At least they are making Gonzalez work, but Uggla’s at bat was awful. They need to start making Gonzalez pay for his struggles.

Uggla definitely needs to make adjustments, but he never does. He swings at every pitch as if it was a damn fastball.

All my predictions have come true from this series.

1. Fredi changes lineup (all three games) – check!
2. Braves lose two of three (they will lose today) – check!
3. Bloggers claim it is still early in the season. – check!

Can I be manager now?

Of course nolie makes a sarcastic joke about Uggla’s struggles. Doesn’t want to look wrong in any way supporting Uggla and then admitting he is really hurting his team missing very hittable pitches.

Simmons needs to teach Danny the way to make a pitcher work.

The problem as I see it is before, when the whole lineup was struggling, pitchers were pitching around Uggla so his power wouldnt beat them. Thats why his OBP is so good. But now that the rest of the lineup is heating up, they are going after Uggla as the weakest link.

The Braves are just awful to watch. With the signing of Sheets, that means Wren is not trading any young pitchers. What is wrong with Bourn??? He can’t wait until season is over, he will not sign with Braves. If the Braves are way out by end of July, they should think about trading Bourn, Hudson, McCann & JJ. This team is just not built to compete for a division title or wild card.

Well, call me an idiot 2 bc I don’t see how anyone can say Dan Uggla is an asset so matter of factly. If Dan Uggla wasn’t playing 2nd base he would just be another player, and the fact that he plays it as bad as anyone else in the majors is what makes his All Star selection kind of a joke.

The A Bomb

Uggla talk is ridiculous.

He’s Fredi’s godson and is treated differently. And he’s the type of player that drives the fan base crazy.

He’ll go 1 for 40 followed by a 23 for 40 with 10 homers. I don’t ever remember a more inconsistent player wearing a Braves uniform. But it’s worthless to debate his value because he’s so loved by Godfather Fredi and Uncle Frank. Plus, he hustles and that makes him look “better.”

He HAS played pretty well at 2B, though.

I would sure like to see an argument why the guy leading in every 2nd base category in the NL except batting avg should not be on the All Star Team because he happens to be slumping now.

If he had slumped for the first 3 weeks of the year and then hit like his first two months for the last 2 months, you’d all be fellating him

Ted

Uggla has been better than expected at 2nd and much, much worse than expected at the bat. He has limited range however and short arms (!) a lot of balls though. He’s no John Kennedy, as Lloyd Bentsen would say. Not worth the 10m-12m a year clearly, when you compare him to any minor leaguer.

This is what I’m talking about. When people bring up Dan Uggla, they never just say..oh what a great player…its always in relation to others at 2nd base. When Chipper was in his prime as The Guy on the team, you just let the stats speak for themselves. It was not always an addendum comparing him to other 3rd basemen.

And I do like some things about Dan Uggla, and would be fine with him as a complementary piece and if he was at another position.
