DOWN ON THE FARM
PELICANS feast on HILLCATS 5-1.
CHRIS MASTERS hasn’t improved any in his three starts since being demoted by the BRAVES. But as a LH’er they’ll give him plenty of rope before cutting him loose.
LHSP CHRIS MASTERS [L 0-3, 5.73 ERA] 6.0 IP, 8 H, 1 HR, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO.
RHRP RYNE HARPER [0.96 ERA] 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 SO. RYNE’s immaculate ERA gets dented in his fifth appearance for the ‘CATS.
RHRP JUAN JAIME [3.30 ERA] 2.0 IP, 1 H, zeros, 1 BB, 2 SO.
DH ED SALCEDO [.260 BA] 1-3, 1 RBI
1B CHRIS GARCIA [.308 BA] 2-3.
Lead-off MYC JONES [.262 BA] 1-4, 2 SO.
SS NICK AHMED [.269 BA] 1-4, 1 SO.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
Why does Fredi seem so aware of Uggla’s slump which has “only” lasted roughly 3 weeks or so, but he doesn’t seem as aware of…other…people’s…
I don’t know what difference it would make, but just…wondering…
June 27th, 201210:12 pm
Giants have shut out the Dodgers 3 games in a row, 8-0, 3-0, 3-0. Dodgers hurtin’ without Kemp…
John Wayne said “never apologize…and never correct your blog typos, it makes you look weak”
June 27th, 201210:13 pm
Look at this catcher score from 1st on a double! Poor guy must be exhausted…
June 27th, 2012
It’s amazin’ how good UGGLA looks with SIMMONS to his right.
“…….Nolie and I talked last year about how much better of a 2nd baseman AGon made Uggla. The difference between Simmons and Uggla vs Pastornicky and Uggla is far greater than the difference between Simmons and Pastornicky. SImmons just makes Uggla better like AGON did……”
June 27th, 201210:14 pm
I mis-typed the score of one of those dodger games, but on John Wayne’s advice, delivered via his manservent nolie, I am not going to correct it.
June 27th, 201210:15 pm
Uggla’s his “godson”. Spent the most time with him of any other player on the roster. He knows him best.
June 27th, 201210:16 pm
Those are the only two smilies i know how to make. What site teaches that blushing etc.
June 27th, 201210:17 pm
Salcedo and Ahmed not tearing it up. Wouldn’t cry if one of them was included in a trade….
oops in the middle of two colons, rich. No spaces in between.
The A Bomb
Actually tomorrow would be the PERFECT day to give Uggla the day off. Bauer may throw hard, but he throws a bunch of different pitches with movement and that would tie Uggla up in knots.
to make the blush, use the colon, the word oops, and another colon…
June 27th, 201210:18 pm
Actually Bauer and Strasburg within a 3-day period. Wow.
June 27th, 201210:19 pm
again today, nice to see Chipper coming around
McCann is there reading the blog in the background. Wonder if he read my nicknames for him?
June 27th, 201210:20 pm
FYI, Derek Lowe has managed just one win over his last seven starts with a 7.41 ERA over that stretch.
You’ve GOTTA be kidding…you better be kidding…
June 27th, 201210:22 pm
Talk about “due for a regression.” Lowe was bound to crash. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a disparity between a pitcher’s ERA and his peripheral stats than he had for about the first 6 weeks of the season.
I s’pose…I guess I was just using Uggla as an example, but it’s just int’resting or whatever how certain guys’ slumps get more attention…
Was McCann really shown reading the blog?
June 27th, 201210:23 pm
Hi Mac. Don’t worry, CTB and JNick really love you loads. They just have a hard time expressing their true feelings.
June 27th, 201210:25 pm
they need to get in touch with their feminine side…..
June 27th, 201210:28 pm
June 27th, 2012
Time to go vote for the ASG. I’m using the email addresses of the jerks in my spam folder. Figure they’re fair game.
Awesome idea BRAVA!!!
nah, what they need to find is their adult side. I know I love to (sarcastically) dish on Mac, but not nearly to the levels these guys do….
