You’d never guess the home team was ahead from all the bitching…
leading yanks in R H and E so far
June 19th, 201210:03 pm
Votto probably wishes he didn’t play for one of the two three managers dumber than our own, Jerry.
My point was that a large part of Votto’s value is that he doesn’t get himself out by swinging at garbage, and Uggla has done a nice job of that this year, too.
Okay, Kimbrel. You don’t need to make it interesting.
That was a pretty K!
i hope the yanks are patient here…they will be sitting 0-2 quickly
this is where Kimbrel prevents the JHey base running mistake from biting them
June 19th, 201210:04 pm
Location…speed….excellent vs. a solid veteran
I thought you don’t watch the games anymore, N8.
if i was 7′5″, i would be playing in NBA easy right now
Yep cab, Uggla is pretty “meaningless”. He’s done nothing in the season and a half that I’m impressed with. Yeah, he had a hot streak last season, but he started the season like a mutt and ended it like a mutt. And he’s headed that way again.
I can’t tell very well by looking… does Kimbrel have that “inverted W” as well?
Damn, I want to watch Kimbrel pitch.
June 19th, 201210:05 pm
Hinske needs a day off
Only a day? He’s been bad. Get him working with Walker for a full week, all week.
I would like to see him back to the old JJ and I don’t see anything wrong with that
Oh ok, sorry then. But at this point, he doesn’t inspire confidence in me, and I don’t think he needs to be here yet.
WTG Kimmeh. Looking sharp there. He’s wanted to pitch for a while now. Letting the horses loose.
GOT IT!!! Losing streak over. Nice play UGGS
Smoked and so glad we got one….no “A” bomb tonight.
Wow we won finally!!!!
June 19th, 201210:06 pm
Jerry judges hitters by batting average. ’nuff said.
Way to Go, Craig!!!!! Great win, Braves!!!!
hell yeah…maybe the yanks will figure out you don’t want to be patient against kimbo
Ahh, if only Fredi had brought Kimbrel in to face A-Rod in that “save situation” in the eighth inning last week, the Braves probably wouldn’t have ended up sliding into such a funk. Nice win Braves though!
Holy crap!! We won! We beat the stankin’ Yankees!
cricket – Like Sun Mingming?
Uh Yanks got smoked like some bitches
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
WE WON!!! And they said it couldn’t be done…
Lil' Barry Bailout (Unexpectedly Revised Downward)
Good for the Braves–didn’t think they had it in them.
Great work, Kimmeh!!!!!
June 19th, 201210:07 pm
Good win. Keep it going tomorrow!
Nice win….well coulda done without the errors.
I read a bunch f complaining on the ole blog tonight. But thatvwas a pretty good ballgame.
BARVES WIN! BARVES WIN!
Needed that win BAD!
give Kimbrel some days off, and he’s all revved up! DAMN!
How about that!
June 19th, 201210:08 pm
We stop their streak and stop our skid.
Can we get a series win tomorrow afternoon? Time will tell. I’ll be listening to the game on the road, as we’re headed up to VA.
Time to watch this Finals game. Have a good one, kids.
Kimbrel was nasty and it is so good to have another win in the books for the Braves. It would be difficult to say that the Braves played their best baseball tonight, but they battled and a win feels good.
Bravos Win………..Braves Win……..Barves Win
You are right George, Uggla, like Votto, does not swing at garbage. That’s why Uggla has struck out 79 times and Votto only 53.
June 19th, 201210:09 pm
now if Tommy can beat the resurgent Phil Hughes tomorrow the Braves can get back going down the right path. Just looking at Hughes recent work it won’t be easy at all (and at least from the Braves side we should expect a low scoring game)
June 19th, 201210:10 pm
Jer, can’t you shut the eff up about Uggla for a moment and note that the Braves won? You know, that team you root for?
sarcastic – my default mode here, man.
3.5 back in div. – blow up this lousy team
ok guys, enough celebration. make way for Fredi and Uggla haters (impartial critics, in their own cloudy eyes)
Whatever, Jerry. You’re free to keep thinking it’s 1987.
It’s an effin’ miracle!
So does this mean Fredi is safe one more day from you bashers???
Saw this online for you NBA fans…
So,I needed some change so I gave Lebron a dollar and asked for quarters. He only gave me 3 though. He said he doesn’t have a 4th quarter
And the Braves win… thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhHHHHH… Bravesssssssss… winnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!
