you mean in his 68 at bats?
guy has played 131 games twice, the rest of the time he has not even come close to that. at least Chippr is old…
N8, not picking on your comment – moreso just discussing the thought process by some that Teheran should be used in a trade while Mike Minor sucks it up in the big leagues. Tough for me to swallow since i hated the Minor pick and now one of the best arms in the org. in the last 5-7 years could be traded because Mike Minor couldn’t even pitch to an ERA in the 5’s……
June 25th, 201210:28 pm
I’m not ready to give up on this season…
Jason with some different looking numbers in this recent hot streak.
June 25th, 201210:30 pm
I took names of all the Jason haters. I don’t wanna see them sukking up to him now…..
June 25th, 201210:32 pm
I think we have to be patient as they mature from throwers to pitchers.
Another 18 months will see BEACHY back to full power and hopefully as good or better than before.
HANSON should have matured by then
MINOR too and DELGADO
VIZCAINO should be at full strength.
MEDLEN should be about as good as he’ll get.
TEHERAN hopefully will at least be on the 25-man
and maybe JR GRAHAM.
I don’t know about REDMOND, SPRUILL, HALE, GILMARTIN, LAMM, NORTHCRAFT, SIMS or WOOD.
Looks like’ Wild-thang’ PEREZ isn’t gonna’ make it.
I took names of all the Jason haters.
June 25th, 201210:33 pm
If we stick to the youth pitcher program
We don’t have a choice.
Which kinda sucks, but we have to do this. Ride these young guys until they get it together.
June 25th, 201210:34 pm
When was Vizcaino’s surgery? Anyone know?
I still caint get over Woods mechanics. How in God’s name did they allow that as a youngun coming up?
Pretty long list
June 25th, 201210:35 pm
late March I think
Hey, HEYWARD is a bum! We-e-e’ve got ‘Big Jim’ GATTIS! heh! How’s EVAN’s injury doing BTW? Anybody heard anything?
June 25th, 201210:36 pm
I thought FEBRUARY this year.
June 25th, 201210:37 pm
not Feb, March
June 25th, 201210:38 pm
EVAN GATTIS…you know?
June 25th, 201210:39 pm
whats he done lately???
June 25th, 201210:40 pm
VIZ – MARCH 20, 2012
June 25th, 201210:41 pm
lay out on the DL the bum
longest 7 days off in history
June 25th, 201210:42 pm
So Brad Lidge just got released.
I wouldn’t mind taking a flier on him and over him a minor league deal and if he makes it to the main roster, have it be an incentive laden deal perhaps.
Thanks guys… so he’ll probably be tossing in spring training, looking to return April/May?
If so, gonna be interesting having him and Beachy, later in the year, coming on… seems like we need to make sure we carry a couple of pitchers with options into the season.
June 25th, 201210:43 pm
heck we got half a dozen guys who could give Brad’s 9.8ERA a run….
June 25th, 201210:44 pm
12-13 to get back, 18 to get all the way back they say
June 25th, 201210:45 pm
I think right now, I’d just like to see us try to acquire Saunders if he’s available just cause the asking price may be low allowing us to look at other areas. — Arkansas Transplant
I was told two weeks ago, and said it here, that Braves weren’t interested in Saunders and had a lot of other options they’d pursue before him.
We just got rid of Livan and now you bring up Lidge? LOL
June 25th, 201210:47 pm
When was Vizcaino’s surgery? Anyone know? — MikeInFla
During spring training. In March. So that’s when you can expect him back, sometime around next March, maybe ready for the start of the season but not guaranteed.
June 25th, 201210:48 pm
To be fair, I suggested Lidge to a minor league deal, not major league deal. I get your sentiment though lol.
rich – what is the story with Felix Marte???
June 25th, 201210:50 pm
if Lidge makes it through waivers then it will not cost the Braves much to take a flier on him. If he could be an 8th inning righty then Medlen can move to the rotation
whatever it is, I hope Felix’s is better than Andy’s was
June 25th, 201210:51 pm
GATTIS expected back in the Bandits line-up in early July. Injury – strained tendons in left wrist
teheran will not be traded. He has work to do but you just don’t trade a young pitcher with a ceiling of an ace.
why would we want a guy with an ERA of 10 in any position of the pen?
June 25th, 201210:53 pm
Well, Lidge is technically a free agent, he was released.
anybody here take a flier on Francisco Liriano??
June 25th, 201210:54 pm
Wouldn’t hurt giving Lidge a shot in the minors to regain his effectiveness and prove he is healthy. If he can do that, bring him up and see what he can do. Wouldn’t cost a ton.
