Remember — Heyward is 22 in this THIRD full season of MLB….

Only a handful of players recently can say that — Griffey, ARod, Yount, Cedeno off the top of my head.

He’s in elite company already.

his mechanics went into disarray from the injuries more than anything else

Well yeah, I know he did get back to taking a lot of walks by the end of the season. What I meant was when he was guessing, cheating, whatever it was trying to hit.

George Stein

No doubt, A Bomb. He was out of this world in 2010 and very average last year. Ws on pace for a superstar year now.

that was because his mechanics were screwed up due to the injury.can be really tough to notice though it seems like it wouldn’t, and even tuffer to cure. the human reaction to stress is to return to the way one is comfortable with even if it is wrong.

In that respect, Bat, Heyward still isn’t there. He isn’t walking (though he takes good ABs) nearly as much as he did two years ago.

He was walking more earlier. He had a stretch with 10, or 11 walks in 10 games I think. I think scoots had it right the other day when he said Heyward wants to hit. The more he hits the more carefully he will be pitched and I would imagine he will take his walks.

Yeah, I guess what I was trying to say was, Heyward’s good eye at the plate was not doing him any good if he was swinging early to try and catch up.

Excellent win, fun game to watch. YANKEE STADIUM on a warm day makes CIN ballpark seem huge. JASON will never be a high ave hitter, but if he continues to play like he has lately I would be more than happy with a .250 ave.

I think, for this year, Heyward should shoot for .275/.360/.475. If he does that and continues to provide elite defense, he will be just fine.

Jason is already at 262/340/480. I’d love to see him get those numbers up to 280/375/500 or so. (or higher?)

Actually, if we can stay healthy and keep from having multiple players from going into a funk at the same time, we’ll be OK.

But a Willingham or Headley would sure help a lot.

Best of luck BB on your upcoming TJ surgery. You’ll be missed.

It’s funny reading the Yankee fans comments after losing two in a row. Hey, their manager the dumbest person alive, too according to those fans. He can’t use a pen correctly and takes out starters either too soon of keeps them in too long.

And no, this doesn’t mean I’m suddenly a Fredi fan. I ain’t. But it just shows managers can’t please the fans on most nights.

And then when asked what he thought of Maddon and his comments that the Nationals were “cowardly” and pulled “a chickens*** move” by calling the umpires’ attention to Peralta’s glove, Johnson told Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.com: “I don’t know him that well, but I thought he was a weird wuss anyways.”

MADISON, S.D. (AP) — From the moment 73-year-old Carl Ericsson rang his old high school classmate’s doorbell in January, verified the man’s identity and then shot him dead, the question had been what prompted him to confront a man he hadn’t even spoken to in years.
The startling answer, a prosecutor said Friday, was a 1950s locker room humiliation that festered in Ericsson’s mind for a half-century.
“He said that a jockstrap was put on his head,” Kenneth Meyer said. “It’s the only thing he’s ever mentioned in talking to law enforcement.”