June 27th, 201210:32 pm
that too, but every guy should be able to say I Love You Man
June 27th, 201210:36 pm
I still love ya, BMac…
June 27th, 201210:38 pm
Mac fo’ life.
‘teen ‘teen too, of course.
GREENVILLE DRIVE make roadkill of the ROMANS tonight 6-1. Rookies are a no-hit, a collective 0-9 with 2 BB and 3 SO.
Lead-off 3B KYLE KUBITZA [.254 BA] 2-3, 1 BB, 1 CS , 1 E [14, throwing].
DH BRANDON DRURY [.197 BA] 2-3, 1 RBI . BRANDON is about the crack the mendoza-line at the plate batting .250 in June, and raising his average roughly 25 points this month. He’s had a rough spring before June.
1B ‘BillyBECK BECKWITH [.297 BA] 1-4, 2 SO.
CF WIL SKINNER [.262 BA] 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B , 1 SO.
C RYAN QUERY [.169 BA] 1-3, 1 Passed Ball .
RHSP JARRETT MILLER [L 4-2, 4.13 ERA] 4.0 IP, 9 H, 2 R/ER, 2 BB, 5 SO.
LHRP RONAN ‘Ferdie the fight doctor’ PACHECO [0.00 ERA] 2.0 IP, 1 H, zeros, 2 SO.
LHRP FABIAN WILLIAMSON [4.50 ERA] 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 HR, 1 R/ER 0 BB, 3 SO. Former 2006 MARINERS pick. Most recently at MIDLAND – TEXAS League.
RHRP IAN MARSHALL [4.20 ERA} 1.0 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO. Former University of RICHMOND hurler struggling.
June 27th, 201210:39 pm
At the current rate Uggla will have almost 300 at bats this year WITHOUT putting the ball in play!!!Sos and BBs…why is he hitting in the middle of the order???
I love you nolie!
And the FSU baseball team, and most of all, Dan Uggla and Pastornicky.
June 27th, 201210:40 pm
well at least Fabian can sing them to sleep after he loses the game for them
why in the world would you combine walks and Ks?????
June 27th, 201210:41 pm
MUCH grass ya’ll. Here goes nothin’
You know, I really like O’Flaherty… wonder if he’d take a 2/3 yr deal to stay that a bit cheaper than his arb rate
I think it has to be all lowercase.
June 27th, 201210:42 pm
June 27th, 201210:44 pm
c’mon rich, the link i posted showed you exactly what to do…ya big dummy
common letters rich
June 27th, 201210:46 pm
TOBF, where you go to school?
June 27th, 201210:48 pm
Hanson pitched well, Jason’s still hot, the old man is still hitting ‘em out and the inning ending double play in the eight was spectacular.
Kimbrel—so much fun to watch. Totally dominant right now.
Yeah, you too…
I think CTB was lying—he hasn’t come back, anyway…
June 27th, 201210:50 pm
June 27th, 201210:51 pm
went to Shiloh Hills this past year, but will either homeschool or do “early college” this fall
It wasn’t ECPI that’s for sure.
Uggla…..if you’re peering over Mac’s shoulder give him a hug for me–I know it’s tough, thank you in advance Dan.
June 27th, 201210:52 pm
think he was lying? Dude, I know he was lying
June 27th, 201210:53 pm
Anyway, was aiming to go up a half an hour ago—time gets away so quickly at this time of night or something…
June 27th, 201210:54 pm
Has anybody noticed that Dan Uggla’s numbers in the past 19 games (7 hits in 59 ABs) are almost identically atrocious as the numbers all batters have against Kimbrel in his past 16 games (3 hits in 54 ABs)? Kimbrel is so dominant that he’s making every batter look like Dan Uggla out there–sickening stuff.
