It’s why i think that Freeman will never be much more than slightly above league avg at first. Not unless he cuts down on his K’s, increases his walks and can add 5-19 HR’s per season.
but he is only 22, all of the above things are certainly doable.

Well, the manager the Braves should have hired is in town tonight. Let’s see how his team matches up against fredi’s team.
Yup he would have been a good choice for us. For those newer fans DAVEY used to be our secondbaseman and holds the record for most HRs by a BRAVE 2nd basman
June 29th, 20127:26 pm
I would have much preferred Tito Francona, guy knows his player’s numbers to a T , and has a similar amount of player respect as Bobby had
June 29th, 20127:28 pm
We really don’t need Freddie to be a perennial all star first baseman. Just a darned good one will do……………
Heck, if he can hit 275/340/480, I’d be happy considering his defense. (which I think is better than some give him credit for)
June 29th, 20127:29 pm
Opps FREDI ’s mind went again [not unuseal] he forgot to put MARTIN in lineup.
June 29th, 20127:30 pm
Jon Heyman reporting that the Dodgers are the favorite to land Dempster as they never stopped talking to the Cubs after he went on the DL
Similar systems, us and the Dodgers. They have a lot of arms as well. My guess is knowing the GM, he’d be willing to trade them. They are clearly in a different position than we are.
and we had a boat load of folks that thought Bobby V would have been a good manager for the Braves. How’s that one working out for the Red Sox?
Where’d you go, kid? Too embarrassed to post after that math screw up?
June 29th, 20127:31 pm
Go Braves! Swat some gNats!
June 29th, 20127:32 pm
Stop the OWNAGE!!!!
This would be a good time to get that gNat monkey off our backs!
June 29th, 20127:34 pm
Outta here for game, Lets get a W tonight.
DS1, even funnier is that some people thought Ozzie Guillen would have been a good choice for the Braves.
June 29th, 20127:36 pm
This game may be more winnable than the next couple, but they are facing a lefty, which should give them fits with their weakened line up.
June 29th, 20127:37 pm
It’s 101 degrees for the first pitch here in Atlanta. At 7:35 p.m. Seriously.
June 29th, 20127:38 pm
Indeed it would, Wayne.
OK, I’m out.
Lets at least win one of these.
I know its hot temperature wise, but I don’t ever recall seeing the humidity as low as 20% for a start at the end of June. It definitely could be worse.
It’s a dry heat.
June 29th, 20127:40 pm
Braves organist played “Send in the Clowns” when Harper stepped to plate. That was a clown move, bro. (But well done.)
June 29th, 20127:41 pm
I am sick of Harper being a Braves killer already.
I like it
June 29th, 20127:43 pm
They’re teeing off on poor D.
YEAH!!! That’s the way to start it out!
Nothing good happening here yet.
June 29th, 20127:44 pm
the song, not the hit, btw
come on Delgado – retire the side, get to the bench, and get a cold washcloth around the neck
June 29th, 20127:45 pm
Delgado is struggling with his command. That is a bad thing.
What is that obnoxious noise in the radio broadcast background after some pitches?
June 29th, 20127:46 pm
don’t want Dempster – he is Lowe redux.
Garza is fine, Greinke is better, Hamels is ideal
Nice turn, kid.
June 29th, 20127:47 pm
Harper can play ball – incredible for someone his age
Another Andy Dandy turn of a DP.
That was a swell and necessary double play turned in the Braves favor, but Delgado’s lack of command was troublesome in the first inning.
June 29th, 20127:48 pm
No more in game for me tonight. Later fans.
Fredi is going to over-manage… watch… I bet he gets someone warming up after Delgado gives up one run, takes him out after 2.
looking at the splits – trying to figure out why Wilson is still on an MLB roster
June 29th, 20127:53 pm
They have a heck of a rotation. Detwiler as their #5.
June 29th, 20127:54 pm
What, is Simpson scared to say Braves might make a trade? Medlen belongs in the pen, especially how Venters has been.
June 29th, 20127:55 pm
Be very interesting to see how Heyward reacts to a cold streak. His walk rate is down, so let’s see if he becomes a bit more patient as pitchers really never stopped coming after him….
June 29th, 20127:56 pm
walk rates are usually down when you think you can hit everything thrown up there
June 29th, 20127:58 pm
Morse has his little finger off the end of the bat and has an interlocking grip like a golf grip.
Delgado not fooling anyone tonight. Kind of scary to think considering the Nats have not faced him before, usually takes a couple times through the order to get to a new guy….
June 29th, 20127:59 pm
Damn their pitcher just breezed through our guys while Delgado probably already needs an oxygen mask.
Fan since '66
Randall has great life on the fastball if he can just start locating a little better.
June 29th, 20128:00 pm
lucky call there
June 29th, 20128:01 pm
Delgado is just missing his spots.
