I didn’t either until a minute ago. But then again I have no idea who Bethenny Frankel is, or why I should, and I’m almost certain I’ve never seen Saved by the Bell. The things I don’t know….. O man
Okay, so for all of you saying Mac should hit here or Mac should hit there – DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT THE LINEUP AS IT WAS LAST NIGHT WAS COMPRISED OF HITTING BEASTS??? Well, except for Uggla anyway.
No, I’m the geek. Right after posting that I realized the movie showed Marty watching the news, “Cubs top Miami in WS” and immediately thought “the WS is not in June and I know that movie didn’t change the baseball season.” Hence my retraction a moment ago.
I feel like a geek for pointing this out but that is not true it’s a hoax someone photo shopped June 27th into the picture the real date in the movie is October 21, 2015.

I can beat this, for useless trivia.
In 18th century English furniture-making, to plane the edge of a board until it was straight, flat, and square to the board’s face was to “try” it. Thus, a board that was straight, flat, and square in all respects, and ready for use in building furniture, was said to be “tried and true”.
Efrim – Thanks for the trade update. I’m all for Greinke. The dude can pitch, and he would bolster the staff for a long time. Think the Braves should also sign Bourn, and try to get Quentin if they can, or Josh Willingham. Both fit budget.
The dude can pitch, and he would bolster the staff for a long time. Think the Braves should also sign Bourn, and try to get Quentin if they can, or Josh Willingham. Both fit budget.
And then get Verlander maybe even work a deal out to get Pujols to play 3rd and while were at it we might as well sign Cole Hamels.
We have no idea what the brewers would want for greinke and we have no idea what the braves would give up.
I would guess that the brewers will try hard to get Teheran and Delgado and the braves will do all they can to keep them. Minor will likely Bethesda main trade piece. Medlen also has high value currently. Cunningham and one of the A pitchers. Those 4 may get it done.
I think the braves, if they get greinke, will still try to sign Bourn long term with the salary cleared by moving McCann in the offseason.
I’m going to view any trade that involves 3 out of 4 top 100 prospects leaving a team as a prospect-depleting trade, and nobody will be able to convince me otherwise.
If you want to argue semantics that depletion means the exhaustion of rather than the decreasing of then by all means, have at it.
I just don’t want to hear it when Wren ships Teheran, Vizcaino, Ahmed, and Bethancourt off to Milwaukee for Greinke and Dillard, then is forced to sign a 60 year old Jamie Moyer to a 3 year, $30mil deal because he has no pitchers in the system ready to go in 2014.
I would trade Cunningham, his stats this you look awfully lucky as everything else looks the same but his BABIP, which means he’s just having more balls drop for hits, guy I know watches him play and said he wasn’t impressed.
The ONLY way the Braves will acquire Greinke is if he agrees to an extension. They will ask for a 72 hr window to negotiate and if he declines, the Braves will walk away.
What if Heyward had told Fruti he didn’t want to hit 2nd and wanted to bat 3rd or 4th, then what would Fruti have done?
i would ask this guy to actually read the complete story instead of making comments based on some other comments but then i would be talking to a guy who came up with super-smart nickname Fruti and i don’t want to spoil my already not-so-good mood this glum day.
better to just blame everything on Fredi and wallow in perceived superior baseball intellect of one’s self
As long as the Braves don’t give up too much to trade for Greinke. He would be the pitcher the Braves have been looking for! All, talk later tonight, and keep hope alive…..Peace my friends, and “Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
Well I don’t know the time line for Saved by the Bell but I’m guessing I was out handling some tried and true lumber, building something for someone, somewhere. Mans gotta make a living.

And why does the NL AS team captain get to select who hits in the Homerun Derby?
I read a report that Kemp said that Harper won’t be there, but he will.
Sounds crazy to me.
The ONLY way the Braves will acquire Greinke is if he agrees to an extension. They will ask for a 72 hr window to negotiate and if he declines, the Braves will walk away.
Of course…. it would be a waste otherwise. All that talent for just 2 months. I wouldn’t like it.
Take the deal. Most of the guys aren’t going to be starting long term for the Braves anyways.
Teheran will one day, maybe even next year (unless he gets hurt), Delgado already is starting, expect him to be here awhile, and Medlen is important in the pen right now. Minor’s expendable cuz we’ve got another one right behind him in Gilmartin.
Which makes me ask a serious question: Assuming Teheran isn’t called up this year to finish the season on the big-league club, would the Braves wait until June of ‘13 to bring him up to get the extra year of control?
The Braves had Roy Oswalt sitting at home wanting to be signed by the Braves. They would not make him an offer. Why? Because their ownership wants to nickle and dime this club. They were just awarded 950 million dollars in a lawsuit but you think they will spend any of it to improve this team? I doubt it. I think one of the reasons is that they are all sitting in Denver and are more Rockies fans than Braves fans and only care about this team making a few bucks for them than whether they actually win or not. Every Braves fan should boycott buying anything from QVC (which is owned by Liberty Media) until they invest in this team or sell it to someone who is interested in making it a consistent winner again.
This is why I prefer to spend most of my Braves talk time anymore with my FB page. The debate there is much more intelligent and coherent, and we tend not to beat dead horses into a pulp. We have honest, sometimes heated, debates over there, but in the end, we all want what’s best for our team.
On DOB’s Twitter:

Shows what DOB must think of a lot of the stuff that goes on here. And I can’t say I blame him.

