The A Bomb -
They think everyone we have down there is a phenom. Great talent judges we have eh?
June 29th, 20128:55 pm
Delgado has always had command trouble, might always have them. lotsa pitchers stay that way their entire career
Scoring change takes away E5 on Chipper and awards Morse with 3rd inning single. Both runs that inning still unearned
With all of the physical and mental errors by the infield – I have a hard time blaming Delgado for the 4 runs.
The score should be 1-0.
How many extra pitches has he thrown because we couldn’t get an out when we should have?
i really don’t understand Fredi’s choice with the lineup tonight.
Switching everyone around in the batting order and starting Diaz and Wilson on the same night just doesn’t make sense.
We had no chance tonight from the jump.
June 29th, 20128:56 pm
@CTB: “Delgado has the stuff; just needs to learn how to use it”
You might be right. Ans he seems like a nice kid. But right now he looks like he has the stuff to wait tables at an all-inclusive resort in his native Panama.
At what point does Fredi get released? Freeman batting 7th? Simmons 2nd? Come one. How stupid can you be? Chipper clean up? Really? It’s not 1999 any longer. Fredi has proven he can’t keep this team from massive losing streaks. He can’t manage a bullpen and he can’t construct a lineup. Tell us. What can he do well? I know this, it isn’t winning. He took a playoff team and has turned them into garbage. Nats will sweep the Braves with no problems. Again.
This team will never be a playoff team . Just think for the ones who voted for Uggla a all star should of voted for Infante. The hell with this game we will get shutout.Chipper that was an error you must be paying the scorer.Nats play defense show us how .
I hope they have enough courtesy at Turner Field to give away free water to all those sweat hogs in the stands. I know they’ll make some serious bank selling water in the heat, but have some compassion.
Don’t do that Heyward.
Fan since '66
June 29th, 20128:57 pm
It did sound good, Mixxo
Head-first slide into first base?? Hasn’t that been proven futile?? Fail.
scouts don’t rate Delgados stuff as all That great
But @Tomahawk Mafia…I do understand why getting that sweep last night was a must…..as we would have gained a game on DC and, perhaps this series would have a bit more meaning/motivation….whatever. if we lose tonight it’s a two game swing—i got it.
June 29th, 20128:58 pm
Chipper made an error. Don’t blame that one on the kid. Now scoring has gotten political. God help us.
pressing against gNats
Well, at least there’s one thing for sure. We will all know where all the “stupid’ people in the Atlanta area will be tomorrow at about 4:00PM. After this game tonight and with the heat and sun tomorrow afternoon, one would have to be stupid to be sitting out there. So, if anybody wants to take names for a “stupid list”, or make a movie starring “stupid nitwits”, or line up folks for a “smarts” injection they will all be in one spot tomorrow!
We need offense, defense, starting pitching, and relief pitching at the trade deadline. That’s not too much to ask for is it? Haha
June 29th, 20128:59 pm
This idea that every player we draft should be a starter is hilarious. Delgado, Tehran, Minor, etc…. we could go on and on. Only the small market Braves do this. Then again, we’re the East Coast Padres now. Broke and we’re in a division with 4 of the biggest spenders in baseball. Get ready for many years of this. As long as Liberty media owns their little pet, we’re screwed.
When I see Jack Wilson and Matt Diaz in the lineup and Freemanhitting 7th? No interest in watching whatsoever.
Looking good so far tonight….
They took away the E5? How is that *not* an error? Looked like he was haulin’ oats.
Mets R Best
Hello there again Braves fan! The way I figure it the Nats will sweep your hapless Braves and the Mighty Mets, who naturally won again last night, will win their next 3 games for a 4 game sweep of the Dodgers. That will leave my team firmly in second place and put your guys in third, 6 1/2 behind the Nats and 3 games behind the Magnificent and Marvelous New York Metropolitans.
Braves go down on 3 straight groundouts in 4th, have gone down in order in three of four innings
A Bomb- I’m afraid that Delgado will be one of those career just below .500 pitchers who will pitch just well enough to get a quality loss on most occasions.
June 29th, 20129:00 pm
Martinez to pitch 5th for Bravos
June 29th, 20129:01 pm
For the past three years these stupid pesty Nats have been our demons. They must walk into the visitors’ dugout at the Ted and break out into a huge smile.
I guess the only fireworks will be after the game.
5th inning and the amazing Braves have more errors than hits!
I love them!
“tmc”, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw the lineup tonight. Guess this is not a big series in FG’s convoluted thought process!
June 29th, 20129:02 pm
Yup, Delgado out. Knew it. The kid just is NOT ready. NOT. Seems like almost everyone knows this but him and Fredi.