June 27th, 201210:55 pm
that’s in Kennesaw, right? Just had not seen them called common letters instead of lower case in a long while
facepalm: you probably don’t know where that is, but it’s a “christian” private school here in cobb county
June 27th, 201210:56 pm
Yh, that’s Kennesaw…. I’ve always called them common letters, guess it’s just stuck with me since my elementart school years
June 27th, 201210:57 pm
nothing better in a course of a baseball schedule when…………
the Braves win
the Phillies lose
Yunel Escobar fails
Life is good
June 27th, 201210:59 pm
“Suh, Honey. I got this gaareat idea. You’ll jus’ love it. Are you ready? Tell me, you’re ready.
Okay. Remember when I played in Peoria? Well, they were always lookin’ for sum’n to get fans to come out…”
“..and, your ol’ man said, I wadn’t front office material.”
June 27th, 201211:01 pm
Phillies still wish they had the REAL Chad these days in Durbin as opposed to Qualls?
June 27th, 201211:02 pm
I wonder if there’s any correlation between Simmons receiving Mac’s throws down at second on steal attempts, and those thrown to Pastornicky. When Pastornicky was here, Mac was atrocious throwing the ball, but he looks so much smoother now and Simmons is applying quick tags also.
June 27th, 201211:03 pm
LOL Escobar with A-Gon-like batting average.
June 27th, 201211:04 pm
well…….. Gonzo was pretty smooth, what about the throws tailing towards right field from B Mac?
Mechanics better me thinks.
postgame quotes are up:
June 27th, 201211:05 pm
don’t know. Mac has spells when he throws ok, and others when his mechanics go a little awry. not sure what it would matter who the receiver is, unless perhaps it gives him more confidence that it get handled even if not perfect
June 27th, 201211:06 pm
thank you Carroll
June 27th, 201211:07 pm
@Jerry…..Simmons positions his body like he owns the bag……Pastornicky’s body language appeared as though he was ‘visiting’ the bag.
June 27th, 201211:08 pm
YANKEES best G-Men 3-2. Bummer man. Dang, it’s im-bare-rea-sing to loose to STANKIES on ANY level. With nine hits and three doubles, and only three runs allowed………rats!
LHSP YOHAN FLANDE [3.84 ERA] 5.1 IP, 7 H, 1 HR, 2 R/ER, 2 BB, 6 SO.
Pin-the-tail on RHRP BUDDY CARLYLE [L 3-2, 2.36 ERA] 1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB, 3 SO.
RHRP CORY GEARRIN [1.31 ERA] 1.0 IP, no-hits, 1 BB, 3 SO.
Lead-off LF JOSE CONSTANZA [.286 BA] 1-5, 1 R.
CF LUIS DURANGO [.284 BA] 2-5, 1 RBI , 1 Outfield Assist [3B].
2B TYLER PASTORNICKY [.248 BA] 1-4, 1 BB, 1 SO.
RF FELIX PIE [.291 BA] 1-4.
3B RUBEN GOTAY [.203 BA] 2-3, 1 2B , 1 RBI , 1 BB. RUBEN smashes through the mendoza-line tonight.
1B CHRIS MARRERO [.242 BA] 1-1-4, 1 2B , 1 SO.
C JC BOSCAN [.192 BA] 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B . JC’s threatening to break above the mendoza-line himself.
I think it’s all mechanics with those throws. I don’t think the SS out there makes a difference on where the throw goes. All they got to do is catch the ball and hold the tag right in front of the bag. If Mac throws one of those perfect beams to 2nd, even I could make the tag.
not sure what that would have to do with Mac’s throws though Capt??
June 27th, 201211:10 pm
Youk with 3 knocks tonight. Going to fit in perfectly with the Southside Chicago crowd
June 27th, 2012
“…..@Jerry…..Simmons positions his body like he owns the bag……Pastornicky’s body language appeared as though he was ‘visiting’ the bag……”
Chuckle. Sad but true.
