Freeman’s 6.4 BB% disagrees with you, that is very Frenchy like.
I’m hoping it’s just a crummy 2nd season, a year of adjustment , it happens to many players, but if he doesn’t learn to walk more and take more pitches, he’s going to become a liability at 1st base
June 24th, 201211:59 pm
yeah , that’s a smart plan…….
just, just go to your room……………
The A Bomb
June 25th, 201212:00 am
CONFIRMED: Bauer to start Thursday at Atlanta.
Only thing I’ll say is he’s a lot like Lincecum with more attitude. and we’ve had success there. But he’s the real deal.
Another one from my neck of the woods. Saw him as far back as Mustang league (age 10). Star pitcher at Hart High School before UCLA. And loves the pressure. He will be amped in his debut, no doubt.
June 25th, 201212:02 am
Hello everyone! Played Golf today, and played 9 holes. Shot a 54……. Braves record for Inter- League Play 6W 9L. Not too bad I’ll take it.
June 25th, 201212:03 am
Trading Mac is retarded, he is only 28.
and I will be nabbing bauer tonight for my fantasy team once the day changes, also adding anthony rizzo the cubs 1b phenom and may drop Morneau for Youkilis, see if maybe playing every day and the change of scenery boosts him up
June 25th, 201212:05 am
I’m just wondering what Wren is up to? Every thing is quiet, as of now. Nothing on the trading on any of the sites.
54 for 9 on your second time out. That’s not a par three course is it?
June 25th, 201212:06 am
Diamondbacks are surging and this guy is not going to hurt the cause.
Gotta hope he’s going to be over-amped as he tends to get. But he’s a tough cookie.
June 25th, 201212:08 am
I would go for Garza, or Dempster, but wait until dempster is healthy, and I mean healthy.
June 25th, 201212:10 am
Bat – It’s +54 only on 9 holes. Next I’m going to try 18 holes, but working my way. Going Golfing in three weeks.
June 25th, 201212:11 am
well there are over 5 weeks until the deadline, though I expect Garza to be moved soon as the Cubs want to beat the other teams to the punch, if they wait too long, there will be more options and less reward
June 25th, 201212:12 am
i used to be a decent golfer, never broke 80, but shot 82 several times, off of the deep tees (I’m a big guy 6′3 230) and could hit it a long way, mediocre irons but a good short game. Haven’t played since Katrina ruined my clubs though
Cubs are in next week…..Gotta expect talks to occur at the very least.
June 25th, 201212:13 am
Hey, that’s pretty good for your second time playing. Have you been hitting balls on the range for a while or what?
June 25th, 201212:14 am
NickB – There are 6 teams involved with Garza, and Yanks are one of them, and about six teams involved with Dempster too. It will be tough for Wren.
June 25th, 201212:15 am
Bat – My cousin is a pretty good coach, so he’s teaching me well, and only used driving range twice, but we will see in 3 weeks how I do in 18 holes. It will be a different score.
June 25th, 201212:17 am
I’m not hot on Garza….. I tend to think that the return will not outweigh the price, and the Yankees may not even ask for any payroll for him, that gives them the edge
June 25th, 201212:19 am
Damn, Nick. That’s been a while.
Katrina flooded you? Wiped you out?
June 25th, 201212:20 am
All I want is Josh Willingham for Lf. Garza, or Dempster if Wren can pull it off? Then the Braves could make a run. Willingham would be great for next season.
June 25th, 201212:21 am
Yep, got 4 feet of water, just enough to ruin everything….. my parents got 8 feet, I was a renter though….
June 25th, 201212:22 am
Willingham and Garza, huh.
That’s about $19mm added to next years payroll
June 25th, 201212:23 am
Wren, will have to make two trades in order for a Braves run. One trade wont cut it.
June 25th, 201212:24 am
Yeah, that sucks. Bad storm…. a few of them during that period.
Bat – Some one would have to go, but the question is who?
June 25th, 201212:26 am
Ward, golf is pretty fun, once you get into it.
oddly enough, I am thinking about writing a blog on the Chopnation forum about making an offseason deal with the Twins for both Willingham and Denard Span to fill our 2 outfield vacancies, then using the saved money to pursue Jake Peavy on a short term deal, his $22 mill option will surely be rejected and I bet he could be had for 2 years $24 million as just one year won’t fully restore his value.
looks pretty good to me
June 25th, 201212:27 am
oops, uggla got in there twice, dang laptop slider thingy
June 25th, 201212:28 am
Trey – I had a blast, and got some fresh air, and some sun. All good, and I didn’t realize that it would be that much fun. It relaxes you too. My arms are tired though, but had fun.
yes, who indeed
June 25th, 201212:30 am
NiickB – I don’t care who the Braves get. As long as the player isn’t washed up, or cheap.
June 25th, 201212:31 am
heck even if it’s 2 years $ 30 million…. i still think it’s worth it
June 25th, 201212:39 am
Thought I would come on for a few post tonight. All, have a good one! Let’s keep hope……Braves are still within shot. Peace my friends, and Talk tomorrow some time.”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
June 25th, 201212:46 am
Span is a dome baby. I’ll pass
June 25th, 201212:49 am
How’s the weather down there now?