Outspoken former MLB pitcher debuts as exclusive columnist
WND
John Rocker, the Major League Baseball pitcher whose politically incorrect comments to a reporter were remembered long after he retired from baseball, debuts today as an exclusive weekly columnist with WND.
Boscan is not in front of Bethancourt (and neither is Gattis as they want him on LF) Bethancourt’ lack of offensive production is what’s in front of him. If he hits in 2013 in the minor’s, Mac may be expendable, but if h doesn’t, Mac is very likely a Brave til 2018.
Outside of his eye thing, I felt FREEMAN was well on his way as a 3rd hole guy. I have thought all along that Heyward is a natural 7 hole – which he has been recently. Give Freeman some more time and Chip will be retired after THIS season.
Anybody who believes Braves would pay Greinke 20+million is certifiably nuts.
Agreed. Not sure why people think Braves would commit 20-25 percent of their annual payroll to one starting pitcher, but I can’t see it. And I think they’d be making a serious mistake if they did.
The Braves not only have a hole in the 3 spot but have holes in the bullpen
, on the bench and some days in the lineup when Fredi elects to let some of his top 8 position players rest. A trade for a player that is in the lineup every 5th day isn’t going to get it done. Moving Chipper to the bench, where he spends many of his days already, Prado to thrid and finding a solid LF, plus a quality arm for the bullpen would fill more holes, and be cheaper and easier than trying to land Grienke or Garza.
bravesgrl4life, well then get yo ass out of here and don’t come back! Seriously, if you think you’re more sane, smarter and know what it’s all about than any of is fools I think I can speak for most here and say get to steppin and you won’t be missed.
NickB, not true. I look at the teams and where guys are and, indeed, Boscan is in front of Bethancourt.
See, Boscan is at AAA. Bethancourt is at AA. Gattis is at AA, too, but is hurt and penciled in for LF, so that’s arguable.
We all know that after McCann is traded Ross is going to be the starter, probably for many years to come, so… Bethancourt is as expendable as anyone in the organization.
Chipper is the best guy to bat in the 3 hole. That’s why he’s done it for 17 or 18 years. Switch hitter and whatnot. Maybe it’s importance would light a fire under his old butt and make him play with a little swelling or ache.
Boscan may be in AAA but he isn’t “in front of” Bethancourt as far as becoming the starter one day goes. Boscan is a 33 year old career minor leaguer. he will not be filling the catching void if Mac leaves. Nor will Ross, he gets exposed as a starter and his numbers don’t hold up in the long term.
If Bethancourt either isn’t ready or never develops, the team’s options at starting catcher for 2014 are Mac or, Soto or any of the other catcher free agents that year.
the team’s options at starting catcher for 2014 are Mac or, Soto or any of the other catcher free agents that year.
Man, I think I might have to move the fandom to curling, if the Braves were to swap Brian McCann for Geovany Soto. Such a thing would generate some of that chunky industrial-grade.
The Braves FB page is a lot of Tomahawkin speaking gibberish… the worst part was, after I joined, it was set to email me notifications by default. Every time Tomahawkin would post, bam, I’d have to see it in my inbox.
I think I’d rather go after Greinke than to give up what it’s going to take to get Garza. Greinke is a better pitcher than Garza, imo. And the cost in prospects should be less.

Greinke doesn’t strike me as someone who could hold up to playoff pressure very well.

Heyward is a natural 5 or 6 hole hitter.

I have 2 problems with using the Twitter and Facebook pages….

“Not sure why people think Braves would commit 20-25 percent of their annual payroll to one starting pitcher,”
Or why they would pay 25% or 30% of the teams salary to Chipper Jones and Derek Lowe, but crap happens.

Chipper is the best guy to bat in the 3 hole. That’s why he’s done it for 17 or 18 years. Switch hitter and whatnot. Maybe it’s importance would light a fire under his old butt and make him play with a little swelling or ache.

I think Yunel Escobar blocking Elvis Andrus or Brian McCann blocking Salty is a bit different than JC Boscan blocking Christian Bethancourt.
However, he’s so far away with the bat that you wouldn’t have to twist my arm too hard to trade him.

Gattis is in AAA
Boscan may be in AAA but he isn’t “in front of” Bethancourt as far as becoming the starter one day goes. Boscan is a 33 year old career minor leaguer. he will not be filling the catching void if Mac leaves. Nor will Ross, he gets exposed as a starter and his numbers don’t hold up in the long term.
If Bethancourt either isn’t ready or never develops, the team’s options at starting catcher for 2014 are Mac or, Soto or any of the other catcher free agents that year.

I was wrong Gattis IS in AA.
but he isn’t being projected as future catcher due to his lousy glove. Hence the move to LF and only the once a week catching start
