Hello everyone! Have today off, and going to a fund raiser dinner tonight. I was looking all over for info, and on the trade rumors. Greinke isn’t even linked to the Braves.
1.Carlos Quentin
2. Joe Saunders
3. Garza
4. Dempster
5. Houston Street. These were linked to the Braves on trade rumors.
Greinke might be too much money?

It’s certainly possible that they could have kept Grissom. But they likely couldn’t have kept him and Larry Walker, and Cliff Floyd turning terrible in 95 wouldn’t have helped them any. And while it’s easy to point out that they lost Ken Hill, the 1995 version wasn’t going to help them as much.

Jerry,Andrelton Simmons’ Fangraph’s WAR is 1.3 in 22 game games compares favorably to Bryce Harper’s WAR of 1.5 in 53 games. Do we officially have a Rookie of the Year race brewing in the NL for the best hitter?

Hi Jerry. Can we Braves fans expect a big deadline addition given the state of the pitching staff and the offense? Which players do you see trading for?
Jerry Crasnick (1:25 PM)

Julio, I don’t think the Braves have made a firm decision what they want to do yet. If they can develop a little more consistency with the kids in the rotation, maybe they’ll target a bat. If McCann gets rolling and Chipper can stay healthy and productive, maybe they lean more toward pitching. Frank Wren seems to be looking at a moving target at the moment.

Simmons needs to be at a spot where he can drive in runs!! He has clearly shown he is capable of hitting with RISP. Chipper & Freeman could be flip-flopped at 4 & 6 I wouldn’t mind David Ross taking over catching duties, or give Gattis or Bethancourt a shot!! McCann clearly STILL can’t see, does anyone else notice how he still squints at the pitcher every time he’s up to bat? The only thing Uggla is good for is walks. He can’t hit with RISP, he only HRs when it DOESNT matter. solo shots, when the braves are either getting blown out or are blowing someone out. Same with McCann all his HRs are solo shots, with the exception of a lucky Grand slam. Trade for a real 2B, or stick Prado back there & bring back Constanza or bring up Ernesto Mejia!! Give em a shot! He’s tearing up AAA, & his original position was LF. Have no CLUE why this idiot management has moved him to 1B when we’ve got a solid 1Bmen already. Clean house in management!! Here’s the probably with that thinking, if he’s hot for 8 or so games at a time but cold (I mean freezing cold) for 19 or so at a time where’s the benefit? So he produces for 30 percent of the year? The Braves would only be interested in trading for Greinke if they could sign him to a new long-term contract, writes MLB.com’s Mark Bowman. The Braves could, as rumored, use some of the money budgeted for their 2013 payroll to accommodate adding Greinke or another pitcher. As Bowman points out, the Braves will have almost $36MM (Chipper Jones, Derek Lowe and Michael Bourn’s contract) coming off the books this winter, though the club will need some of those funds to re-sign Bourn or spend on another outfielder.
Besides Greinke, Bowman lists Matt Garza, Ryan Dempster and Edinson Volquez as “potential targets” for Atlanta.
