It’s why i think that Freeman will never be much more than slightly above league avg at first. Not unless he cuts down on his K’s, increases his walks and can add 5-19 HR’s per season.
but he is only 22, all of the above things are certainly doable.

Well, the manager the Braves should have hired is in town tonight. Let’s see how his team matches up against fredi’s team.
***************************
Hi all
Yup he would have been a good choice for us. For those newer fans DAVEY used to be our secondbaseman and holds the record for most HRs by a BRAVE 2nd basman
Jon Heyman reporting that the Dodgers are the favorite to land Dempster as they never stopped talking to the Cubs after he went on the DL
Similar systems, us and the Dodgers. They have a lot of arms as well. My guess is knowing the GM, he’d be willing to trade them. They are clearly in a different position than we are.
I know its hot temperature wise, but I don’t ever recall seeing the humidity as low as 20% for a start at the end of June. It definitely could be worse.
Be very interesting to see how Heyward reacts to a cold streak. His walk rate is down, so let’s see if he becomes a bit more patient as pitchers really never stopped coming after him….
Delgado not fooling anyone tonight. Kind of scary to think considering the Nats have not faced him before, usually takes a couple times through the order to get to a new guy….
I saw Peter Gammons on MLB Tonight say that the Braves had decided NOT to pursue an arm, that JJJ had shown them he was back and that Minor RG and JT would battle it out for the 4th and 5th spot.
He started with the same looking for an impact pitcher that is going and around but then said the Braves brain trust had decided against looking for pitching..
Not really sure how accurate Gammons is these days..
“Peter Gammons on MLB Tonight say that the Braves had decided NOT to pursue an arm”
well things change daily. Easy for them to say right now but if Minor keeps getting shelled between now and the deadline or someone else gets injured, they’ll be saying something completely different. So I’ll take Gammon’s AND the Braves words with just the tiniest grains of salt
walk rates are usually down when you think you can hit everything thrown up there
Good point, noles. But when he realizes not all of his swings will result in a positive outcome, will he walk more? Or will the more hits result in pitchers being careful? Maybe the sample of crazy hitting hasn’t been long enough – although a month of plate appearances….
McCann continues to suck with the bat (as he has since last August). Now he’s gone completely brain dead behind the plate, with a crap throw to Jack Wilson ,with a runner all but picked off; then he wastes a throw (too late) to pick off the same runner. The Nats pitcher comes up next, and Randall D. gives him a 2 out RBI base hit (His first hit of the season).
McCann follows with a next inning strike out. McCann is just as lousy as he’s been sine last August.
Seems like 10 days ago, Brian announced that he’d fixed his swing. Obviously, with the help of Dan Uggla.
RISP Braves are a joke. Joke and a Choke Atlanta. And so it goes. Minor League baseball, at Major League price. Yes folks, these are your Atlanta Braves…

I would have much preferred Tito Francona, guy knows his player’s numbers to a T , and has a similar amount of player respect as Bobby had

We really don’t need Freddie to be a perennial all star first baseman. Just a darned good one will do……………
Heck, if he can hit 275/340/480, I’d be happy considering his defense. (which I think is better than some give him credit for)
