Venters has become awful….just sad.
First time here, eh “Hmmmm?” Comments mirror the proceedings. Natural for fans to get excited when seeing a glimmer of hope.
How in the heck do you walk Sean Burnett?
Jaded Braves Fan
I thought Medlen had become Fredi’s 8th inning guy.
June 29th, 201210:22 pm
Harper gets a Granny here.
Watch this y’all.
Just unacceptable…these idiots deserve to lose.
If Kimbrel can get 3 outs why can’t he get four?
Just an embarrassment to this team to continue throwing Venters out there like this. Unreal
How in the hell do you walk the pitcher? Seriously? Fredi should just go out there and rip him one. This is just ridiculous.
Come on Venters! I trust you to give up at least two more!
You can do it!!
June 29th, 201210:23 pm
Never said it was, fan….
Why can”t Venters be sent to the minors to correct his problems? They had no problem sending JJ.
Sit down, bro.
Oh yeah, I tend to forget about Medlen.
June 29th, 201210:24 pm
Again, every move Fredi makes blows up. Sure, some of it is baseball and just luck, but come on. After August and Septermber of last year, and then the 9 game losing streak and mis management of our pen (Jays and Yanks series specifically) you have to ask if he’s in touch with his players?
you hold to 4 runs for so many innings then you score the next inning you give it back.
At least Ventbro got out of it. But coming back against Burnett and Clippard with this motley crew of a lineup is going to be difficult.
Good call, Mixxo.
Rip him one? How does that accomplish a thing?
“@MarkZuckerman: And naturally Sean Burnett draws the walk to load the bases for Bryce Harper. Proud moment in Jonny Venters’ career there.”
Then Venters strikes out Harper. This is farcical.
Simmons really plays hard. Fun to watch.
That brings up a point. When we had Maddox, Smoltz, Glavine, Avery…those guys competed hard out there and it was obvious. I’m not talking about their obvious talent but just the competitive part. These guys(starters now)minus Hudson, could take a page from those guys on how to pull the damn hat down and get after people!
Busch Leaguer is Drinking Jim Fregosi's Liquor tonight
June 29th, 201210:25 pm
Whew!!!! The Braves dodged one there.I guess Johnny just wanted to face the Phenom.
Fortunately, it was a Struggling Hitter vs. a Struggling Pitcher and the pitcher won this round.
Fan since '66
It is always time to worry in this game. Anything can happen any time. That’s why we love it!
June 29th, 201210:26 pm
Two nights in a row where a tied game is untied by a solo homerun. That is irritating, but at least it drains some of the drama.
The A Bomb
The pitching staff may not be the worst in baseball — but other than Colorado there’s not another one more mismanaged in the game.
This is just brutal watching these overrated and overvalued guys being thrust into game situations.
Freddi would answer that by saying he just has to work thru the growing pains.
June 29th, 2012
With Minor starting tomorrow,Medlen might have to pitch several innings.
June 29th, 201210:27 pm
Nicely done, Chipper!
Run for the Crip!
Chipper with the meaningless single….
Let’s go BMAC…. we need ya now. Raise that .061 late inning BA
Good start, hopefully this is no mirage. Chipper really needs to score and tie this game.
June 29th, 201210:28 pm
That’s true, Bravefaninok.
Automatic DP combo here.
dang it Mac… let’s go Matty D
Seems like JV has a focus problem. When you have two runners on and fool around with the pitcher, throwing all but one pitch outside the strike zone, then a real HR threat comes up with the bases loaded and you get serious and pitch great. What’s with that?
Looks like McCann needs the off day, not Uggla.
Man he sux.
Brian McCann is such a let down this season. He is awful.
June 29th, 201210:29 pm
Mac striking out is for the best frankly…..
Speaking of going bad.
That wasn’t even competitive.
It’s better than a double play.
When’s the last time this team actually came back in the 9th to win a game? Chipper against the Phils? It’s so long I can’t remember. Heartless. (See Sep of 2011)
McCann’s unreliable these days.
Mixxo is right. If we run for Chipper we would have a man on 2nd on that ball in the dirt
June 29th, 201210:30 pm
McCann refuses to do anything but pull. He’s faced Burnett enough to know what he has and what he’ll do with it.
Yeah, if I’ve always liked McCann, but if the Braves are going to pay someone, I’d prefer that it be Bourn.
