Erfim, I think you actually said “a couple” in your prediction didn’t you? I wold go back and look myself but this FN computer screen keeps locking up and jumping around.
Something tells me the Heyward Homer today is the start of something special for that young man….last few games, hes beginning to show that promise of a star…..Keep it up JHEY!
I was so furious with JHey last night because of that you know—but he has made up for that in a very huge manner–simply awesome production and effort Jason!!!
Heyward belongs in the sixth hole if not moving up to batting third. He’s been the most productive bat during this month of June. So Fredi G. needs to pull his head out of his butt and MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!
p.s. It’s great to see our offense finally pounding the ball, not to mention taking two out of three from the Yankees and Yankee stadium.
Remember some of you….keep the Wayward stuff in tow for the next 4 for 20 streak. We’ll hear from you then.
Listen, I’m a big believer in the kid, and everybody here knows that, but whaddya say we let him rake for an entire month, at least, before we bring out the anointing oil again?
No, I’m laughing at all the apologists who’ve been killing the guy for 2 years and now coming out and saying, “I’ve always liked Jason…..Yay!……..He’s back….”
Just like the Wild Thing stuff from Major League II… comical.
So let me get this straight, Homer Simpson…when a Yankee hits a home run into the front row, it’s because the stadium is a joke (notice how you can’t spell joke, without j-o-e) and when Jason Hayward does it, it’s AMAZING.
Some of you think the Braves bloggers are too hard of the team, Fredi etc. Try living in NY. The YES broadcasters are blaming this beat down on A Rod hitting into that DP. “All he had to do was hit a sac fly and we’re tied. Then Girardi would have used different pitchers, yadda yadda. They have won 20 out of 25 but they whine about every loss. That is one thing you never hear Chip or Joe do — say no wrong about their beloved boys.
Before anybody gives Fredi too much credit, the Braves have scored today in spite of his lineup. Our #3 hitter, the “Designated Hitter,” sports a .235 average and is 0-for-4 with 2 K’s. Meanwhile, our #9 hitter, our “other” catcher, is batting .286 for the year and has 2 hits. I doubt there are too many teams playing today with a DH batting under .250. It’s a good thing we don’t play by minor league rules for most of the year!
What the Braves need is a new owner. Liberty has no interest in winning a championship. So why waste your time with the Braves. When fans show they’ve had enough, things will get better.
I remember reading the AJC blogs about Jhey. For some reason Atlanta “fans” wanted him gone or sent down. He and JJ seemed to be blamed for all atlanta’s short comings instead of a functional 80 million dollar payroll. By OPS Jhey is our best hitter, not prado, freeman or bourn.
I’m gonna be sitting right by Pesky Pole at Fenway on Sunday afternoon, along with by 3rd base on Saturday evening. I hope to see Heyward hit a bomb by the Pesky Pole!
nolie, I don’t know about that. A 94 OPS+ for Andruw isn’t awful for a bench player.
Andruw should be a Hall of Famer. But he has a low batting average and a lot of his value was because of his defense, so I wouldn’t be surprised if many voters don’t notice what an impressive career he had.
