Don’t confuse valid criticism with hate. No one I know hates Uggla as a person or due to anything he did. We just expect a little more for someone being paid over $75K for each and every game.

I submit that Juan Francisco, if given similar amount of ABs would have similar stats as Dan Uggla and be about as good defensively at 2nd base

You people want to love on Uggla, fine, but give me a good 280 singles hitter than can move runners, play solid defense any day.

I see your point, but Hudson showed up to pitch on the final day of the 2010 regular season against the Phillies in a game the Braves needed to win, and pitched well on the final day of the 2011 season, but the bullpen squandered the lead away.

Ralph

a good .280 singles hitter would not have as much value as a guy who hits home runs, Uggla is 9th in 2nd base defense in MLB this year too.

batting avg is pretty much a worthless gauge for offensive value, so is “small ball” it’s a terrible way to score runs.

the proof? the top run scoring teams EVERY YEAR IN MLB HISTORY are in the top 5 in OBP and SLG% . you get on base, you hit for extra bases, you score runs, it’s that simple

I am afraid we don’t have the personnel in the front office – not just on the field – to compete with the Nationals. I think Davey Johnson has a higher baseball IQ than our entire coaching staff and Wren thrown together.

Not happening. The boys at the AJC can go ahead and mark the Bravos down at 41-37 4 1/2 back in the standings.

And as if that’s not bad enough, the Cubs are coming to town to take at least two against our lackluster boys

Mark

For the life of me I can’t understand why anyone defends Uggla and really believes he is deserving of the all-star game.

Brandon Phillips is hitting .288 with 11 HR, 46 rbi and has only struck out 34 times.

Omar Infante is hitting .289 with 7 HR, 27 rbi and he isn;t in a power slot, 35 Ks.

Uggla – .235, 11 HR, 51 rbis usually in the 4 spot, and 90 Ks several of those with runners on base.

Uggla has walked 51 times as opposed to Phillips 16 and Infantes 9. Maybe thats the big deal for some people drawing walks!

Also, maybe the high walks are a result of Uggla taking so many 3rd strike calls hoping for a freakin walk!

This looks like a team with little motivation. Pitching coach hides, manager never gets tossed, players are playing horrible D.
There was a time (#6) when a manager had respect and could send a message. Not this year…this team has lost its way and it’s manager doesn’t know how to right the ship…but he has the cap tipping down cold. Sad to say, no lonnger a believer in this teams direction. Shake it up over the AS break, new manager is needed…NOW

Evidence? Just look at the Nats coaching staff. 6-1 lead, pitching coach has made multiple visits. With a lead!! Our staff, nah…too hot.

getting on base is the most important thing a batter can do, be it by single or by walk, the most preferable way to get on base is to hit a HR, then a triple, then a double, then a single, then a walk… but all are important and all contribute to offensive production.