June 25th, 201212:51 am
quieter. how bout up there
June 25th, 201212:53 am
The rain has stopped and the wind has died down some, for now. Dark as hell out there
I’m kinda hopin’ that they bring Mejia up in Sept if he keeps hitting
June 25th, 20121:00 am
he’s wearing it out, huh
June 25th, 20121:02 am
Wow — look at these names — Garza, Willingham, Span, etc…..
THOSE TEAMS SUCK FOR A REASON.
No thank you. Look at Byrd — out of a job right now.
Stand pat. We’re not a World Series team and definitely don’t have a World Series manager. 83-86 wins. Perpetual mediocrity until we get an owner willing to spend
June 25th, 20121:07 am
Peavy? Show me the 200 innings and then come calling — five years since he’s had a lights-out season. No thank you at $12 million?
June 25th, 20121:08 am
Ward, I know what you mean. I got some Sun last Sunday and ended up with a 2nd degree sunburn.
June 25th, 20121:10 am
Willingham is a very good hitter and he is well under market value, take him in a heartbeat
June 25th, 20121:44 am
A highly entertaining article on the Fredi’s continued mishandling of Heyward:

June 25th, 20122:16 am
It appears Fredi suffers from major pride issues. He decides Heyward is going to bat seventh, then that’s the way it is, come hell or high water. It’s almost as if knowing everybody else thinks Heyward should bat highter makes him dig his heels even more. Posessing the quality of leadership requires one to have the ability to adapt and even admit mistakes…
June 25th, 20123:23 am
Back for just one post – Saw how well Todd Cunningham is doing. Keep on hitting…… I’m rooting for you. Hope to see you a Brave soon? Todd is learning how to hit. Awesome………………Peace Out…….”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
June 25th, 20123:26 am
Todd needs to learn to walk about twice as often as he does so far
June 25th, 20123:46 am
I like Span, he isn’t Bourn, but he won’t cost that much either…
June 25th, 20124:32 am
how can you like a guy with a 688 OPS away from home?
June 25th, 20124:59 am
well, because the fact his BB% and K% are so different between home and away makes me think that it’s not just the “dome effect”. If they stayed near the same home and away, then you would suspect he is getting that benefit. But ,due the big difference between them, it makes me think it’s a comfort issue more than anything….. Seems like he is more focused at home than on the road, and that might carry over to whichever team he ends up with.
June 25th, 20126:11 am
To get Span and Willingham, what is the package going to MN? Would absolutely have to include Teheran, ++++. Great idea but should FW give up that much?
June 25th, 20126:18 am
no he will probably not give up Teheran IMO
June 25th, 20126:22 am
Don’t know what happened to Span. his first two years his OBP was very good, the last three years it is 50 to 60 points less.
June 25th, 20126:29 am
plus he’s another damn lefty hitter. Sick unto death of them
June 25th, 20126:31 am
nolie— If FW does not give upTeheran, who does he give up? Could we get Glen Perkins in place of Span?
June 25th, 20126:34 am
I don’t think he will make anywhere that big a trade myself.
June 25th, 20126:43 am
Coud be something to visit over thge winter. Another deal to consider is one fro Chase Headly ( as everyone has suggested), plus Clayton Richard. Don’t know what it would cost but I’d be tempted to give up either Delgado or Teharan.
June 25th, 20126:45 am
if he is not willing to deal Teheran, we really don’t have all that much that would interest most teams IMO
June 25th, 20126:52 am
Agreed. It”s crazy that all Winter and Spring we were all praising the pitching staff and now we are trying to figure out how to improve it. IMO i think it’s time to send Minor down to work on whatever it is he needs to work on, and bring tod Redmond up. He deserves a shot, plus he can’t do worse than Minor.
June 25th, 20127:05 am
good to hear a voice of reason
Yep. Reminded me. I passed by the suburbs the other day and saw your still kickin’. Don’t like Rhubarb Pie, anymore?
June 25th, 20127:20 am
So for all the Josh Willingham people on the boards…where is he going to play this season??? Sure…Prado goes to 3rd and Josh plays left field next year but where is he going to play THIS YEAR???
June 25th, 20127:34 am
Mike – between all the positions Willingham can play (especially with Chipper), I think they’ll be plenty of playing time for him. If nothing else, it will give Fredi the luxury of giving people regular days off without having to insert Hinske or Francisco.
June 25th, 20127:37 am
It’s about time that Jason gets a break from some of his critics here!
June 25th, 20127:39 am
The last I checked, Chipper’s been out of the line up more than in it. I think that’s going to be the rule more than the exception the rest of the season. Willingham would get plenty of playing time.
June 25th, 20127:40 am
wow…I think there’ll be plenty of playing time for Willingham, not they’ll.
June 25th, 20127:45 am
jeffery d – On a Braves blog, there’s and they’s are interchangable. Example:
There’s oil in those hills = They’s oil in those hills.
June 25th, 20127:47 am
they’ll flowed better in the statement.
