How did that stay in the park!?!
The A Bomb
This faith in Durbin on a day full of dingers is a cause for major concern.
Field commander Fredo putting his troops in the line of fire AGAIN.
June 20th, 20123:26 pm
Durbinator time, I actually trust him now, even if his peripherals say he’s been lucky
Do the braves really want to win with Francisco on the roster and Jose C. in the minors?
June 20th, 20123:27 pm
But I might add that I’d have someone stretching in the pen.
Constanza sucks as much as Francisco, and Francisco doesn’t have any options left
This faith in Durbin on a day full of dingers is a cause for major concern
On the other hand, if Durbin can get it done on a day like today, even I might have to revise my view of him, LOL.
I’m in favor of the DH for the NL but it would be a dream for the field commander, who could add complexities to his “retail” scheduling that would have all our heads spinning.
June 20th, 20123:28 pm
game is too close for comfort and yes, some insurance would sure be nice in the 8th
June 20th, 20123:29 pm
A Bomb , Durbin hasn’t given up a HR since May 7th
BravesQueen, you’re welcome.
June 20th, 20123:30 pm
Who do you take in crunch time at this point…
Venters or Durbin??
Is it the DH that makes so many middle of the inning pitching changes? I like the NL where you try to get through an inning and use a PH before the reliever. Or double switches to skip the pitcher batting. A lot more strategy rather than just having an extra slugger. That’s just me.
Durbinator is a great name by the way
and Francisco doesn’t have any options left
Come on, seriously. You really think somebody would pick up Francisco on waivers?
Brooklyn Braves Brawler
June 20th, 20123:31 pm
Hey, Durbs just has to get us through the inning with a one run lead. Craig Kimbrel is the truth in the ninth!
Not another walk!
Sets up the double play.
Get a grounder Chad. Throw the slider.
June 20th, 20123:32 pm
well, another problem with the DH is that it allows managers to leave starters in longer and thus use their pens less, meaning they are fresher come playoff time .
Crazy —- Hard choice there.
Leo would have no bullpen by now — all would be assassinated. By him.
“Come on, seriously. You really think somebody would pick up Francisco on waivers?”
Well, we made a trade for him…..haha
is ncscoots Bobby Cox? His 3:15 has all the marks of him being the former skip.
i’m a nervous wreck.
umm, don’t forget the 8th, I reckon that’ll be EOF
June 20th, 20123:33 pm
“Who do you take in crunch time at this point…
Venters or Durbin??”
With a gun to my head, I would still take Venters.
Lord help, it’s only bottom of the 7th. God, I hope Durbin can get Jeter.
Sons of Rick Matula
June 20th, 20123:34 pm
Nervous time, pour me One scotch, one Durbin, one beer
I like how Durbin has started busting guys inside with his fastball
As Much as I have Crapped on Durbin, He has been an Unsung Hero in the pen the last 6 weeks
Meds up throwing.
June 20th, 20123:35 pm
Come on, seriously. You really think somebody would pick up Francisco on waivers?”
He’s only 24… I’m pretty confident someone would pick him up!! He probably needs to be in AAA playing everyday!!
that looked like a goo pitch
I take that as a compliment, but I see your point, LOL.
Who pitches the 8th for the Braves…O’Flat or Medlen?
That is, if the Brave survive the 7th unscathed.
“i’m a nervous wreck.”
Me Too, I need a Bag To Blow In
Can someone pass me a Cancerstick?
June 20th, 20123:36 pm
F-it I’d bring in Eric for 2 innings!!
YES is wondering where all the fans have gone from the all but empty stadium bleachers? Waaah, it,s too hot. Will ESPN show those empty seats and mock NY fans for being wuses? Not likely.
MickB – “that looked like a goo pitch,”
The goo pitch is illegal in MLB.
Come on Chad!
Doofus(Goober and Gomer's Smart Brother)
June 20th, 20123:37 pm
I’m in SC and it’s hotter in NY right now than it is here. It’s 88 here and 92 there. Love it! Suffer you rats, suffer! Good news for you though, 96 there tomorrow. HA!
Oh boy, here come the Walks…That is shooting yourself in the foot with this Squad
Oh, Lord! Just when we need Durbin to be spot-on, he’s struggling to throw strikes. Now the go-ahead at the plate in the form of Granderson
Grandy Man Can HR right here. Calling it….
wondering where all the fans have gone from the all but empty stadium bleachers?
