing salt in a wound” kind of thing.
Yeah, probably…just thought they’d say something. Not a huge deal…
July 1st, 20124:36 pm
MIBF is not a “bro”, even an egocentric idiot like you should know that by now Tommyhachin old son
Sorry for the delay in getting back but I had to go take my every 10 minute piss and take my heart pill. Us old folks have to do stuff like that.
July 1st, 20124:37 pm
Braves already got their pitcher when they signed Sheets. They are going with the young guys from AAA to sure up the bullpen, and thye will wait to expand the rosters later this year to add some bench depth.
Hope you are right about that win tomorrow.
NickB, you are a truly vile person. Hopefully the “old farts” will outlive you.
Venters obviously has some problems. Time in Gwinnett would probably do him a world of good.
It’s much better than letting him “work it out” in Atlanta when it is costing them wins.
I just hate when a player is having problems and the manager’s solution is just keep sending him out there to the detriment of the team.
Jaded Braves Fan
ya know what, I’m as nice as I can be on here, and try to present these ideas in an even manner, but when the same people refuse to even consider them, or look into them or just reject them outright, ya dadburn right i get condescending. I consider their point of view and present evidence in the form of statistical analysis done by really smart people and covering a large sample size. Then I get countered with smart alecky remarks and “well that’s stupid”
pardon me if I get a little sick of it
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
