This particular cut happens to be an old torch burner in the Patsy Cline vein, but The Time Jumpers can perform any genre of music; and do so every Monday night in Nashville.
For thirteen years The Station Inn was home to this aggregate of A-list musicians. Now, they’ve moved across town to a slightly larger venue to accommodate the demand for tickets, which are still priced at a 1970’s-like $10.
RHRP RYNE HARPER [H 2, 0.00 ERA] 1.0 IP, 2 H, zeros, 0 BB, 2 SO. Enjoying his promo from ROME so far. This was his fifth outing as a ‘CAT.
LHRP COLE McCURRY [SV 1, 0.00 ERA] 1.0 IP, 2 H, zeros, 0 BB, 0 SO. Another LH reliefer brought in from the O’s org most recently in NORFOLK, and assigned to A+.
The pitching was excellent all the way through the game. GRAHAM and the HILLCATS deserved this win. They earned it. Solid offense and defense.
MEJIA’s on a pace to bat .310+, 40 2B, 30 HR, and 100+ RBI. Also, 140 SO vs. 40 BB in 550+ AB’s.
He’s played in 74 games with 276 AB, an OBP of .371, and an OPS of .922 currently.
BRAVES can’t wait too much longer with this guy. His shelf-life is short at 26. By next year this time, what you see is pretty much what you get as far as a ML’er is concerned.
Unfortunately, I don’t see MEJIA being FF’s caddy ala HINSKI. I do see ERIC gone in 2013, but I can’t say MEJIA’s his replacement. His offense and defense are just too good to waste on the pine as a bench-player. And he obviously isn’t capable of being moved to LF, or the org. surely would have done it already.
What a defense this would be with Headley at 3B, Simmons at SS, and Prado/Bourn/Heyward in the OF…
My buddy Mike knows his stuff, but I’m gonna have to go against him here. Neither Prado nor Headley really profile as a corner bat, and while you could live with one of them being so (because of Uggla), I think having two in the lineup would really hurt your offensive lineup depth. McCann’s plus positional offense doesn’t really cover up the second corner, and you really want his offense to be the piece that pushes the team across the line from good to very good, anyway.
If Braves can’t sign anyone for LF, then I would wait on Todd Cunningham. Then I would just sign Bourn.
Me too. Signing Bourn is a piece of cake. Just do it Wren.

Moyer has a minor league deal with the Jays. When will he stop?
The Cubs officially called up Anthony Rizzo, the team announced, and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports tweets that they now view Bryan LaHair as an outfielder. The Cubs, however, would be willing to move LaHair for “the right offer,” according to Morosi (Twitter link).
“I made an inexcusable mistake. Several years ago, I had surgery for a condition that was private and unrelated to baseball. I am mortified by my carelessness and I apologize to everyone who loves this game as I do. I will serve my suspension, continue to work hard and hope that I am given an opportunity to help a Club win later this season.”
Well, I didn’t find this blog until the winter of 2007-08 and MEJIA was down in the lower minors at the time not doing a whole lot at the plate or with the glove. The guy’s not a quick study, but he’s steady. BRAVES cut him loose in the winter of 2009. He caught on with the ROYALS in 2010. He started out with the ROYALS in A+ and did well, but once promo’d to AA he fizzled [.268 BA - .978%]. ROYALS cut him loose. BRAVES resigned him and sent him to MISSISSIPPI where he blossomed both at the plate [.297 BA] and with the glove [.989%]. The BRAVES moved him up to AAA, and this season he’s exploded [currently .318 BA - .995 %]

Here’s one of the most intriguing possibilities for the trade market:40 Ks,14 walks, 2.41 ERA in his last 37.1 innings. http://t.co/c1xiNBwi
Could be. Those numbers that Buster cited were his starts since returning from his bullpen demotion. He hasn’t given up more than 4 hits in a start since then. He definitely figured something out during his bullpen sentence.