Dan Uggla is a better hitter than Joey Votto. There, I said it. I won’t back down.
June 19th, 201210:11 pm
ok AJC you just made me install AD Blocker. Video ads are the worst of their kind and I can’t believe you have one on your site that is consistently playing every time I refresh the page
Hopefully the Braves can make it two in a row!
June 19th, 201210:12 pm
You are right George, Uggla, like Votto, does not swing at garbage. That’s why Uggla has struck out 79 times and Votto only 53.”
So this is why you pointed out Uggla shouldn’t be untouchable? Totally disregard his leadership, automatic 30 plus homers a year, and improved plate discipline to talk about things like batting average and Votto comparisons. Gotcha.
“I thought you don’t watch the games anymore, N8″
Didn’t watch a second of it tonight. Have watched about 2 innings (because my middle son is a Yankees fan) the night after I said that.
Came on the blog to read about Beachy and couldn’t resist chiming in when I saw somebody foolishly mention Uggla and Votto in the same sentence.
Seriously couldn’t care less about what happens in the games right now. Especially now with Beachy out (one of the lone things to look forward to each week). But seriously not gonna mentally get invested in this team again until Fredi is gone.
But thanks for asking.

Doubtful, Jerry. Bourn’s a lock to be at least a reserve. If Prado doesn’t make the ASG, it’s because the NL outfield is crowded. And it really is, too.
And why would Bourn make it as a reserve and not Prado? Let’s make a friendly bet (no money involved). I think Uggla cost us a chance to see either Prado or Bourn in the ASG. I don’t even wanna see Uggla butcher another chance like he did the last time.
Braves & Rays
Nats lose again. So a nice night indeed.
Durbin looked good again. Glad we kept him around.
June 19th, 201210:14 pm
ok, final one. i have to agree i am convinced by these guys.
as one said, Votto would have had gazillion RBIs if he was hitting 3rd – Fredi, listen up, don’t bat uggla 3rd anymore, man
and i vote for Votto to replace Uggla as NL 2B starter in All-star game.
Take a look at 2010 to now…. Hinske’s OBP,SLG, OPS, and OPS+ have been going down…. don’t know if he’s “done” but it’s been pretty bad. He’s working on 2 years of decline…
June 19th, 201210:15 pm
So this is why you pointed out Uggla shouldn’t be untouchable? Totally disregard his leadership, automatic 30 plus homers a year, and improved plate discipline to talk about things like batting average and Votto comparisons. Gotcha……stizz
Jesus God! You have got to be kidding!
I wonder if Powell thinks the Nats schedule is unfair too?
June 19th, 201210:16 pm
Isn’t Uggla leading the VOTING for the ASG? And your mind, Jerry, that is Uggla’s fault? I’m so confused.
Thank you, Rays! You are my AL team, so I support you all the way, but when you can beat our nasty rival Nats, I love you even more!
June 19th, 201210:17 pm
Yes. My 2nd 2nd (yes, I meant that) favorite team won! And they beat the Nats too!
Why Votto? I’m voting for Melky…
Votto and Uggla sitting in a tree. H I T T I N G
June 19th, 201210:18 pm
I’m only on page 10 and the idiot brigade trying to retire Chipper is just amazing….
Just give the man a little time and he’ll make some folks pay.
Good grief. Great win tonight!
Not bad, Brava.
Funny Brava. But even if Votto wanted to be “in a tree” with Uggla?
Uggla would probably strike out in that quest too.
June 19th, 201210:19 pm
good one Brava!
After all they’ve been through.. only 3 games out now.
Hug, why should I be concerned about whether the Braves won or not? Hell, they had to win sometime, didn’t they? Still doesn’t change the fact that they are not a very good team. And part of the reason why they aren’t very good is that man, Dan Uggla.
June 19th, 201210:21 pm
Jerry how hard were those noogies Uggla used to give you? Seems to have carried through over the years.
June 19th, 201210:22 pm
I’ll type it slow for you….3 games out, with 94 left to play…. means they’re still in the division race.
June 19th, 201210:23 pm
MLBTR says Braves looking at Garza. Could it be that they’re in it to win it? Don’t they know the guy is making 9.5 mil this year?
Brave New World
June 19th, 201210:24 pm
And that, my friends, is why we must be patient with Jason Heyward.
