Teheran won’t be here long anyway (5-6 years at most)
Which is longer than any deal the Braves would hand Greike.
The Braves would offer him 5-6 years, which would be more productive than Teheran for at least 1, maybe 2 years.
Let me just state, I don’t see why the Braves would go after Greinke (unless he’s signing for 12-15 million, then by all means go for it), just being objective here.

Not sure Simmons would get the ROY vote even if he caught up and surpassed Harper’s stats and performance. MLB is in love with Harper and will do all it can to swing the vote that way.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Braves offer 5 years $85 mill with a $10 mill bonus and a 6th year option…… I bet Greinke would take it too.
He grew up a Braves fan
would be closer to his home in Florida
he would be in the playoff hunt probably for years with the Braves young team
He would finally have career stability

nolie, I guess I didn’t make it clear enough. I don’t believe a word of it that Braves would give 20 million to Greinke much less Teheran and others.

If the Braves do plan on offering Greinke a contract this offseason, there is a benefit to trading for him now – won’t have to surrender our 1st round draft pick, as I’m sure the Brewers would provide him with a qualifying offer is they kept him through season’s end.

I could see them possibly going 5/85 tops if they do indeed have the funds, but I think it would take a perfect storm of negotiations to get him here

I agree about Harper. There is no way, unless he completely tanks or gets significantly injured, that he won’t win ROY. Way too much love for him from the media.

I doubt that 10P.he’s only what? 28. I bet they would offer 5 at least
I base my doubts about this on the History of the Atlanta Braves. That is, they have never given out long deals to pitchers. 4 years is a max for them. 3 years is a norm. If there is a 5 year deal, I’d be very surprised. I only see that if it’s a mutual option for a 5th year.

Which would be one reason the Brewers would ask for at least a first round talent in return. And you know, the Braves have that first round pitcher read for them in either Signable or Polished….

If Simmons sets the world on fire, he’ll win it, assuming Punk boy doesn’t light things up…
If punk boy hits .290 and has sound numbers across the board, yeah, he’ll win it easily….
Here’s hoping punk boy comes back to earth. Problem is, Simmons probably will too.
Oh well, we’ll see. I really would rather win some playoff games frankly.

Want to make the AS game worth something? Ban the players on the losing squad for a season
I agree with most about home field, it’s pretty stupid imo. There are players there chosen by the fans, in essence a popularity contest. Having home field advantage is too big to be left up to an exhibition game.

Get the Brewers to throw in a reliever and they can have both.

I’d like to see Chipper at the All-Star game. I hear there are some good seats available down the left-field line. Hopefully he can score some of those, because based on his non-performance in 2012, he does not belong on the field. The way he’s been playing 3rd, he should never be on the field. Dude is going to get decked by a line drive soon….his reflexes are gone.

Simmons might not win ROY, even if he is deserving, because most of his value will likely be in his ability to prevent runs. Hopefully if he’s deserving, there are enough voters that understand position scarcity and understand how to properly evaluate defense (beyond fielding percentage and errors).

If we gave Lowe 15 million dollars a year starting at age 35/36, I’m all in on giving Greinke 17-20 million dollars a year at age 28 and Greinke being an ace. This team desperately needs an ace, in a hurry.

Simmons is showing plenty of worth on the field and with his stick right now… if he keeps it up, the voters may not have to understand advanced defensive metrics to see that he’s a clear-cut ROY candidate.

Seems DOB is leaning towards Liriano while Bowman is pumping Grienke like no tomorrow. Given the money and prospects it would take to get Grienke, and knowing how the Braves tend to operate post-Texiera trade, I’m going with Liriano.

Michael Bourn has been one of the top five players in the NL. Braun is really the only other NL outfielder on the All-Star roster that’s been all that close to Bourn.

Hate all ya want, some of us are not satisfied with 3rd or 4th place. Some of us would like to see October baseball in Atlanta. That’s not where the Braves are headed with the current roster. Chipper, McCann, Uggla, Diaz, Hinske, Francisco, Venters, Wilson = Mediocre baseball. That is, if you go by the standings.

You Braves fans have a special player in that young man Simmons, he has a cannon for an arm and he may overtake Harper for ROY, as a lifelong Nats fan i would take Simmons right now over our shortstop Desmond who is headed to the all-star game that is how much upside that kid has.