NY terrible baseball town!!
NOW BEING LEFT IN THE GAME…….NUMBAH THIRTY-TWO….CHAD….DURBIN……NUMBAH THIRTY-TWO…….
June 20th, 20123:38 pm
7th / 8th who cares I’d have Eric in right now!!!
Get Durbin out before he gives up the lead, please, Fredi, I am begging.
Fredi not going to use Eric O? Perfect place to use him with Granderson up…….guess not
Man, I’m all over predictions today. Tommy Hanson plays homerun derby and can’t go deep. And Durbin back to being the give-it-up boy.
Hillbilly and I are in business again.
threw him a spinner, let’s see if Fredi leaves him out there
June 20th, 20123:39 pm
Now wait til the bases are laoded to put in Meds. I will never get Fredi
the Braves and their leadoff walks that score …….
Got to hold ‘em right where they are now
of course he leaves him in …….
As Soon as I praise The Durbinator, he goes Back to Gas Can Status…UGGGGHHHH
Let’s not start bashing Durbin because he gave up a run. He has been spot on lately
June 20th, 20123:40 pm
Oh hell yeah!
Whew! Still, gotta get a few more runs in the 8th to keep this from being this interesting.
I KNEW HE COULD DO IT! Apparently steroids don’t make you quicker…
I’ll say it…..Durbs was lucky!
Durbin is disturbin……………
Venters gives me splinters………….
but, Kimbrel,……… he’s so nimble!
Get him in now, FG!
Well said, Murph…
Well done, boys.
Whew what a cutter. He made a real clutch pitch.
Was that a win dispite of Fredi?
This is how you tell the difference between a World Series caliber team and an imposter. The Yankees keep watching pitchers and waiting and making them work while the Braves to to the plate hacking, hoping to hit a home run everytime.
The were fortunate to get out of the inning but they seriously need another bat in that lineup.
Turn it Bravos
June 20th, 20123:41 pm
Excellent work to get out of that jam by Durbin.
and makes my face red by gettin the double play…oh well
This is what I predicted would happen a few weeks ago. Durbin would pitch over his head for a few weeks and Fredi would start giving him greater responsibility. To be fair, though, it’s not like anyone else is stepping up.
Big DP there.
Please bring Kimbrel in to face Cano, please bring Kimbrel in to face Cano….
Who wants to bet we see Medlen in the bottom of the 8th? I can guarantee you it won’t be good if we do.
venters problem this season is that he is not getting ahead of hitters. if he gets ahead of them, they’ll swing at anything he throws!
Can’t walk these guys in that stadium, they’ll make you pay.
Durbs is nails!
WOOHOO< GOT A-ROID
That’s what I have said about this club all season.
Can’t step on anyone’s throat because the field commander has no killer instinct. Zero.
6-1 to 6-5. An old script.
You people…..other than Kimbrell…..Durbin has been the Braves best reliever….and especially lately. There you go, double play ball. Now…..go cry about something else.
OK, don’t wait intil later to complain about FG.
Who do you have pitching the 8th?
Kimbrel for 2 innings?
Put it out there now instead of after the game.
I go with EOF..though Meds was throwing.
June 20th, 20123:42 pm
We Need to Put a Fatality on The Yankees, Kimmie is Due to Blow one,Or In other words….
We Need some Insurance!
Braves don’t need another bat in the lineup, they just need to alter their approach back to how it was in April and May, take more pitches, walk more, plate discipline
Durbin pitched pretty good. Tough park with tough hitters. Main thing is he didn’t give them a lead.
June 20th, 20123:43 pm
Little insurance would not hurt, though. I hate lead off walks, even in slow pitch softball.
EOF for Cano, Swisher and most likely Andruw Jones replacing Ibanez.
O’F will face Cano in the 8th, I would imagine.
June 20th, 20123:44 pm
Mercy the Yanks have a pen. They don’t walk anybody.
Well, DOB put the Voodoo Hex on him in his blog today, so I guess one run is tolerable. We’ll keep our eyes on him, though.
Hell Yeah Martini! He better Score, Come On Boyz!
Love the leadoff double, Prado!!!
I bet Fredi doesnt even use superior plumbing
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