June 27th, 201211:11 pm
I’ll put up MISSISSIPPI and the rookies manana. NYTOL
nite rich, thanx
June 27th, 201211:12 pm
Ruben Gotay is like gum on the bottom of your tennis shoes. Can’t get rid of it.
if he hits, they got a steal
June 27th, 201211:13 pm
final gamer is up
June 27th, 201211:14 pm
didn’t powder my nose as much tonight, nolie…..wink
June 27th, 201211:16 pm
hope they bring back Lugo for the double play combination down in Gwinnett
June 27th, 2012
“……nothing better in a course of a baseball schedule when…………
Life is good……”
Fall down funny.Yucks aplenty!
Yeah, every BRAVES fan wishes YUNEL all the breaks…..
Arms, legs, fingers, toes, whatever.
June 27th, 201211:18 pm
McFann, they were interviewing Uggla and McCann was in the background at his locker getting on his phone. He was scrolling something on it and so I thought it’d be funny if he was checking the blog. He was probably checking missed calls and looked like he was texting.
… or was he blogging here under secret identity?
I can buy that Capt. When Mac throws it, Simmons seems to be all over the bag waiting for the throw. Pastornicky would arrive late to the bag and maybe that would cause Mac to be erratic. At least, that is the way it seems to me.
June 27th, 201211:19 pm
FW on a roll to-night! GOTAY…..hilarious! Now really i gotta’ turn into a pumpkin even though….aw, hell. Good-night. Oh, my eldest grandson made first team AA district, region and state.
June 27th, 201211:20 pm
walks and Ks don’t drive in a lot of runs…isn’t that what you are supposed to do in the middle of the ordert????the point being Uggla doesn’t make enough contact to bat 3-6..Freddi G can read stats,,,Uggla is 3 for last 29 with RISP with 18 Ks…pretty crappy
June 27th, 201211:21 pm
Kimbrel pitches in 28th game tonight compared to his 40th last season YTD. Very important. If he stays on a schedule similar to how he’s pitched so far, he could be a difference maker in September. Hopefully the games will matter in the fall. A fresh Kimbrel could make this club extremely dangerous in October as well as a healthy Chipper.
June 27th, 201211:22 pm
I again was annoyed with Hanson in the post game interview. Sorry, I just do not like that guy at all. He seems like a snob. Solid middle rotation guy and glad to have him pitch for us though.
Be good Rich brave.
June 27th, 201211:23 pm
Nolie-”This is the majors though, even the worst are pretty good and capable of some great individual plays”
Consistency is the hobgoblin of simple minds.
June 27th, 201211:24 pm
Uggla is approaching his futility of last year(first half).
June 27th, 201211:25 pm
I still say that for what Chicago gave up to get Youkilis and cash, I would have taken a chance on him here. And if he didn’t pan out, no big deal.
Hanson is better than solid, I know. Can’t complain too much when you look at his numbers he’s piled up since being a big leaguer. I guess I just expected a true ace type out of the gate.
June 27th, 201211:26 pm
CTB, really what is your MO here? Annoyed at Hanson? Please Who gives a rats azz how he comes across on TV as long as delivers throwing the rock? The guy has been as consistent as anyone outside of Bourn and Prado.
You kill me dude. At times I think would enjoy pounding a beer with you and other times like to feed your teeth in. Quit being so judgemental on personalities that you know nothing about.
June 27th, 201211:31 pm
Atlrf44: Ever heard of a slump? Well, all hitters go through them. Uggla was pretty darn good for the first 2 months or so. From April 19 to June 5, he hit .299/.409/.545/.954/.378 (avg/obpslg/ops/babip) Since June 5, he’s hitting .119/.316/.186/.502/.176
June 27th, 201211:32 pm
“You kill me dude”
Nah Frankie, I’d just give you a hug and a smack.
June 27th, 201211:35 pm
I have to admit who cares about what the Nats do right now. I like being playing Alydar right now to Afffirmed(yeah I know he came in second all 3 times). Still I like being in 2nd. Who wants to be in 1st in June? Tired of this team going through the motions in September. Best case scenario would be being 3 games out the last 2 weeks in the season(okay maybe 2). Finish on a serious roll and build on it. I scoreboard watch the Cardinals, Giants, Dback, Marlins and now Dodgers b4 the Nats.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
