Yeah, DAP. I wanted to re-post, but without italics, it made no sense. And, I just don’t have the time to learn italics. As the last two hours, and five years, clearly show.
He typically spends his afternoons on a blog about cocker spaniels… I’m not sure which one, though, so I’d recommend you close this window and just start at the beginning.
He posts under a different name, though, so you’ll need to spend some time reading the blogs and matching up his mannerisms.
The Braves have said that Medlen was too valuable in the pen to be a starter. But after losing Beachy and JJ, I think now that Medlen is too valuable as a starter to be in the pen. That means getting some more arms for the pen, but finding bullpen arms is easier than finding starters.
Even though they deny it looks like they are pressing to me. If they dont make the playoffs this year it will be what 1 appearance in last 7 years. We have seen teams such as Milwaukee, St Louis, Colorado and Texas just to name a few to pass us. We are considered among the others and in the lower portion of that group. My prediction is that heads will roll if there is no playoff appearance this year. Good bye to Terry, Frank and Fredi.
Meden, Jurrjens or Teheran. I guess I see the point that one of these dudes should be able to cover us with the Beachy injury. Just hope Minor and Delgado can continue to progress.
NYBRAVESFAN: If we got Greinke, all it would take is for him to read the blogs from the AJC about him, and his social disorder would put him on the DL.
DHing Chipper would be better if Constanza was on the roster, so Martin could play 3rd. As it is, DHing Chipper would mean either Francisco at 3B or Diaz in LF against a RHP. Neither are very appealing.
the braves have 2-3 hitters who change their hitting philosophy on a bat by bat basis, depending on number of outs, men on base, RISP, etc…bourn, prado..and simmons…all the others swing for the fence, regardless of the situation…as long as that happens, they’ll hit into inning ending double plays..the most recent opponent, the yankees, get men on base and drive them in..they swing for hits..not the fences…even in their short fence home, the NEW yankee stadium…. chipper/mccann…bases loaded..pitcher just walked two batters to load the bases..what do they do…swing at first pitch…double play ground out…the pitcher is the guy in trouble…not the batter..very frustrating to watch, night after night…
The Braves need Hinske. What can they do, just drop him? He’s been very cold for a long time. Might as well try to get him going with a day at the office, in a familiar DH spot.
Aren’t the Braves 0-8 in the last eight postseason games against the Yankees (last four games of 96 World Series and 99 sweep)? Also, I only remember the Atlanta version of the Braves winning two games against the Yankees in postseason play (overall record 2-8). Anyway you slice the numbers, I despise the Yankees.
Didn’t intend to wake you up with the text message, but glad it worked out. I’m just goofin’ at work right now, because in light of the current situation, it all feels pointless.
Yes, my niece threw up at that game, resulting in a prissy little couple in front of us complaining and requesting that we be moved. So, we got moved one section over (away from home plate) and in that row of seats behind the back rail of the terrace level seats. View of the field was fine but couldn’t see the Big Board due to the overhang from the 3rd deck. I was little ticked off, as you can imagine. She knows better – it happens again, she’ll be moving by herself.
Murph – I’m far from certain that illustrations would help all that much. What is needed is for someone to sit in the dugout next t Fredi and at appropriate times hit him upside the head and say “No, the bases are loaded with one out and you CAN’T put Livan in there in this situation – use Venters instead.”
Of course, Wren took Livan out of Fredi’s arsenal, so that particular FUBAR ain’t happening again, but you get the drift.
The great gonzo needs to be fired because he has no clue how to manage in game situations. The offense is struggling i get it, but he has no clue how to manufacture runs the right way.
last night he has the 5 hitter (diaz) bunt in the 4th but in the fifth doesnt have the 9 hitter (ross ) bunt. The idiot had the pitcher bat 8th while constanza was here so we would have speed at 9-1 but last night he has simmons at 8 and ross at 9?
he needs out of here.
tomahawkin- is greinke the best number 1 out there – no , but he’s a number 1 who happens to be better than any of our pitchers so think about it a little before you shoot it down.
Count me as someone who thinks if the offense was doing their job, the pitching would be better. It’s hard to pitch thinking you have to throw a 3 hitter just to have a chance to win!
Again with McCann in the 3rd spot. Cripes, Fredi’s decisions are maddening sometimes.
Do you think Fredi even knows about sites like Baseball Reference dot com? One of you locals, next home game, make a sign with Baseball Reference on it in big, bold, legible letters and go hold it up behind the Braves’ dugout so Fredi can see it.
I bet my wife last night when the bottom of the 9th started that the game would end with a Heyward KO and she asked me if I was trying to trick her by watching the replay again.
It is so predictable it might as well be a re-run.
bravesgrl4life, so your niece pukes and you get moved to seats where you do not have to see or smell it and the prissy couple got to stay in their seats with the puke?
Grienke will be too expensive and he has admitted that he doesn’t like pitching in big games, we have better/cheaper options in the Farm…Its The AWFense that needs work
I was just poking around Baseball-Reference and saw that a lineup of:
C – McCann
1B – Freeman
2B – Uggla
3B – Jones
SS – Pastornicky/Simmons
LF – Prado
CF – Bourn
RF – Heyward
… has been used a total of 14 times (only once with Simmons).