Interesting. Wouldn’t cost nearly as much as Garza, that’s for sure.
He seems to have turned it around in June, but I don’t know if I really want him. Doesn’t seem all that impressive. He does have a 3.60 ERA and a .201 opponent’s batting avg. since May 5th. Maybe he had a bad April, but his stats from last year are miserable too. Don’t want him.
Todd Zolecki @ToddZolecki
True. Last win w/ 5 or fewer runs … May 26. RT @Igglesn10: phils have not won a game when scoring less than 6 runs in a month
Surprise, Surprise – the Braves have not had a Pitcher injured all this week. Of course, it is only Tuesday – and of course, we did not play yesterday.
I’m pretty sure that any pitching available at a price the Braves would actually consider is going to have a wart or two. Guess it depends on how much ugly you can stand.
Liriano still has a full month before the deadline to either sustain or revert. He’s definitely a July 31st trade piece…not one of those late June/early July sneak attacks.
You know, Gio can still walk the park on occasion, too, but the move from AL to NL seems to mitigate that a little. ‘Course, Gonzalez isn’t giving up dingers after the walks like he did in the AL, either, so that might be clouding my perception.
Just saying that Liriano’s wildness might not hurt him as much in the NL. Maybe.
We also have to remember that just about every guy that would of been available is now on the disabled list with some sort of injury – Dempster, McCarthy, Saunders, Marcum. I’d still be really surprised to see Greinke traded. Garza and Liriano. Can’t really think of too many others, but it’s still real early, I suppose.
ncscoots – “Compensated for by a high Moonpie Index.”
Had to bring up McCann again, didn’t you?
Man the flooding is terrible in the Live Oak / White Springs area. I haven’t heard anything on the News about, but read about it in local newspapers online.
We got any folks in that area?
MikeinFl – You are on the east coast right? Daytona area?
Bat is in the Destin/FWB area.
Package deal, I’m down with that, by golly. Then, sign Bourn to a horrifically overpriced extension, and we can all go huntin’ and fishin’ this offseason.
Because all of their pitchers would be so impeccably uninjured that the team would be accused of using HGH and forfeit all of the team wins that were started by a starter.
Jimmy, I’m in Jax Beach. Lots of localized flooding. So far it’s not too bad; not as bad as the inland areas you mentioned, but it is gonna rain for another day or three, so could get worse. I’m on (relatively) high ground so should be okay…
Prado has turned himself into a pretty good LFer, but after seeing him at third while Chipper was DLed, he’s an excellent 3B. He needs to be the starting third baseman next year. He might not have the power one expects from that position, but his BA and OBP make up for it.
I’m going to guess Fredo goes with Heyward batting 5th tonight ahead of Chipper an Freeman. Just a hunch. Not saying I agree with it, but I got a feeling……
Actually, I get a little vibe on such a package. Maybe put together a trade package that’s a little overpay for Willingham alone, but reasonable when getting the add of two-plus months of Liriano. I can see something like that, sure.
Has anyone here ever seen a Prius do the speed limit? I’ve heard that a friend of a friend once saw one doing 40mph, but much like sasquatch, I will not believe it until I’ve seen it with me own eyes.
If any of you own a Prius… well, whatever, just stay in the right lane.
@Murph…yes indeed the Prius seems to ride more comfortably in the ‘fast lane,’ and, of course @55mph……however, I parked next to one at a Braves game and the driver was sitting in the trunk area with a guest or two drinking quite heavily and rather fast……so it’s not all bad.
OnlyBraves – I think that if Francisco gets the opportunity to play on a regular basis, that he’ll be a productive hitter with a decent glove and good arm. Probably not for the Braves, though, unless they aren’t able to get a LFer and run Martin out there next year and leave Francisco at third, which I really don’t think will be the case.
You have to ask yourself why Wren even got him and has he done – or been allowed to even try – to fill the role from which he was acquired. Did they get him as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement? I seriously doubt it. They got him because he has power and they were afraid that Chipper might well miss much of the season and that they had no real option in left other than Martin.
But they haven’t used him like that at all except for a three week period from April 14-22 and from May 16-28. When allowed to play regularly, he went 17-54 (.308), with 5 HR and 13 RBI.
I just fail to see why people give players such crap when they haven’t even been given a chance and are noit utilized to their bext advantage.
You want to talk about how he hasn’t been a good pinch hitter? Fine. But at least call him by name and don’t use idiotic terms like Fatsucko. It not omnly demeans him, but makes you look juvenile, too.
My whole rant is that the Dude is catching lots of grief here and I get pissed about the ridiculous name calling.
Has anyone here ever seen a Prius do the speed limit? I’ve heard that a friend of a friend once saw one doing 40mph, but much like sasquatch, I will not believe it until I’ve seen it with me own eyes.
My friend has one, they’ve gotten it to 65 before….
I own a gas drinking 5.3 L V8 8-12 MPG Silverado… After $500 per month on gas I would consider trading for a Prius. I could use all the extra $$$ to prove my manliness!!
I could by a boat or a motorcycle or some four wheelers… of course I’d need the truck to pull them?? oh well nevermind!!
well of course Texans hate Priuses, cain’t sell any oil/gas that way…
Given that I have no affiliation with the oil/gas industry, my hatred of Prius owners comes from a deeper, darker place than my wallet.
I’d like to see a demolition derby featuring nothing but Prius, Smart Cars, and Fiats… and open gas cans… give the audience a bunch of roman candles… and make sure the fire department is at least 10-15 miles away.
Scoots is all that–Italian slip-ons…[read: Black only] and the ritualistic Brittish Sterling Cologne. With, of all things….neatly designed/clad in ironed jeans
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if teams are trying to get Bethancourt from us. Not to say he’s a great prospect, but he’s still incredibly young(20 years old) and has lots of upside.
Indeed. His future is elsewhere. I don’t get why we traded for him if we hardly use him. Could’ve gotten him on waivers instead. He’s rotting on that bench, and his bad bat only gets worse….
nolie – We moved to St. Pete in 1985 – right before Hurrricane Elena sat off the GUlf Coast for several days, never really coming on land. It looked a lot like it does from pictures I saw yesterday from the same locations. Not good. The highest point in Pinellas County is about 32 feet above sea level.
I think that FRancisco was acquired as an insurance policy against Chipper missing much time. Unfortunately, it appears he needs regular playing time to be effective. Maybe he could be used in a trade, but not sure what his value would be with how he hasn’t been effectively used.

I was wondering while watching MLB Tonight last night, why his name hasn’t been mentioned much as a trade candidate.
Might be that half-dozen or so mushroom clouds he served up to start the season.

Could be. Those numbers that Buster cited were his starts since returning from his bullpen demotion. He hasn’t given up more than 4 hits in a start since then. He definitely figured something out during his bullpen sentence.

Here’s one of the most intriguing possibilities for the trade market:40 Ks,14 walks, 2.41 ERA in his last 37.1 innings. http://t.co/c1xiNBwi

Because all of their pitchers would be so impeccably uninjured that the team would be accused of using HGH and forfeit all of the team wins that were started by a starter.

Prado has turned himself into a pretty good LFer, but after seeing him at third while Chipper was DLed, he’s an excellent 3B. He needs to be the starting third baseman next year. He might not have the power one expects from that position, but his BA and OBP make up for it.

I think that FRancisco was acquired as an insurance policy against Chipper missing much time. Unfortunately, it appears he needs regular playing time to be effective. Maybe he could be used in a trade, but not sure what his value would be with how he hasn’t been effectively used.
