Minor needs to keep pitching and take his lumps, but they have got to work on keeping him focused on thrwing strikes, when his command goes, he falls apart and throws too many breaking pitches

njbraves, we had that chance when we brought Medlen back up from the Minors, but they just put him back into the pen.

One good game doesn’t change a season. Minor still has a Minor head on his shoulders. It’s almost like when he goes on a walking binge, he tees a few up just to see how far they can hit ‘em

Mike, they can hit them a long way when you don’t have enough talent to get them out.

Disaffected

“Disaffected. I’d say that unless B-Mac really tapers off the rest of the season, they’ll pick up his option at the end of the year. That’ll give them a good idea of where he’s’ at and what to do with him.”

I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he’s traded this offseason. Even coming off what will be a down year (barring a huge second half), he’ll still have great value. If Wren determines that he’s in decline, then it makes sense to try to strike while the iron’s still hot.

But a lot of this depends on how Bethancourt progresses. Right now he doesn’t look big-league ready, but that could change in the next couple of months. Wren has never been shy about fast-tracking kids to the majors.

I can be patient with Delgado who has shown good and bad to date, but Minor I just cannot have faith in him anymore.

There is something about the mental makeup and how he cannot handle adversity that tells me he is a bust. You can see it and I doubt he gets better.

How much more can the Braves put up with from this BUMB.

Can’t go on through the season expecting to be threats with these soft young pitchers. Wren has some serious decisions to make if he is planning on having the team and Chipper head into the playoffs.

Mike Minor is useless. Dude always gives up walks, and it seems he always gives up homeruns after those walks. That kills a team every time. I don’t care how good the Braves offense can be at times, they will lose every time a pathetic ass pitcher like Minor does that crap. Sick of watching the same old routine with these pitchers. They were rumored to be going after Youkilis? I didn’t know he could pitch. They better get some starting pitching, and soon, otherwise this season will go down the tubes very quickly.

This team is not good enough to make the playoffs, not this year.

Too young, too inexperiences and the wicky wacky bullpen and bench and Chipper’s decline says that this team is a yr and maybe two from being good enough to get there.

No way this team wins more than 85 games, not this yr. Toom many things going wrong and young guys slow in developing.

Minor should be given this year and one more year to develop. Just like all SMART teams give their young starters….. Thank god you people don’t make these kinds of decisions, the league would have gotten Glavine and Smoltz on the cheap

I still say Minor would be a good fit out of the bullpen because he can get strikeouts. His HR rate is alarming, but much of that damage has come in very hitter-friendly parks. I still don’t think he’s as bad as the numbers look, but he clearly should have been moved out of the rotation a while ago. Medlen is more suited for a starting role, so he and Minor should flip flop.

As for today, Fredi did not put together a competitive enough lineup to win.

It has to be hard on the players themselves knowing they cannot go through sustained slumps with such fragile pitching. The Braves can’t be taken serious when they have this pitching staff. Their best pitcher all year, even though he was at .500 when he went on the DL, is done for the year. They have Hudson and Hanson who are pitching pretty good lately, but with Delgado, Minor, and Jurrgens, you don’t know from one inning to the next what you are getting.

The Braves have to sent Minor to the G-Braves to work on consistent location. He is very good when he locates, but he too often loses focus and pitches in the middle of the plate…and he does not have good enough stuff to do that. You simply have to move him down and out Medlin in the rotation. The Braves simply cannot afford both Minor and Degado’s inconsistency in the starting rotationl. Medlen, I believe, will be a lot more consistent than either. Send Minor down, move Medlin to the rotation, and bring up another relief pitcher…..if you want to contend this year in the East. Maybe Minor can get better down on the farm.

Nick B — Glavine and Smoltz were begining to figure it out in their second seasons.

In 89, Glavine was 14-8 and had a decent ERA on what was still a bad Braves team. Smoltz made his first ASG in 89 his first full yr in MLB.

These guys did not melt down in adversity the same way that Minor does and Jo Jo did.

Smoltz did have that gross slump in the first half of 91, but he went to Dr Lewwellyn and got straingtened out.

You could see hope there.

I see the same hope in Delgado. I don’t see that in Minor. I believe in Delgado but not Minor.

Mike Minor is such a mental midget. He’s a total head case. He does not have the make-up to pitch in the major leagues. That said, he has the perfect manager in Fredi G. (Fredi is the most clueless manager in baseball. If he has enough warning, he can fill out a line-up card. That’s about it.) The Braves can’t hit…can’t drive in runs. Nobody is a clutch performer. Not one. Zero. None.
The Braves young pitchers really suck…Delgado, Minor, and the like.
Wren figured that the Braves were strong in pitching. As usual Wren equals wrong.
McCann is having the his worst year in his career. Venters is a total waste of time. The bench is a disaster.
Great job by Fanki Wren. Add Fredi G.’s managerial skills, and the Braves are toast.