June 29th, 201210:31 pm
And swung at ball 4, but instead a 6-4-3 Double Play….nice.
Diaz sucks…swung at ball four.
June 29th, 201210:32 pm
2-1 fastball right down the freakin middle and Diaz takes it.
Now THAT is the Matty Diaz we all know so well!
But Diaz hustles and doesn’t complain. OMG that guy is so terrible.
If you want to lose a game, call 1-800-555-DIAZ!
This team is painful to watch. Such futility and horrible play. Awful, Awful, Awful. Bad at bat after bad at bat. Poor pitching performance after poor pitching performance. Bad managerial decision after bad managerial decision. Most frustrating Braves team since 2006.
Yessir, that ball squirted away plenty for an avg. baserunner’s speed.
Im starting to think they actually like losing to the NATS!
June 29th, 201210:33 pm
3-1 I meant.
Also, with a 3 – 2 count had we poinch run for Chipper we could have sent the runner and we would be hitting with 2 out and a man on 2nd,
I’ve heard of 3-tool players, 4-tool players, even a 5-tool player or two. So how did the Braves end up with so many NO-TOOL players (Diaz, Wilson, Francisco…)
This is over. Let’s just go for Sunday with Huddy on the hill. Tomorrow is a lost cause with Minor.
Bring back Bourn….
Dump fat Mac. I hate to say it.
June 29th, 201210:34 pm
going to be tough scoring against Clippard in the 9th
Diaz is just not a useful major leaguer anymore. Another washed-up ex-Brave we brought back hoping he’d recapture his former glory (a la Glavine, Jordan, Remlinger, etc.).
June 29th, 201210:35 pm
@pheonix: now come on, that is not fair. Matt Diaz is a legit HALF-tool player – he hits lefties like crazy!
GIDP! If we could just load the bases and do nothing in the 9th, we’d have a signature Braves loss. Don’t worry though, it’s just late June.

June 29th, 201210:36 pm
no more late inning come back wins for these boys. no sir bob.
Maybe another ONE run loss while the second best bench player the Braves have is down at Gwinett.
Can’t believe the scorer took away the error from Chipper in the 3rd inning. What is this, Be Kind to the Elderly Day? He has less range than the statues in front of the Ted.
McCann looks as bad as I can ever remember ,too many weak off balance swings and taking pitches right down the middle .Fredi should have rested him against the lefty .Now he will start Ross tomorrow against Strasburg.
It’s the heat that makes us lose….
Nice AB by Diaz there — take the best pitch of the AB on a 3-1 count down the middle, then swing at ball 4 for a DP. It’s time to overhaul the bench and replace Diaz, Wilson, and Francisco.
June 29th, 201210:37 pm
I bet ole Danny boy leads off the ninth. And if he does, I bet he whiffs again.
Well hopefully the Bravos will have better luck next series vs the Cubs
June 29th, 201210:38 pm
Minor’s numbers look pretty good….
JC, Diaz actually was a good major leaguer at one time. Had an OPS of .839 or better three different years for the Braves.
But clearly, that Diaz is no more.
tough scoring against enybody in the ninth.
The biggest tool some of the guys being mentioned have is “league minimum” or close to it. At least I hope thats what it is b/c I’m still dreaming that the guys running the show are trying to win.
June 29th, 201210:39 pm
JHey is a beast in RF
Great play, JHey!
What a throw and tag!!!!!!!!!!!
so-so throw…..GREAT tag!
Wayward really sucks. Nope — he does.
Great hustle by Heyward! Nice job!
Great play Jason and Simmons!!!
June 29th, 201210:40 pm
Potentially huge play by Heyward there if the Braves can do anything in 9th. Another terrific throw by the RF.
J-HEY to ANDY!!!!!
Heyward has racked up the assists lately. Rick Ankiel is an outstanding athlete, but a terrible baseball player, yet he kills Braves pitching.
Best thing that ever happened to Heyward: fans booing their asses off when he loafed on Bryce Harper’s single (that turned into a double). He’s actually been fielding his position ever since.
June 29th, 201210:41 pm
My 2010 man crush on Heyward is returning. Dude flipped the switch.
Ankiel with a very similar slash line as Diaz. Somewhat reassuring to know that other teams have washed-up crappy outfielders on their bench.
