N8, not picking on your comment – moreso just discussing the thought process by some that Teheran should be used in a trade while Mike Minor sucks it up in the big leagues. Tough for me to swallow since i hated the Minor pick and now one of the best arms in the org. in the last 5-7 years could be traded because Mike Minor couldn’t even pitch to an ERA in the 5’s……

I think we have to be patient as they mature from throwers to pitchers.
Another 18 months will see BEACHY back to full power and hopefully as good or better than before.
HANSON should have matured by then
MINOR too and DELGADO
VIZCAINO should be at full strength.
MEDLEN should be about as good as he’ll get.
TEHERAN hopefully will at least be on the 25-man
and maybe JR GRAHAM.
I don’t know about REDMOND, SPRUILL, HALE, GILMARTIN, LAMM, NORTHCRAFT, SIMS or WOOD.
Looks like’ Wild-thang’ PEREZ isn’t gonna’ make it.

So Brad Lidge just got released.
I wouldn’t mind taking a flier on him and over him a minor league deal and if he makes it to the main roster, have it be an incentive laden deal perhaps.

If so, gonna be interesting having him and Beachy, later in the year, coming on… seems like we need to make sure we carry a couple of pitchers with options into the season.

I was told two weeks ago, and said it here, that Braves weren’t interested in Saunders and had a lot of other options they’d pursue before him.

During spring training. In March. So that’s when you can expect him back, sometime around next March, maybe ready for the start of the season but not guaranteed.

Wouldn’t hurt giving Lidge a shot in the minors to regain his effectiveness and prove he is healthy. If he can do that, bring him up and see what he can do. Wouldn’t cost a ton.

That’s what I’m saying, a minor league deal wouldn’t hurt. It’d have the potential to be a low risk/high reward deal. If he can be fixed in minors, then bringing him up wouldn’t hurt.
Say he is signed and is fixed. He could be the bullpen arm, put Medlen in rotation and trade Minor for another starter and/or bat. That would be relatively the cheaper way to go.

Lidge said when the Nats cut him that he was 100% healthy… didn’t make any excuses. It is tempting to wonder if he just needs time to regain his command. Still strikes out a batter an inning.
Really don’t see it, of course.
Lidge and Liriano, lol. Sign’em and stick’em down at Rome or Lynchburg, let them show the younguns what a major league fastball looks like.

Josh Willingham with career .844 OPS avg. 27 HR in LF with Prado at 3rd is absolute comedy and will not help this team at all but Headley with career OPS .741 avg. 12 HR is worth giving up “a lot” as the Padres demand. Wish I had a speck of brain to understand the deep thinking behind this. On 2nd thought, I take that wish back.

Prado’s value is in the infield. Solid defense and a bat that is good in the IF but mediocre in the OF. The left fielder needs to have power or speed. A contact hitter should be on the infield at a position other than 1B

Cricket, can’t help with that, lol. Can tell you to look at Headley’s age, his likely salary the next two years (which ain’t cheap but not expensive either), his splits outside of that black hole that he plays in, his defense, and the fact that he has the second highest WAR of any 3B in baseball this year, behind only David Wright.
I’m not pushing a Teheran for Headley trade, but if we could obtain him at a decent cost it’d be a great, great move with Chipper moving on.

For those of you with access check out Milone for Oakland against Seattle. See the way he hits location.
It’s what Minor SHOULD BE but unfortunately he has the wrong set of genitalia at this point in his young career. He needs to work on his location but instead the genius field commander wants to “keep throwing him out there” at the major league level.
With that philosophy why trade for ANYONE? Horrible. Minor should be in Gwinnett working on pitching inside more.

Teheran’s bender and his approach in general looked light years better against Toronto than it had looked last year and in ST.

Hello everyone! I would go with Josh Willingham, because he fits the Braves budget. Also he could play for the Braves a couple of years until Todd Cunningham is ready, or sign Bourn is first option, ans then in a couple of years move him to LF, and then bring up Todd Cunningham. The way Todd Cunningham is swinging the bat, the Braves could bring him up next year too? Braves could wait to see how Todd Cunningham does too? That’s a nother option. That’s what I would do.

If Braves can’t sign anyone for LF, then I would wait on Todd Cunningham. Then I would just sign Bourn. Braves do have Parraz they could go with for this year when he gets healthy, and then bring up Todd Cunningham next year “If” he continues to hit?

Would I like a trade for LF Bat Yes, but if the cost is too much no. Braves have options for LF. I would focus more on starting pitching, and back up (SS). Jack Wilson can’t hit.

Ward: Simmons will play most of the games at SS the rest of the season, he is a budding star. We don’t need to spend money on a backup SS, because Wilson is perfect for that role, plus he can play 2nd and 3rd. The money is better spent for pitching or someone like Willingham.

Lidge was the most hated on the Phillies team, but when healthy he can pitch well. He wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign to the Minors, and see what he can do? I wouldn’t mind seeing him the forth man. Kimbrel., Venters, EOF, Ligde. Not a bad idea. Lidge would be way better than Livan was.