Christian “Amanpour” Martinez hopefully he will bring some good news
Nats gotta figure these Braves are harmless. Wouldn’t harm a flea.
It’s a long season.
It’s ok to lose nearly every game we play against these guys.
June 29th, 20129:03 pm
“IlliniBrave”, ever heard the expression, “we have seen the enemy, and they are us”!
Busch Leaguer is Drinking Jim Fregosi's Liquor tonight
Thanks guys got home late and skipped Dave’s blog.Sorry Dave it won’t happen again.
2 runs were off error. Not hit hard.
The A Bomb
So they sell this BIG 4 deal and makes us believe these guys are studs.
It’s all about payroll. These guys are really not ready.
June 29th, 20129:04 pm
Delgado: 4 IP, 8 H, 4 R (2 ER), 0 BB, 3 K, threw 58 strikes in 90 pitches
June 29th, 2012
No dipstick, they’d have to go 50 and THIRTY SEVEN to get to 90 wins. At 50-27, they’d have 10 more games to go.
And to go 50 and THIRTY SEVEN, they only have to play .575 ball.
What a dumazz! Get the math right before making stupid posts.
Damn, you’re right DS1.
I’m really bad at math. You got me there.
That was stupid.
I addressed this topic in an email to a friend earlier and they didn’t correct me so they deserve partial blame. I’d say it’s 50-50 really.
But that suddenly sounds so much more achievable by comparison.
Still, it’s the Braves. Even with a second wild card they’ll still probably lose on the last day and miss the playoffs again.
Called Kimbrel giving up the run last night though. I know my Braves.
Math? Not so much.
Harper belongs in the grandstands at Daytona next week…..
The classic redneck look!
June 29th, 20129:05 pm
How many different lineups have the Braves had this year? It’s getting ridiculous
Yeah blame Delgado. Some of ya’ll sound as bad as Joe Simpson blaming this poor kid. He wasn’t ready when he came up and now we see why he should’ve stayed in the minors another year. But when you either don’t have the money and/or will not trade certain pieces to get a proven SP, then you force yourself to rush these guys up.
Am I right?
June 29th, 20129:06 pm
Liberty has to pay for those discounted hot dogs some how. They chose to have two AAA starters in the rotation.
June 29th, 20129:07 pm
Listening to Fredo interview on the radio before the game, was asked about where he gathered his info on other teams and players and such, he made the comment that he didn’t listen to or look at hometown reporters(writers), they made him angry sometimes, “stuff they say(write)”.. Wonder who he was referring to?
We get 15 more outs….why am i concerned?
June 29th, 20129:08 pm
If there was any doubt before who has the better team this year, ATL or WASH, there should be none now.
Delgado defenders are only surpassed in their blind loyalty by Diaz defenders.
The latter will break out all of these situational stats. “But Matty just rakes lefthanders, at night, on grass, when the count is 2-1, off of a slider, thrown sidearm, when Uggla is on deck, and Chipper is not playing, and the hot blonde in row 4 is wearing a yellow top, and… yada yada yada”
Rise to the occassion or get moving elsewhere….always excuses.

Even Glavine said they have the Braves number. Shame since they are the team to beat.
June 29th, 20129:10 pm
Anymore ten game home stands on the schedule and they’re gonna have to go about 40-15 by mid-August.
Fredi can’t be talking about DOB, it must be that stringer from the Gwinnett Gazette.
“he made the comment that he didn’t listen to or look at hometown reporters(writers), they made him angry sometimes”
If FG’s feelings get hurt by Atl writers …. again I say, no way Fredi survives in NY/Boston/LA where they actually have harsh critics
No sane person could expect to be a division leading major league baseball team if you start Diaz, Wilson, and Delgado. Fredi “threw” this game when he filled out the lineup card.
June 29th, 20129:11 pm
You cannot win with one September callup in the rotation, let alone TWO. Neither Minor nor Delgado is ready.
Zimmerman! You’re supposed to catch that! Y’all are playing the BRAVES! Rememer?
Phil: When Harper is done watching the races, I hope he comes and joins the Braves. The kid is good and that’s why some people have to find a way insult. I wish he played for the Braves.
Monty — look who we are running out there against these guys in this series. Delgado & Minor? Wasn’t Medlen the guy who the Braves hardly ever lost his starts before he got hurt? And he’s not in the rotation, why?
The Nationals are no better than the Braves.
They’re just not a bunch of p****ies.

Here’s the story on Gronzolers – 15 position players thrown into 8 lineup spots = 15!/(15-8)!8! = 6435 different lineups. And Gronzo has tried half of them.
