Freeman’s 6.4 BB% disagrees with you, that is very Frenchy like.

I’m hoping it’s just a crummy 2nd season, a year of adjustment , it happens to many players, but if he doesn’t learn to walk more and take more pitches, he’s going to become a liability at 1st base

CONFIRMED: Bauer to start Thursday at Atlanta.

Only thing I’ll say is he’s a lot like Lincecum with more attitude. and we’ve had success there. But he’s the real deal.

Another one from my neck of the woods. Saw him as far back as Mustang league (age 10). Star pitcher at Hart High School before UCLA. And loves the pressure. He will be amped in his debut, no doubt.

Diamondbacks are surging and this guy is not going to hurt the cause.

Gotta hope he’s going to be over-amped as he tends to get. But he’s a tough cookie.

I would go for Garza, or Dempster, but wait until dempster is healthy, and I mean healthy.

Bat – It’s +54 only on 9 holes. Next I’m going to try 18 holes, but working my way. Going Golfing in three weeks.

NickB

well there are over 5 weeks until the deadline, though I expect Garza to be moved soon as the Cubs want to beat the other teams to the punch, if they wait too long, there will be more options and less reward

i used to be a decent golfer, never broke 80, but shot 82 several times, off of the deep tees (I’m a big guy 6′3 230) and could hit it a long way, mediocre irons but a good short game. Haven’t played since Katrina ruined my clubs though

Ward

NickB – There are 6 teams involved with Garza, and Yanks are one of them, and about six teams involved with Dempster too. It will be tough for Wren.

Ward

Bat – My cousin is a pretty good coach, so he’s teaching me well, and only used driving range twice, but we will see in 3 weeks how I do in 18 holes. It will be a different score.

All I want is Josh Willingham for Lf. Garza, or Dempster if Wren can pull it off? Then the Braves could make a run. Willingham would be great for next season.

oddly enough, I am thinking about writing a blog on the Chopnation forum about making an offseason deal with the Twins for both Willingham and Denard Span to fill our 2 outfield vacancies, then using the saved money to pursue Jake Peavy on a short term deal, his $22 mill option will surely be rejected and I bet he could be had for 2 years $24 million as just one year won’t fully restore his value.

It appears Fredi suffers from major pride issues. He decides Heyward is going to bat seventh, then that’s the way it is, come hell or high water. It’s almost as if knowing everybody else thinks Heyward should bat highter makes him dig his heels even more. Posessing the quality of leadership requires one to have the ability to adapt and even admit mistakes…

how can you like a guy with a 688 OPS away from home?

NickB

June 25th, 2012
4:59 am

nolie

well, because the fact his BB% and K% are so different between home and away makes me think that it’s not just the “dome effect”. If they stayed near the same home and away, then you would suspect he is getting that benefit. But ,due the big difference between them, it makes me think it’s a comfort issue more than anything….. Seems like he is more focused at home than on the road, and that might carry over to whichever team he ends up with.

To get Span and Willingham, what is the package going to MN? Would absolutely have to include Teheran, ++++. Great idea but should FW give up that much?

Coud be something to visit over thge winter. Another deal to consider is one fro Chase Headly ( as everyone has suggested), plus Clayton Richard. Don’t know what it would cost but I’d be tempted to give up either Delgado or Teharan.

nolie

June 25th, 2012
6:45 am

if he is not willing to deal Teheran, we really don’t have all that much that would interest most teams IMO

Biff Pocaroba

June 25th, 2012
6:52 am

Agreed. It”s crazy that all Winter and Spring we were all praising the pitching staff and now we are trying to figure out how to improve it. IMO i think it’s time to send Minor down to work on whatever it is he needs to work on, and bring tod Redmond up. He deserves a shot, plus he can’t do worse than Minor.

jeffrey d

Mike – between all the positions Willingham can play (especially with Chipper), I think they’ll be plenty of playing time for him. If nothing else, it will give Fredi the luxury of giving people regular days off without having to insert Hinske or Francisco.

A highly entertaining article on the Fredi’s continued mishandling of Heyward:

That was a little short of “entertaining”. Pretty much just a rant like 50 others you can see here on any day. Nothing in the content or style to give it any props.

As I’ve said before, good rants are hard to come by. Most of it is just mindless venting (and that’s fine, if that’s what the poster is going for), but very little of it is the least bit creative. Nobody seems willing to step up and put her skirt into it, at all.

Mike minor is a waste…. I dont like his pitching at all… im excited to see gilmartin pitch but thats a year or two away…. I would not trade our young pitchers (delgado, teheran)… I think we have a good core group that needs a better pitching coach to help fine tune there mechanics. If the braves do any deals please please get a hitter… I believe we still need hitting…. I mean Juan franstinko is awful and instead of having him play 3rd when chipper is off every other day have prado in there and get a left fielder!!!! GO BRAVES!!!

I think CC would look better pitching in a modified, pin-stripped Snuggie than he does in his PJ’s.

Serious stat – The Braves just completed their 15 game AL east stretch by going 6-9. To make that more impressive, the Yankees record against the AL East is 11-10.