Tomorrow we can be two games out. Depends on who pitches, though.
Good night, Braves fans, and a good night it is!
I’m getting out of here so some of you can get started on your nightly love fest. But in closing, after the Braves lose tomorrow afternoon, I’ll be looking forward to Choker Bowl in Boston. Once and for all, we’ll see just which team is the most worthless in a head-to-head matchup.
June 19th, 201210:25 pm
If that’s the way you view a win at this point Jerry, there’s no hope for you…
Neight my middle son is a Yankees fan
Yes, the middle child is always totally neurotic…
Where are the quotes DOB ?
Be sure to have mommy put the pacifier in Jerry…
June 19th, 201210:26 pm
Jerry how hard were those noogies Uggla used to give you?
Almost as hard as the ones BMac used to give you, apparently…
I will say this for the record. Dan Uggla is NOT the reason this team has failed or is failing (or will eventually fail).
That being said, I wasn’t going to sit still while somebody typed his name with Votto’s when discussing players with similar abilities. Or saying somebody must not like Votto if they don’t like Uggla.
If the other hacks on this team were doing their jobs, Uggla would be giving the Braves and Wren EXACTLY what they expected of him when they traded for him and signed him. Which is a guy for the middle of their order who bats RH and hacks his way to 30+ HR each year.
Mac, Chipper, Heyward, Freeman, Pastornicky, Hinske, Wilson, have been injured and inconsistent.
2/3 of the big 3 in the pen aren’t as “on” as they were last year. Jurrjens sucked. Minor should be the long relief guy or in AAA working on his breaking stuff and command.
And in the end, with the baffoon wearing #33….. it really just doesn’t matter.
Uggla might not be the second coming of Joey Votto. Or even in his league. But the Braves aren’t in a tailspin because of Dan Uggla.
June 19th, 201210:27 pm
4 more interleague games left. should finish the brutal portion of the schedule.
beat the yankees tomorrow, win the serirs against the red sox, and the braves would be .500 against the AL east.
Rays setup man Joel Peralta was ejected in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s game in the nation’s capital after Nationals manager Davey Johnson asked the umpires to take a look at his glove.
The umps found a foreign substance (likely pine tar) and gave Peralta the boot while confiscating his mitt.
Peralta played for the Nationals in 2010, so the assumption is that a former teammate alerted Johnson to the right-hander’s against-policy tricks.
The Rays countered in the ninth inning, asking to see the hat of Nats reliever Ryan Mattheus. It was clean.
We have been playing poorly and yet we are just 3.5 games from first. The season is young, and the Braves will turn things around.
June 19th, 201210:28 pm
Good game tonight, fun to watch.
Kimbrel smoked their asses
“Yes, the middle child is always totally neurotic…”
It’s deeper than that though. He’s very competitive with his older brother and strives to be different. My oldest son is a Braves and Chiefs fan like me. So my middle guy wanted no part of that. The Yankees and Colts are his team. Likely because they were “good” when he decided to follow sports.
Really nothing more than that. I’m actually glad one of them was smart enough to avoid the Braves and Chiefs. Pretty much saved himself a lifetime of pain and misery. LOL
June 19th, 201210:29 pm
Is it that time of the month for Jerry, again?
June 19th, 201210:30 pm
Are the Braves in a tailspin or are they in a ten game funk?
June 19th, 201210:31 pm
Missed the game but caught the 9th on the radio. I really enjoyed listening to Powell and of course Kimbrel kicked ass and took names.
June 19th, 201210:32 pm
That’s funny, there’s always one child in a family that strives to be totally different. My youngest brother is cuckoo like that – 49ers & Spurs for him. Atlanta-born and raised too.
Neight LOL. Agreed.
Yes. I speak from first-hand experience…
Ah, yeah, some folks like to be different…Nothing really wrong with that—obviously he’s free to follow any team he wants to…
…Except the Mets…
June 19th, 201210:33 pm
Almost as hard as the ones BMac used to give you, apparently…”
If Mac ain’t hitting, he’s useless. I don’t think anybody will argue that. Everybody else on the team can provide either speed, defense, leadership, baserunning or a combination of all when they aren’t producing offensively.
I understand that could be hard for you to grasp under the Mac goggles.
That is cuckoo…
June 19th, 201210:34 pm
Can they get tht camera any closer to DOB? UGH!
N8, at least your middle child isn’t a Mets fan.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
