No reason to sit either Uggla or Prado unless they are sick or hurt. Guess Fredi doesn’t believe these games are important enough to put his best nine on the field.

A couple of folks said Dempster would not be a 1 year rental. I checked and Baseball Reference has him as being a free agent next year, unless he has some sort of option clause I don’t know about.

It makes sense to sit Uggla, but only if you are replacing him with Prado. If not, leave him in the lineup, Jack Wilson will make Uggla look like a dream.

You know what the winking emoticon means? ‘Cause I’m gonna give her a shot:

It means there’s a decent chance the user is an ass. Y’all truly think your stuff is so smart and clever, and 90% of the time it’s unfunny, hardly readable, space-wasting drivel. Our new board leader (man, how I miss the old ones) is dropping three winks a page. If only I could be so witty…

Here’s a thought: how ’bout you let us read what you’ve got, and decide for ourselves the value. You gloating seems… wrong.

The Twins are believed more willing to trade speedy outfielder Denard Span than his power-hitting outfield mate Josh Willingham.

While the struggling Twins don’t appear actively engaged as a seller yet, they are believed willing to listen on Span in the July trading season because of the presence of emerging center fielder Ben Revere. Center field is a position of concern for a few other teams, so the interest would be substantial in Span. The Nationals and Marlins are among teams to have pursued Span in the past.

The Twins would seek a young starting pitcher in return for Span, and if no one’s willing to offer one they’d likely hold onto him.

While the interest in Willingham would be significant considering his excellent first year in Minnesota and a weak hitting market, a person familiar with the Twins’ thinking said he believes they are reluctant to trade him only a half year after their prescient signing. Willingham has 15 home runs, 49 RBI, a .272 batting averase and .920 OPS.

Span is hitting .277 with three homers and 19 RBI. Even the Yankees could make sense if Brett Gardner isn’t able to return this year (the Yankees hope Gardner can come back in late July). Revere is hitting .323.

Ryan Dempster won’t be back until after the All-Star break. He was originally eligible to come back this past Sunday and, as recently as a couple of days ago, the Cubs thought he’d miss only one start.

m4licious420

June 29th, 2012

Dempster or Garza? Neither one of these guys would help this team… and I mean, REALLY help this team. Yeah, they would offer a little, but Greinke should be the man we go after. Greinke would be something that this club hasn’t had in a while, which is an absolutely dominant ace. Dempster and Garza are not worth the cost, Greinke IS.

One thing to consider is the Nat’s pursuing Span, if they get him, that puts them out of the Bourn hunt in the offseason and may lower the going rate a few mill a year. I would have bet the farm the Nats gave Bourn a 5 year $75 mill offer with a 6th year option for $15 mill. But with Upton and Victorino around, Bourn might have to settle for 4 years $52 mill which might make him worth it