Thanks Jimmy. I was scared I was about to ruin the grammatical sanctity of the blog.
June 25th, 20127:48 am
Yeah, if I was wearing overalls.
June 25th, 20127:51 am
Good to see Brooks Conrad help the Ray sweep the Phils yeaertday.
June 25th, 20127:53 am
“if I was wearing overalls”
That is one of the things I hate about going to work.
Flippin dress code!
Of course, Shaun stays in his Snuggie all day.
June 25th, 20128:00 am
Hey,leave Snuggies alone.
I was scared I was about to ruin the grammatical sanctity of the blog.
June 25th, 20128:04 am
I always made fun of Snuggies. Then I visited my sister and she had like, 3 of them.
June 25th, 20128:06 am
So that’s where you’ve been!
June 25th, 20128:09 am
Wearing Snuggies? I didn’t realize those were time consuming
June 25th, 20128:12 am
When you’re blind…
June 25th, 20128:13 am
That was a little short of “entertaining”. Pretty much just a rant like 50 others you can see here on any day. Nothing in the content or style to give it any props.
As I’ve said before, good rants are hard to come by. Most of it is just mindless venting (and that’s fine, if that’s what the poster is going for), but very little of it is the least bit creative. Nobody seems willing to step up and put her skirt into it, at all.
No heart, no grit for most ranters.
“Honey, can you wash the dishes?”
“I can’t, I’m wearing my Snuggie!”
June 25th, 20128:23 am
“Shaun stays in his Snuggie all day.”
“Then I visited my sister and she had like, 3 of them.”
And there you have it.
They’s something to be said about a Snuggie.
Braves Fan in Maine
June 25th, 20128:25 am
Mike minor is a waste…. I dont like his pitching at all… im excited to see gilmartin pitch but thats a year or two away…. I would not trade our young pitchers (delgado, teheran)… I think we have a good core group that needs a better pitching coach to help fine tune there mechanics. If the braves do any deals please please get a hitter… I believe we still need hitting…. I mean Juan franstinko is awful and instead of having him play 3rd when chipper is off every other day have prado in there and get a left fielder!!!! GO BRAVES!!!
June 25th, 20128:27 am
I really don’t have anything against the Snuggie.
It is one of those products that hits the market, makes alot of money, then fades away.
That stupid talking fish mount.
And the like.
June 25th, 20128:31 am
…..’And she lived her life….like a candle in the wind’, never knowing how that snuggie fell on the floor in front of him.
June 25th, 20128:32 am
After thinking about it, I believe I have four of them.
Billy Mays is dead.
June 25th, 20128:34 am
…..And I would have loved to know her but I was just a kid, the candle burned out long before her snuggie ever did…..
June 25th, 20128:35 am
When Heyward got his BA up to .260 the other day, I’m thinking, “Well, only got a week’s worth of games left this month, and he’d probably need 8 or 10 hits in those to get his average up to .270, so he’ll probably end the month still south of that.” I didn’t know he was gonna rack up seven hits in three days, LOL.
June 25th, 20128:37 am
I’m pretty much done on uggla. Did everyone see some swings he took at balls a foot or so OUTSIDE the strike zone ? In the DIRT and so on !!!!
I am for dumping him ASAP, overpaid and NON productive to say the VERY LEAST !!!!
What about Zach Grinke ? UFA after season, could come in here and really help the club, uggla in Milwaukee ??? Sounds GREAT to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 25th, 20128:40 am
Check out Heyward’s Home/Road splits:
June 25th, 20128:41 am
I think CC would look better pitching in a modified, pin-stripped Snuggie than he does in his PJ’s.
Serious stat – The Braves just completed their 15 game AL east stretch by going 6-9. To make that more impressive, the Yankees record against the AL East is 11-10.
I’d say we did OK. Not great, but it could have been much worse. That is a tough division.
June 25th, 20128:42 am
I didn’t know he was gonna rack up seven hits in three days, LOL.
Were’nt we talking about another 50-100 plate appearances of this? I mean, good lord, kid is up to .278/.351/.510 and most of that damage was done vs. American League pitching. Well done, Jason.
June 25th, 20128:43 am
Retarded…. let’s think just a little bit before we post. Uggla is non-productive… yeah. And we can’t just dump him either. Geez
June 25th, 20128:44 am
He leads NL 2B in R,HR,XBH,RBI, and BB. I don’t know how you can eternally judge him based on a 2 week slump
Ease – Billy Mays. I know. Made money and faded away.
For what it is worth. I have no snuggies and several overalls.
Still waiting on pitchers walking the kid. I mean, they are going right after him and he is making them pay with every at bat. At some point, they have to start pitching around him. Atchinson went 3-1 on him in his last at bat, but came back with two very good backdoor breaking balls that Heyward let go by.
and most of that damage was done vs. American League pitching.
…and plenty of damage against lefties not named Sabathia.
June 25th, 20128:46 am
Still waiting on pitchers walking the kid. I mean, they are going right after him and he is making them pay with every at bat.
Scared of Simmons, obviously.
I really want a banjo