June 29th, 20128:02 pm
He appears to have a nice changeup too.Could be a good night
June 29th, 20128:03 pm
I saw Peter Gammons on MLB Tonight say that the Braves had decided NOT to pursue an arm, that JJJ had shown them he was back and that Minor RG and JT would battle it out for the 4th and 5th spot.
He started with the same looking for an impact pitcher that is going and around but then said the Braves brain trust had decided against looking for pitching..
Not really sure how accurate Gammons is these days..
June 29th, 20128:04 pm
Gimme a call, blue!
This isn’t gonna be good.
need another dp already
uh oh…..hap-tipping reference from Glav already!
June 29th, 20128:05 pm
Glav knows the deal.
Geez, all these seeing eye ground balls.
Delgado is making them look like idiots!
Awesome work! His best stuff is showing!
Put it in the Loss column!
Brian – I’ve been reading your ripping Jack Wilson post and I’m wondering why you’re here. GTFOH.
June 29th, 20128:06 pm
If anyone doesn’t think Frank Wren is desperately working to acquire a starting pitcher, your fooling yourself.
GOT to fix that location, kid
June 29th, 20128:07 pm
I like Jack….a lot!
Does anyone have the link for an online audio stream of the game, since for some reason I can’t get the MLB.com feed to work?
June 29th, 20128:08 pm
Too fat to get back and cover your plate Brian?
And a gift from the home plate umpire.
Braves were due there.
Mac is off his game again….geeesh
June 29th, 20128:09 pm
“Peter Gammons on MLB Tonight say that the Braves had decided NOT to pursue an arm”
well things change daily. Easy for them to say right now but if Minor keeps getting shelled between now and the deadline or someone else gets injured, they’ll be saying something completely different. So I’ll take Gammon’s AND the Braves words with just the tiniest grains of salt
They. Are. Working. His. Ass. Off.
They know Delgado can be wild and are exploiting it like crazy.
Jaded Braves Fan
How many times has the pitcher burned us?
June 29th, 20128:10 pm
Only 5 hits the first time through the order…
Well, he made it 1 2/3rds anyway.
I’ve seen the Braves do that so many times, giving up a RBI hit to the pitcher. Have to lead MLB in that stat.
Well done Randall….
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
June 29th, 20128:11 pm
What the [heck] is happening??
That was an odd inning…
Randall is not pitching well but the Nationals haven’t really hit any ball that hard. Mostly singles on the ground.
You won’t see Heyward dive for one unless to his side….he should’ve caught that ball….
take a backseat phil, I ballgames it a long while ago……
Randall is a mental midget. Geez. We got a staff full of sissies.
June 29th, 20128:12 pm
Not sure why Braves weren’t able to get an out when Espinosa was more than 2/3rd of way to 2nd, but it proved costly.
Little League Defense costs us a run!
June 29th, 20128:13 pm
always have to come up with some negative crap to blast Jason with dontcha phil? WYT was it that he did to you anyway?
You know phil, and all you other losers, if one run was gonna beat you, you weren’t gonna win anyway. Relax
June 29th, 2012
If he dives and misses it 3 runs score and the blog is killing him for diving………
June 29th, 20128:14 pm
Looked like TBall.
June 29th, 20128:15 pm
What a surprise!
The PITCHER drove in a run with a single!
June 29th, 20128:17 pm
walk rates are usually down when you think you can hit everything thrown up there
Good point, noles. But when he realizes not all of his swings will result in a positive outcome, will he walk more? Or will the more hits result in pitchers being careful? Maybe the sample of crazy hitting hasn’t been long enough – although a month of plate appearances….
June 29th, 20128:18 pm
Is Detwiler even sweating yet? 25 pitchers through 2 innings.
June 29th, 20128:20 pm
Ass wipes here cant wait for something bad to happen to the Braves. They aren’t intelligent enough to write comments if they’re winning.
“Is Detwiler even sweating yet?”
if he is it’s because it’s 97 degrees outside (probably even hotter on the field) and not because he’s getting worked hard
June 29th, 20128:21 pm
McCann continues to suck with the bat (as he has since last August). Now he’s gone completely brain dead behind the plate, with a crap throw to Jack Wilson ,with a runner all but picked off; then he wastes a throw (too late) to pick off the same runner. The Nats pitcher comes up next, and Randall D. gives him a 2 out RBI base hit (His first hit of the season).
McCann follows with a next inning strike out. McCann is just as lousy as he’s been sine last August.
Seems like 10 days ago, Brian announced that he’d fixed his swing. Obviously, with the help of Dan Uggla.
RISP Braves are a joke. Joke and a Choke Atlanta. And so it goes. Minor League baseball, at Major League price. Yes folks, these are your Atlanta Braves…