June 25th, 201210:55 pm
nolie – I have not seen any of the scouting reports on Lidge. If he has his velocity or anything hope of getting back to form – taking a flier while another team pays the majority of his salary is low risk
not my kinda pitcher. way too many walks
of course if the scouting reports are Lidge is done – leave him alone
June 25th, 201210:56 pm
nah the minors would be ok but i would not give lidge an mlb contract
way too many walks….me
referring to Liriano
June 25th, 201210:57 pm
sounds like Liriano is a head case and a waste of talent. Just didn’t know what a change of scenery could do for him
The A Bomb
June 25th, 201210:58 pm
Some of these names…..YEESH.
Actually — I could see the Braves sweeping an opponent in a playoff series. Then getting swept in the next round. Would be fitting.
Lidge on a minor league contract would be ideal. Wonder if his ego would allow that
That’s what I’m saying, a minor league deal wouldn’t hurt. It’d have the potential to be a low risk/high reward deal. If he can be fixed in minors, then bringing him up wouldn’t hurt.
Say he is signed and is fixed. He could be the bullpen arm, put Medlen in rotation and trade Minor for another starter and/or bat. That would be relatively the cheaper way to go.
June 25th, 201210:59 pm
2008 DSL signee, still 21. Skipped over DANVILLE this spring, and went to ROME. Recently moved down from ROME after a .231 BA start to the season. Doing well in his first four games in DANVILLE [.471 BA] Homer,, triple, double in 17 AB’s
Would be fitting…abomb
sorry bit i find that attitude stupid and repulsive
June 25th, 201211:00 pm
I still like Nunez of the NYY for LF when chipper is out and Martin is playing 3B with him getting a shot at taking the LF job next year if we could pry him away from the Yankees
Lidge said when the Nats cut him that he was 100% healthy… didn’t make any excuses. It is tempting to wonder if he just needs time to regain his command. Still strikes out a batter an inning.
Really don’t see it, of course.
Lidge and Liriano, lol. Sign’em and stick’em down at Rome or Lynchburg, let them show the younguns what a major league fastball looks like.
June 25th, 201211:01 pm
Nunez is an 87 career OPS+, I’m passing that one up
Seeing as Braves were in on Soler, you think they’ll be in on Yasel Puig who is about to be a free agent before July 2nd’s new deadline for the new CBA?
FELIX MARTE ya’ll
June 25th, 201211:02 pm
June 25th, 201211:03 pm
You don’t have to apologize.
Repulsive is a little whack, but OK.
Fitting in the sense of how streaky this team has been.
But OK nolie. You love Willingham who we could have had 3 times already and who is becoming a frequent flier with all the teams he’s been on.
He’s not a winner despite those “excellent” stats.
June 25th, 201211:05 pm
Josh Willingham with career .844 OPS avg. 27 HR in LF with Prado at 3rd is absolute comedy and will not help this team at all but Headley with career OPS .741 avg. 12 HR is worth giving up “a lot” as the Padres demand. Wish I had a speck of brain to understand the deep thinking behind this. On 2nd thought, I take that wish back.
June 25th, 201211:06 pm
ok, i thought you meant that they would deserve that, rather than that it would mimic the rest of the season
June 25th, 201211:07 pm
I think they might “try” on Puig, but I don’t think they’d go after him hard. Soler was the one that they more likely wanted.
June 25th, 201211:08 pm
I don’t love him, I think he is a good fit at a very good price that they can afford if they want to, but pray tell , how is he not a “winner”?
June 25th, 201211:09 pm
Sorry for my earlier comment. Didn’t realize Headley is as good impact player as were JD Drew and Tex when braves traded for them…
Gonna be hard falling asleep with my head heavier with this knowledge. good night folks.
We still haven’t gotten a starter? Wren needs to hurry! We are running out of time.other teams will scoop up the good ones. Tired of being second fiddle.
June 25th, 201211:10 pm
you learn something new every day cricket
June 25th, 201211:11 pm
are the Braves high on Felix Marte – little old isn’t he for that level?
high wind and rain…again
June 25th, 201211:14 pm
Get in the tub, nolie! Or get in the middle of your home, I heard thats the safest place. Don’t try and be a hero.
June 25th, 201211:16 pm
agree cricket – I don’t get it either
June 25th, 201211:18 pm
Prado’s value is in the infield. Solid defense and a bat that is good in the IF but mediocre in the OF. The left fielder needs to have power or speed. A contact hitter should be on the infield at a position other than 1B
June 25th, 201211:20 pm
you have not been paying attention to stats the last few years if you think an 820+ OPS is mediocre even in the of
June 25th, 201211:23 pm
Wish I had a speck of brain to understand the deep thinking behind this.
Cricket, can’t help with that, lol. Can tell you to look at Headley’s age, his likely salary the next two years (which ain’t cheap but not expensive either), his splits outside of that black hole that he plays in, his defense, and the fact that he has the second highest WAR of any 3B in baseball this year, behind only David Wright.
I’m not pushing a Teheran for Headley trade, but if we could obtain him at a decent cost it’d be a great, great move with Chipper moving on.
