Agree, however it is a money maker for the league and also good marketing strategy. Years ago, participants looked forward to it to bolster compensation as salaries {as you are aware} were much lower.

I wonder if the Phillies will move Hamels….. I doubt they get enough to make up for the draft picks.
as much as he might help a team, UNLESS he leads them to the WS, he will be an overpay, he isn’t gonna sign an extension and he can’t be offered arb to bring in draft picks , I’d hate to give up a top 5 prospect for a literal rental and lose in the WC game. Whoever picks him up.
