If Beachy goes out for the season it might give Fredi a pass for the rest of the year

Even if he is healthy, I’d be shocked if Wren pulled the trigger and cut him loose.

Yeah, but…if Beachy’s absence causes the season to worsen so much that Fredo could get a free pass, what does that say about Frank? Pitching, pitching everywhere and nary a drop to drink? That would make the reluctance to trade pitching ever look pretty foolish.

If the team cannot bear the loss of a single pitcher, no matter his level of performance, then the evaluation of all the pitching that has been kept for depth becomes very suspect.

I don’t usually like to criticize, but I do have an honest question. If Freeman is so hurt (only was able to make a fist yesterday), why can’t he be DL’ed? I don’t remember when it’ll be retroactive to, but it would be nice to have a body at first than is hitting (not Hinske) And not Prado either, cuz then Fatcisco plays 3rd. Won’t Freddie also need a rehab stint when he is ready to come back, or is he ready to go like Chipper was…

Fredi lost that game, not Venters. Took Minor out too early, and too stubborn to pull Venters and have Kimbrell come in while the game was hanging in the balance in the 8th. And the Livan throw-away game?

Not to mention his lack of hit-and-run, lack of steals, causing balks, poor pinch-hit choices and lack of fire with the umps…

I am so off the Fredi bandwagon.

I don’t know, scoots. We got hit pretty hard if Beachy does go down. Viz, Beachy with UCL injuries, Hanson with diminished performance due to the shoulder, Jurrjens not nearly the same pitcher. I don’t think we’ll be under .500 to finish the year, but if we lose Beachy, that’s probably the difference between us and the divison/wild card.

I’m not off the bandwagon, the overall record isn’t terrible. I knew they weren’t going to be the 27 yankees or anything. What I don’t understand is why this team has such a hard time getting any consistency at all at the plate. It’s just kind of bizarre why they have so many guys slump at one time over several seasons.

We knew 90 games was going to be difficult for this linup to win prior to the season but they are still right around that pace. They are still in the playoff hunt, they just need to play better. The positive to me is if we know if they do get on a hot streak they can win games in bunches, would be nice if that would happen should they get to the playoffs.

Hope Chipper can get it turned about, he’s looking pretty bad since he came back. Love him but we were actually in a groove before he returned. I remember seeing the Cardinal faithful wave the white flag when Wainwright went down last year.

Losing Backgammon would be a huge punch in the gut no doubt, but this is where you tend to see someone else unexpectedly up their game and make a name for themself in the absence of his predecessors. Delgado may be doing that right now.

Backgammon may very well be an example of this, too…stepping up in the absence of Jurrjens and Hanson last season.

all the comparisons to old pitchers are pretty meaningless. They used windups that garnered a lot of momentum and took straion off the arm. the abbreviated windup of today, you can barely call them that actually, do not do that so for the pitchers who do not get real good leg drive, they try to speed up the arm alone, inverted ws,cocked wrists, extreme scapula loads, etc. usually leads to timiing problems which isolate the arm even more. not a good thing

Freeman had that 3 week hot streak and then disappeared. Perhaps he disappeared because of his eyes or other problems, but he disappeared. So it seems we’re still singing the blues that part of our problem is that his “star power” isn’t in the lineup. His star power is non-existent except for those 3 weeks he was hot.

I don’t dislike Freeman. In fact, I think he is a star in the making. I think he will be everything most people thought he would be. I hope he is.

I just hate to hear people looking for excuses for this team. Hearing that the Braves struggles are in part due to Freeman not being in the lineup when he wasn’t hitting anyway is pretty much BS. Had Freeman been sidelined when he was scorching the ball and the offense waned, I would agree but he hasn’t hit well in weeks even before he started sitting and watching his team mates struggle.

Just accept it. The Braves stink right now. People aren’t doing their jobs and that includes players and management/coaches. People continue to whine about the Braves bad luck but didn’t someone say that “its funny that the harder I work, the luckier I am!” ?