COLORADO 4 WASHINGTON 2 FINAL
June 25th, 201211:24 pm
thank you Rox
June 25th, 201211:27 pm
For those of you with access check out Milone for Oakland against Seattle. See the way he hits location.
It’s what Minor SHOULD BE but unfortunately he has the wrong set of genitalia at this point in his young career. He needs to work on his location but instead the genius field commander wants to “keep throwing him out there” at the major league level.
With that philosophy why trade for ANYONE? Horrible. Minor should be in Gwinnett working on pitching inside more.
Headley would be a decent pick up too. no guarantee but he might be an 800ish hitter in the Ted
June 25th, 201211:29 pm
Minor has never had pinpoint control like that, has nothing to do with cojones. since adding a coupla miles on his FB he has even less
June 25th, 201211:32 pm
His change of speed is good. His location sucks. And he needs to work on it.
June 25th, 201211:35 pm
yeah he does, but I’m not sure it will come. pretty average stuff across the board of all his pitches
June 25th, 201211:38 pm
June 25th, 201211:40 pm
Minor sucks. He always looks scared on the mound, especially when a runner is on base. Wuss.
June 25th, 201211:42 pm
That was mean. Minor is still young and does have pretty high expectations. What have I done to talk so much smack?
June 25th, 201211:43 pm
tons of rain. guess this was a real Debbie downer…..
June 25th, 201211:47 pm
nite guys, I’ll be off. Cya’ll later. Take care.
June 25th, 201211:49 pm
that’s why I would never live in Florida.
June 25th, 201211:58 pm
There is a kind of sick humor in this excerpt from a FOXNews article about Aimee Copeland’s recovery after her battle with flesh eating bacteria. See if you can find the typo that does it.
The news is a massive turnaround from when Copeland was first admitted, and doctors reportedly told her parents her survival chances were “slime to none.”
June 26th, 201212:03 am
So, has “Debby done Dunedin?”
June 26th, 201212:06 am
Rome LHP Alex Wood made his debut tonight: 2 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 0 BB’s and 4 K’s.
Four batters said, “WTF?”
June 26th, 201212:09 am
And most of us will continue to bitch about this ownership [Liberty Media].
I’d be willing to bet, outside five people on this blog, nobody cares who owns the Braves. Of the 2+M fans who attend the games this year, very, very few have heard of Liberty Media.
June 26th, 201212:12 am
If they see Chipper out there, they are good to go
June 26th, 201212:16 am
Maybe I’m wrong on that, but it apparently looked a ton better vs. Toronto.
Teheran’s bender and his approach in general looked light years better against Toronto than it had looked last year and in ST.
Then, he looked at the score board, realized the win was his for the taking, and freaked out.
June 26th, 201212:27 am
Still not thinking that the Braves will be looking into any starting pitchers (unless the price is fairly low). We have too many in-house choices.
Teheran, Jurrjens, Medlen.

Hello everyone! I would go with Josh Willingham, because he fits the Braves budget. Also he could play for the Braves a couple of years until Todd Cunningham is ready, or sign Bourn is first option, ans then in a couple of years move him to LF, and then bring up Todd Cunningham. The way Todd Cunningham is swinging the bat, the Braves could bring him up next year too? Braves could wait to see how Todd Cunningham does too? That’s a nother option. That’s what I would do.
June 26th, 20122:34 am
If Braves can’t sign anyone for LF, then I would wait on Todd Cunningham. Then I would just sign Bourn. Braves do have Parraz they could go with for this year when he gets healthy, and then bring up Todd Cunningham next year “If” he continues to hit?
June 26th, 20122:38 am
Would I like a trade for LF Bat Yes, but if the cost is too much no. Braves have options for LF. I would focus more on starting pitching, and back up (SS). Jack Wilson can’t hit.
June 26th, 20122:47 am
Ward: Simmons will play most of the games at SS the rest of the season, he is a budding star. We don’t need to spend money on a backup SS, because Wilson is perfect for that role, plus he can play 2nd and 3rd. The money is better spent for pitching or someone like Willingham.
June 26th, 20122:50 am
Lidge was the most hated on the Phillies team, but when healthy he can pitch well. He wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign to the Minors, and see what he can do? I wouldn’t mind seeing him the forth man. Kimbrel., Venters, EOF, Ligde. Not a bad idea. Lidge would be way better than Livan was.
June 26th, 20122:51 am
Ken – Simmons will be great, but Braves need a better back up (SS). Wilson can’t hit, and we don’t need that in tight ball games.
June 26th, 20122:58 am
Ward: No, but we need Wilson’s defense and knowledge of how to make plays in tight games. I must get some sleep, have a good night and a good day tomorrow.
June 26th, 20123:01 am
Ken – Have a good one! I wouldn’t mind seeing the Braves give Parraz a shot this year when he gets healthy?