Whether due to injury or random shuffling, the Braves haven’t gotten into an offensive rhythm. Probably helps explain why we’re so streaky… on fire, then ice cold, then back again…
the puke got cleaned up with a nice smelling kitty litter (that sounds weird). The prissy couple didn’t even stay for the whole game, and the little prissy girl in her little prissy dress spent the whole evening chatting with her girlfriends who were there with their boyfriends. I think the whole crew left in like the 6th inning.
Thank goodness I have the last two episodes of “The Killing” to watch tonight….and won’t have to subject myself to the sad performance of FG’s hapless Braves.
Never throw Uggla a fastball, just a steady diet of breaking stuff and he will K; go inside, outside with Heyward he will K or pop-up; Chipper can’t handle the heater anymore (at least since coming back from DL) from either side; McCann will pull into the shift; Diaz is a hacker, will swing at anything, even if the pitcher just walked the previous hitter on 4-straight balls, and that leaves Prado, Bourne and Simmons as the only competitive bats.
“Maybe tomorrow Chipper will DH, or maybe not. We know he doesn’t really like it.”
I know it’s blasphemy but I really don’t care what Chipper does or doesn’t like!
This team could, I said could, be out of it by the trade deadline. This is Chipper’s last season. He ain’t hitting and looks like a lightweight out there right now. By the time he gets fully healthy, he could be retired. Give him his farewell tour, his gold watch, and give Prado all the reps you can at 3rd to try and get ready for 2013.
Anyone who is really thinking that Chipper is going to get healthy and lead this team to the promised land, simply IS NOT thinking.
“Thank goodness I have the last two episodes of “The Killing” to watch tonight….and won’t have to subject myself to the sad performance of FG’s hapless Braves.”
Co-Sign! The Game on Sunday Got so Boringggg, I turned it off and started watching Teen Mom
This team at times, especially the AWFense has been unwatchable
Are there any sites where Braves fans get together to try to encourage each other about the team when they are in a losing spell?
There used to be one… but it got bought by Liberty Media… they cut way back on the bandwidth, so it can only accommodate one user at a time, and Ward has it set as him homepage.
Hello everyone! Sucks about Beachy, and I figured that he would have to have Tommy John, and was with most on that one. Feel better that Huddy is pitching tonight. Maybe there is a slight chance of hope with Huddy?
never were consistently clutch (see all the hitting coaches come and gone)
June 19th, 2012 3:47 pm
Can a Braves pitcher make it through a season now without having TJ surgery?
And can we get our position starters healthy?
If Braves don’t find capable middle relief the season is over.
Don’t worry about the hitting….they’ve been streaky for 15 years…..pitching and health is the problem today.
Yeah, they looked like Arnie’s definition of “girly-men”.
The worst part, tho, was she wasn’t done throwing up. After we left after the fireworks, thank God she had two of the big souvinier (sp?) cups. Before we got to the Lenox Mall exit on 400, she had the “hot spits” and asked me to pull off so she could get rid of those. Then, before we got to Holcomb Bridge, she really had to throw up again, so she puked in the cup. I pulled off the highway to a convenience store to let her go wash her mouth out. But it was 3 or 4 days before I could get the smell out of my new Challenger.
I don’t understand people who go to ballgames and get so drunk they yack or pass out. How much does it cost to go nowadays? $75, $100 a person if you include a few snacks, ticket, parking, etc?
getting clutch hits with RISP has always been a Braves problem. Even in their glory years.
But pitching has helped. Now their pitching is shot. Oh, what to do?
As much as I hate to say it, might be time to give up on Heyward and trade him while you can get some decent returns. Otherwise, you wait another year or two, like we did with Frenchy, and end up with a Ryan Church return
So this is how the Braves’ tailspin begins? Not in September, but in June, and at the hands of the AL East. The Yankees are primed to sweep another series from the Braves and while the Red Sox aren’t the sum of their parts right now, and also curiously managed (i.e, Bobby V has had his own share of injuries to deal with, including having not one but two entire starting outfields on the DL at some point, but he’s also prone to “what was that?” in terms of strategy and preparation), how many times do you want to poke the bear before it arises and eats you?
I don’t understand people who go to ballgames and get so drunk they yack or pass out. How much does it cost to go nowadays? $75, $100 a person if you include a few snacks, ticket, parking, etc?
I spent 60 Bucks, Vodka Shots in the lot (Peer Pressure is a Bch) A Four Loko, Bud Light Margarita, and 2 Tomaritas
I don’t understand people who go to ballgames and get so drunk they yack or pass out.How much does it cost to go nowadays? $75, $100 a person if you include a few snacks, ticket, parking, etc?
That’s one expensive cover charge.

You really want Fredi to get Ol Yellered? Who do you replace him with?
Sweet Lou Pinella?
Terry Pendleton?
Larry Bowa?
I still don’t know why so many people want him to get sent out to the pasture, Its the players (B-Macc, Ugg, Heyward, Hoss) who are cutting it….

We need to stop playing the Yankees. Matt Diaz is not a hitter and not a fielder. Should only be used to pinch hit.

So long as the ankles hold up. At this point Medlen has got to be thinking “How many guys do I have to take out before they put me in the rotation”

I don’t understand people who go to ballgames and get so drunk they yack or pass out. How much does it cost to go nowadays? $75, $100 a person if you include a few snacks, ticket, parking, etc?
That’s one expensive cover charge.

getting clutch hits with RISP has always been a Braves problem.
