Illinibrave – they’re at best average. Medlen is at best average too. Pen, starting, whatever you do with the guy, it’s not ordinarily gonna be a whole lot to sneeze at.

Nothing against him, and I love the guy. He’s just an average dough boy pitcher who gets the most out of what he has, which ain’t much.

As long as we have Minor and Delgado bringing up the rear we will struggle to be above .500 Just can’t really count on them giving you much. Delgado pitched like he had a plane to catch last night, don’t know why Ross didn’t try to slow him up a bit. And Minor has little mound presence, almost like he doesn’t even want to throw it. And then there’s that little matter of not hitting with RISP.

I agree it’s tough to contend when you have two holes in the rotation (possibly three if you include Jurrjens). Even Hanson and Hudson have been a little inconsistent. I just don’t know if the Braves have enough pitching this year, even in a very weak NL. Medlen would compete better than Minor, but he’s not the answer to our problems.

If Jurrjens pitches like his old self and Wren can acquire a solid vet like Dempster, I can still see the Braves being a factor. But any less than that and it’s just not going to happen in 2012.

This team being so young anyways has to have starters that you can’t count on. Not guys like Minor who you KNOW will blow up at any time. THAT is where all your inconsistancy comes from.

Sometimes you need to think outside the box. What would be wrong with Minor and Medlen set up to split each game. Have each set up to pitch 4 innings and adjust if Minor is having a good day or bad day. Bring up Tehran and let him do the same thing with Delgado. All 4 of these pitchers have trouble getting past 4 innings. Tell them this in advance so they can bear down the 4 innings they are in there. At a minimum you find out which of these pitchers is going to get better and which isnt, and you give them all experience. Then you have Hudson, Hanson, and JJ to pitch the other 3 games with the rest of our pen ready to go.

Guys, let’s give Fredi a little bit of a break. Keeping Minor out there in the 5th only ensures his demotion to AAA ball. Had he pulled him and brought Medlen in for relief it would just give Wren a reason to give Minor another start to see if he can turn it around. Instead of getting pulled and only giving up 4 runs, Minor gives up 7 and I’m positive he won’t be starting in the Majors again this season. He’s done.

@Nolie — The pent up anger from September is not forgotten, and sometimes its deserved.

This is a mediocre team. Some good things to like others not so. It has been a frustratingly streaky year and no one with any real stroke seems to care to do anything about it.

Our GM is hamstrung due to $$$$$$$$$$$ and Fredi is doing the best he can with what he has to work with.

Key injuries, disappointing seasons from key people and wonder why there is no Braves LUV fest when they lose????????

Not to mention one of their supposedly top young pitchers of the future (Minor) has the mental MLB toughness of a wet noodle and cannot do the job

Negativity ——— A fair part of it is deserved. I think the nay sayers have been fair with this team look what happeneed in September.

Typical of everyone in the braves organization, from the G.M, to the manager, and now the announcers. Bottomline is this franchise is a joke, from the owners, to the G.M. to the manager, to the players, especially Larry LameASS Jones. Maybe the braves can pickup Youk, he would be a nice #4 hitter in braves lineup, since he is hitting .229. Add to that the braves have (3) AAA pitchers in their starting rotation, and you can see what complete idiots Wren&Fred Flintstone are. These clowns still think the braves have the pitching to get to the playoffs. The only playoffs this pitching staff will get to is in Gwinnett. Fredi is the one who has to be the fall guy for this mess. But Wren vaunted inactivity has left this team grievously flawed. Cody Ross was the kind of bat who would have helped this team more than another year of Diaz.