Baseball is about continuity and persistence. Gronzo is about oil dripping from his ramshackle Harley and cat scratches on his leathers.
Diaz raked lefties in 2009!!!! It’s 2012 – he’s done. It’s obvious.
June 29th, 20129:13 pm
And right after my comment, almost as if to spite me, “Matty” breaks an 0-14 slide with a double.
“doubles on a linedrive to shortstop” is kind like Furcal’s “bunt for a triple” a few years ago
Not to say the D didn’t let Delgado down today but his overall body of work this year is not very consistent. I would bet a lot of money Medlen would have better numbers if he got the opportunity…..again.
June 29th, 2012
Diaz raked lefties in 2009!!!! It’s 2012 – he’s done. It’s obvious.
He is standing on 2nd base ……yup all done
My power goes off, I find a place to watch the game with power and discover that the Braves have played horribly since I have been away. Frustrating and somehow unsurprising.
June 29th, 20129:16 pm
Don’t you just love ABC baseball….
Not able to watch the game.
Normally that would be a good thing but just seeing the scores at the top of the espn mlb page is every bit as depressing.
It doesn’t get any more predictable than that.
All you need to know is Nats at Braves to roughly guess a 4-0 score in the 5th.
Oh yeah, bat Diaz 3rd now….
June 29th, 20129:17 pm
Lol. One hit and not his apologists think Diaz is headed to a batting title….!
why take out Martinez after one inning? Geez.
I must be going now.
June 29th, 20129:18 pm
bourn with some lucky reaches in tonight’s game
not to worry they will not score.
Finally a break…..Make them pay Simba.
It would be awesome if the Braves could at least bring in one run in this situation, but that is about like asking pigs to fly.
June 29th, 20129:19 pm
SeaAtl, Diaz is hitting 290/353/435 against LHP this season.
Delgado struggles again…. Dear Lord, I hope JJ is back to his normal self…. we need him
June 29th, 20129:20 pm
holy ccccrapppp did anyone see that tub o lard leaned back with his gut in the air
I see that Jason Heyward has continued that depressing run of grounders to the right side tonight. His hot streak appears to be finished.
June 29th, 20129:21 pm
Still time for the lefty killers and Wilson to do some damage…. we can still win still win this game
vs Left .290
Home Games .292
He still hits leftys well….
Simmons beginning to fall back to earth with the bat….
Squander another chance…ho hum. Hope we have had a notepad out tonight to take notes from Washington on how to capitalize on another team’s mistakes.
Shocker….the Braves come up short again. Who would have thunk it?
There’s no magic on this team. Period.
June 29th, 20129:22 pm
Simmons plate discipline leaves much to be desired. He chased a pitch outside the zone on a 1-1 pitch with the bases loaded. The kid needs to be more aware of who is in trouble in that situation.
what did i tell yall. so predictable are our braves.
Rough night for the kid Simmons, an error, groundout to leave two stranded in third, and flied out to leave ‘em loaded in fifth
braves making small strides, now they need to try to get a runner to 3rd with less than 2 outs … after they do that they can start trying to score a run, we’ll work on tying the game later (but probably not tonight, too much to do and too little time to do it to try working on tying this game)
C’mon, Braves!! Please for the love of God beat the nationals, just once!
June 29th, 20129:23 pm
Delgado struggles again….
I bet he hasn’t had that poor of defense played behind him for 3 years.
June 29th, 20129:24 pm
“Rough night for the kid Simmons”
he easily gets a free pass, kid is just a rookie in his first year (first month) of major league baseball
Coulda said so myself. Did anyone think he was gonna keep up a .330 batting average? He got “rushed” to the bigs for his glove, not his bat.
He chased a pitch outside the zone on a 1-1 pitch with the bases loaded. The kid needs to be more aware of who is in trouble in that situation.
Indeed. His stance might look like Chippers, but his swing and plate discipline is more like Francoeur.
June 29th, 20129:25 pm
How did Uggla not laugh after saying “get a spark from Jack”?
Bozo ( The Clown )
Uggla quote ” get a spark from Jack Wilson” my gosh, these guys could double as stand up comics
June 29th, 20129:26 pm
I love how most around here re-assess a player’s career potential based on their last at-bat.
What about Rev? BTW,Simmons might make 8 errors just like Rev did, if he keeps it up.
June 29th, 20129:28 pm
“Anybody who isn’t boiling mad”
boiling mad huh? What does that accomplish? Probably just gives you a headache ….. people who get “boiling mad” probably need to step out, take a breather, and probably find something else to do for a half hour
Well look at the bright side guys—at least tonight we won’t have to watch Uggla strike out 4 times.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
