Hope the Braves don’t melt away on Saturday when it’s supposedly a 106 degrees and probably hotter on the field.
Fredi G. should give Uggla his off day then…. hope the games a 1-0, 2-1 affair so that the players don’t have to stand out there too long

Pffff, 106? It’s 106 here at 8 in the morning.
The best part about our heat waves in Austin is that it drops my natural gas bill down to just about zero. Our hot water heaters are both in the attic above our garage, and the water gets plenty hot without needing fire to warm it.
Kinda sucks when you go to get a drink and the cold water is hot coming out of the tap, but I can live with it.

Jimmy – I’d wait until next year, but I;d still re-sign him. As for what is thrown around the blog? I’d wear protecxtive clothing and a bullet proof vest if we were just discussing the weather, much less how much Mac might or might not cost.

Yeah but there’s much less humidity. I was helping build a house in Mexico and it was somewhere around 115, but it didn’t feel nearly as bad as 99 in Georgia because of the drier air.

And there’s still another year before Kimbrell goes to arb. Plenty of time still to worry about locking him up. Wren has more than enough on his plate for this winter without having to concern himself with Mac of Kimbrel..

I don’t think players in their first and second year can compare themselves to free agents or other players in arguing their case. So that will tend to keep the awards low, meaning Kimbrel could ask for $9M or so in his first year. He’d lose. He’ll get a hefty raise from his current salary though. But that’s if he and the team even get to arbitration.

We need to just trade for Greinke, first working a long term deal with him or at least have one in place, then let Bourn walk in the offseason. We could sign a multitude of cheaper CF options in the offseason or look at a trade to acquire one.

Kimbrel gave up two runs, two hits and two walks in consecutive appearances May 2 and May 4. Behold his numbers since then: Three hits (.055 OA) and two walks allowed with 28 strikeouts in 17 scoreless innings over his past 17 games, including an .048 average with no walks and 24 strikeouts in 13 innings over his past 13 appearances.

If JJ bounces back, I’m not so certain you just let him walk next year though. I’d have to either offer arb or trade.. but no way do you let him walk for nothing. Same goes for Bourn, you have to offer arb.

Rivera had an ERA of 1.38 in 05. Smoltz had an ERA of 1.12 in 03, Wicky was never vaguely close and EOF’s ERA last year was 0.98..

In Alabama a guy selling merchandise under a tent on the side of 231 Hi-way had a dozen flat-screens packaged for sale@fleemarketpricing….selling out rapidly, as FS had just hit the shores and were a novelty item……sadly, or seemingly so, he packed up and left after getting $199.95 each for them. Much to the dismay of the buyers, these TV’s were actually stove doors (blk glass) and labelled correctly.
