Even though Chipper is old he is still better than Uggla and McCann!

when you are at home down by a run in 9th and you get a leadoff double, the book says to bunt him over to third. how do you send up a guy who is 4 for 26 as a PH and have him swing away ?
also, how do you pitch to Bernadina with the pitcher on deck (even if he is a decent hitter-for a pitcher) ? the MLB telecast was even dumbfounded.
this is an experienced manager ? was he this inept in Fla. ?
the team is not that good to start with that we can afford to have an idiot running it.
today is Strasburg vs Minor so what are our chances ?
is Gio G going Sun ?
last night was our best chance to avoid a sweep.
losing to the Nats is a lot more damaging than to the Yanks.
the home record is pathetic. who wins playoff spots playing like this at home ? noone does !

Missed the game but heard Don and Joe in the 9th on the radio. Still confused about why Hinske didn’t get the bunt sign or why Hudson wasn’t brought in to bunt FF to third….instead we get 2 popups from two quality at-bat’s (not) and it’s game over…

not an impressive finish but then it sounds like the whole game went that way.

THE SAME OLD COMMENTS-BASICALLY, YOU GOT TO TIP YOUR HAT TO THOSE GUYS. WOULDN’T IT BE NICE TO TELL THE TRUTH ONCE–JUST SAY YOU STUNK UP THE FIELD AND GAVE IT AWAY BY PLAYING BAD. HONESTY IS USUALLY THE BEST POLICY. CHANGE FREDDIE G’S LAST NAME TO “FREDDIE WHITEWASH”.

For baseball fans – Had a thought on the Detwiller balk. How loud do you think Prado was asking for time out? Is he that smart to try and induce the pitcher to pause his delivery?

For football fans – I think there are some soccer games being played somewhere. Nascar? The Olympics start soon.

Braves are very in on Zack Greinke..This trade makes sense for all three involved. Braves get what they need. Brewers get what they need. Zach or “Zachie” as (Frediy would say) gets what he wants..$$$ and chance to make play-off?

illibrave..I agree

For those “eternal optimists” thinking the Braves have had a decent month, well, today is the last day and they now stand at 12-12 for June. Would have to win today to finish with a winning record for the month. Odds are it ain’t gonna happen. Not with Freda managing and Minor pitching.

Last year it was the Phillies, this year it’s the Nats, next year it will be, I predict, the Mets. Each year all the division teams are improving themselves, except the Braves. All but the Marlins are moving up, and the Braves are moving the opposite direction.
BTW, wonder why the “why not bunt with Hudson or Ross” question was not asked of FG last night? That would have been the first question out of the sports reporters in any of the other big cities. Wimps!

I do not agree with the person that Uggla cannot play at 2d. base. He is a great second basemna, but he just can’t hit at this point in the game of baseball. I was very thrilled when I heard that he was coming to the Braves. The reason for that was he was playing second sack with Fla. and hitting well. But he became a brave and his hitting went south.(back to Fla. I guess. He is still a good 2d. sacker and can play it as well as anyone around. He just needs to get a good batting coach to tell what he is doing wrong. Of course that will not happen as long as he is with the Braves.

Since I adjusted my expectations for the 2012 Braves (that they are probably not a playoff team), I am not as frustrated by their mediocre play/results. I am hoping we can stay around .500 for the season. If Liberty Cheapia frees up some bucks so we can acquire some pitching and hitting, then I might revise my expectations again.
I hope most fans realize that last night’s loss was not on Delgado, but was the fault of the defense, the offense, and the bullpen (Durbin).

Well if they could just get a good starter,Wren will do something…He does every year, just hope it is not a Farnsworth/Ankiel type deal.

Why is it so hard for the Braves to get a runner from 2nd with no outs home?

Why is it SO HARD for this team to bunt a guy over, THEN let a 1 out pop-up bring him in? You tie the game, you live to see another inning. Senseless, the way this organization has CONTINUALLY chosen to avoid playing station-to-station “small ball” when it’s called on.

Fredi talks about tying the game, being at home, momentum, and such, and yet his and this organization’s WILLFUL disregard for baseball fundamentals, sometimes, stifles any momentum. Yes, Fredi, you tie the game up (again) if you get the guy from 2nd home in the 9th, and you have the home crowd, the momentum, yada yada yada.

No, instead, you go with the Bobby Cox methodology of sitting back and waiting for the big hit. How many times, over the years, have we lost key and close games after leaving RISP with less than two outs? We missed the playoffs by one. single. game, Fredi, just last year.

This guy manages like an individual game doesn’t matter. What WILL teach him the lesson that EVERY game matters, if missing out by a game, doesn’t?

Felix you can’t really blame Durbin,He has been terrific lately, but is not really an 8th inning guy.(best used 6th or 7th.)Where was EOF???

The Braves have been rebuilding while staying competative(very hard to do).Heyward,Freeman,Simmons are all 22-23 yrs old…..Prado ,Mac and Uggla all in there prime.

I have an idea. Since they are playing like little leaguer, let’s treat them like that. When and if they win. Let’s take them to McDonalds for ice cream. Give fat Freddie a cookie and send him home. This team STINKS.

I applaud the Braves for the batting order shakeup. They are not doing nothing; they have to deal with Uggla’s slump, Chipper and McCann’s struggles. I like Andrelton in the two hole.

Still, Fredi all but said that Wren’s wroster is a disaster. That was a good question from DOB. It is increasingly clear that Wren’s offseason inactivity has doomed this season.

Basic baseball … Catch it. The Braves are usually a decent fielding team, last night’s misplays gave the Nats two runs.

Basic baseball … Move the runner. Fail, Hinske has to get Freeman to 3B. If Hinske cannot bunt, use Hudson.

Wren and Gonzalez … Tag team disappointments. Covering for each other.

Hate to say it but Wilsons 2 out error lost the game last night. He would not have been in there if Uggla was a consistent hitter.Uggla strikes out to much and is to streaky.I would have kept Infante and played Prado at 2nd.Uggla has power but the last year and 1/2 he has been a poor hitter.Infante is a better baseball player.Uggla works hard in the offseason and plays very hard and hustles and is a self-made player but he is not a good hitter. That was a bad trade by Frank Wren!!

As for B-Mac’s struggles he looked out of shape to start the season. He looked like all he did in the winter was eat and f***.Brian is a good hitter he has the track record to prove it.I hope he gets it going cause the braves need him.

Excuses & Errors= a big loss.Braves were out hit.Made most errors. We need pitching, pitching.Looks like the company”with their sudden windfall”could send a couple mil. our way.

[...] AJC quotes following Friday’s loss. Andrelton Simmons: “I was trying to back-pick LaRoche at second. I was too aggressive. Just a little immature of me. I’ve got to be better than that.” [...]
