At one point in probably early May, I specifically remember looking at the splits, and the Braves were leading the NL in batting average with RISP. Shows you how far they have fallen there.
I guess if you think the struggles of Nate McLouth, Jordan Schafer, Yunel Escobar, Omar Infante, and Melky Cabrera against lefties is going to cost the Braves this weekend, more power to ya, I guess.
Simmons gets to hit 2nd waay earlier than Rev did…. Heyward, 3rd, Chipper 4, Mac 5…. Unfortunately, McFann gonna like this lineup and that makes me mad!
I don’t mind Simmons hitting 2nd, Heyward hitting 3rd, Chipper hitting cleanup, and all that… but I cannot believe, in a game against the 1st place team in the division, that Fredi is sitting his best hitter.
The Braves are playing for a 533% 40 win on 75 Games…..they has to be hot in the next three month or there’re not making the play off…533 is about 86.5 game win of 162.
DOB pointing out the obvious. Team isn’t clutch. Way too many scoring opportunities gone by the wayside. Hope they read the article and man-up. Nats have clowned us pretty good lately. Looking for signs of a new mental toughness this weekend. Grind those AB’s guys!
Prado and Uggla on the bench on the same day? Can you imagine having to tell ONE of them he’s sitting this one out? Much less both of those guys. They’re going to bug the crap out of him in that dugout.
On what the Braves might do before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline:
“We have the flexibility to make a big deal. If one presents itself and we think it can improve our club, we’re gonna be there trying to finish it. I think we have the talent in our minor league system [and] we have the payroll flexibility to make a deal.”
I think we can get Dempster without having to give up too much. If he’s healthy, he might be our best option. Garza and Greinke would cost too much and Jason Vargas’s of the world are back of the rotation types, imo.
I really just wish uggla could help the team in situations like last night instead of striking out.
Eight inning, tie game….Chipper walks and is balked to second. Uggla just has to move chipper to 3rd in that situation. Give some many opportunities to score from 3rd.

Bryce! Over here! Bryce! Mark Bradley, AJC… Bryce, we’ve heard that Justin Bieber has invited you to attend the Grammys with him next year. True? What do you plan on wearing?
What is it with Fredi and thinking that he should rest 2 of his regulars in the same day. Now if he’d wanted to get Diaz bat in against the lefty, he coulda put Prado at second for a game.
Dang, I told you the Braves had more $$$ to spend than many here believed.
The biggest statement from the blog, tells all you need to know:
(From Frank Wren): “We have the flexibility to make a big deal. If one presents itself and we think it can improve our club, we’re gonna be there trying to finish it. I think we have the talent in our minor league system [and] we have the payroll flexibility to make a deal.”
(From Terry McGuirk): “McGuirk said Thursday that there is no available player who is out of the Braves’ affordability range, if they decided it was a deal that made sense for the team.”
“I think we can get Dempster without having to give up too much. If he’s healthy, he might be our best option. Garza and Greinke would cost too much and Jason Vargas’s of the world are back of the rotation types, imo”
Maybe we can get away with giving them Salcedo. That would not be so bad, Even if Dempster is only a rental.
Prado did look a little wierd on that scoring play last nite when he thought the RF had caught the ball over his head. Looked like he barely could make it home.
Harper mentions Ripkin,Jr and Jeter as guys he looks up to because they’ve played for the same team their whole careers. Leaves out Chipper, the man on a team breathing down your necks.
Whatever, stupid teenager is still popping white heads on his face anyways.
Thanks Fredi for sitting Uggla. It was driving me nuts watching his pathetic attempts at the plate. You can sit him out for the entire Nats series as far as I’m concerned. Hell, for the rest of the season for that matter. Even better—trade his butt. Another Wren trade that went wrong.
DS1, I’d agree with you if both Uggla and Prado were hitting well. Although I wish Prado weren’t sitting against the Nats, I can’t remember the last time he’s had a day off and they are playing in some extreme heat this weekend. Also Wilson hasn’t gotten a start since Simmons was brought up. Need to keep the bench players fresh.
Hey, this is a mega rich corporation that has more $$$$$$$$ than one can imagine. Does not mean they want to spend it on the salaries of a major league ball player.
They could spend the $$$$$$$ on two Pujols type of deals and it is a drop in the bucket, wanting to do it and seeing value in it is another thing.
(And even I don;t think even one of those kind of deals is smatr for this team).
The way it stands now, for what I know a $20 million a yr player is not wise for this team. That kind of cash does not make sense to me anyway, so much $$$$$$$$$.
I would give Uggla to anybody that would take his payroll, don’t have to give up anybody just take his payroll then I would use that money and get a left fielder that can hit and put Prado back on 2B where he belongs. I like Delgado but he will not have a winning record on this team as presently constructed, they simply do not give him the run support to give him confidence to go out and pitch aggressively.
“McGuirk said Thursday that there is no available player who is out of the Braves’ affordability range, if they decided it was a deal that made sense for the team”
Biggest BS line I have heard in a long time. Grienke is not in their range. Neither is Garza or anyone like that. Bargain bin and/or bust.
Best thing to do with a player like Harper is to just ignore him. Pitch him well and don’t give him anything to use to motivate him more to kick your azz. Those kind of guys don’t need much goading to get more motivated to kill the competition.
Do not wake up the sleeping giant (even if he is not sleeping).
It amazes me how no one from AJC has the time to actually clue us all in on why Prado is out of the lineup. You’d think with the blog or the Tweeter or whatever they could get us the info pretty quickly.
Int’resting lineup—it has it’s good point, cough cough…Hope it’s just a day off for Prado and there’s nothing wrong with him—maybe Fredi wanted to get MattE in there but didn’t wanna sit Heyward after just one lousy 0-fer…?

Resting your #3 hitter for an important game who has the highest BA on the team. WOW! I’m hoping for Fredo’s sake he’s sick.

Dempster would not be a rental. We would have him for the 2013 season as well.
My bad ncbravesfan90. Now I would like to go after Dempster.

Thanks for the new Blog, Chief.
Int’resting lineup—it has it’s good point, cough cough…Hope it’s just a day off for Prado and there’s nothing wrong with him—maybe Fredi wanted to get MattE in there but didn’t wanna sit Heyward after just one lousy 0-fer…?

Kind of thinking along the same lines as Ef, here. I wonder if Prado might be banged up a little.
Doesn’t make sense to rest him and Uggs on the same day, Hillbilly. Hope Martin is healthy.
