“During August and September, you’d hate to see games blown because they felt compelled to use Livan Hernandez in the fifth inning of a still-winnable game.”
Sick burn, DOB, I love it
A-Rod pops out with 2 on for 2nd out
Taylor – most people hate the tex trade to the angels more than getting him to the braves
June 12th, 20127:19 pm
Why was the Yankees 1B coach pointing at the ball? It’s like he was helping Freddie.
Good job Minor!
June 12th, 20127:20 pm
way to hang in there Mike
Way to get out of it Minor.
June 12th, 20127:21 pm
He wiggled out of that jam pretty well.
Gotta win this game.
Oh and by the way…who was it that said a platoon with Heyward was not possible?
@Va Braves fan — Kotchman never did live up to what he was supposed to be even with the Angels, he is an average player when he has been good, but to have Kotchman replace a star like Tex, that was in insult to Braves fans.
Would have been better off taking back the draft choices instead of Kotchman/Marek.
Kotchman does not hit with enough power or drive in enough runs. He was good but not great in 07.
Tex for Kotchman and Merek ended up as a terrible trade. But like I said the Braves thought they were still getting a 290/370/450 hitter in Kotchman.
June 12th, 20127:22 pm
Disgusted…you’re so lost I actually feel bad for you.
Dale Murphy makes a great point on the broadcast….If Minor can keep the yankees in check and have a good game his confidence should go way up.
100 according to the stadium scoreboard. Might be off a tad bit, eh.
Gil In Mechanicsville
It is tough when a young pitcher, not named Strasburg, can’t get a call on the black. The Washington rookie gets calls even Tom Glavin didn’t get.
This may have already been mentioned but whyis McCann hitting 3rd against a lefty?
June 12th, 20127:23 pm
Good job by Mike to get out of the two on situation.
Bourn continues that hitting streak… he’s on fire!!!
Here we go!!
On that pop out to first, clearly in foul ground, the ump pointed skyward for the infield fly rule anyway. If it’s dropped in foul ground, obviously the rationale for the rule doesn’t come into play.
So why call ARoid out automatically that way when it’s a foul ball? Is it just the rule, period, is it discretionary depending on how close to the line it is or just what?
June 12th, 20127:24 pm
Of course Kotchman was a huge step down from Tex, but still at only 25 years old and the season he had in 2007 we thought he’d be pretty good. 372 OBP 840 OPS 37 Doubles is not bad.
Nice hit, Michael!
Blue just gave CC a strike thats was more outside than Beach’s…
Good start, Michael!
he should bunt with the way things have been going lately
June 12th, 20127:25 pm
Why is Mac batting 3rd?
June 12th, 20127:26 pm
That was me MFin. I didn’t think Fredi would really do it, and he hasn’t committed to it yet. We’ll see….
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
June 12th, 20127:27 pm
Watch it, will ya?…
Bourn has hit leadoff 1st-inning single in four of past five games, and had a leadoff walk in the game before that.
Maybe Mac can put it out of reach of Toilet Boy (get it, Swisher?.
2k91, McCann is batting third using the same convoluted thought process that has Diaz in LF, rather than the redhot Heyward. Common sense and logic just goes out the window!
I will always appreciate Mikey’s work here even if he wars another uni next yr which I expect him to.
An rooting for Frenchy too, regardless how it ended. Will do the same for Mc Cann.
It will not feel good being a farm system for the rest of MLB, but will always like the players who serves so well here.
I even rooted for Tommy G. when he was a Met so long as it was not vs us.
Mac caint do anything right…..
that little turtle has helped already…
June 12th, 20127:28 pm
You’re welcome people.
“372 OBP 840 OPS 37 doubles” and ZERO runs scored. He was the slowest human being I’ve ever seen play a sport. McCann looks like Bourn compared to Kotchman.
Not quite what I was wanting, but very close.
Yay, a Double!!
Stupid rule! Even when he gates a hit, he gets robbed!!…
Sabathia looks very hittable so far. Good double by Mac, tough break.
Terrible break with our luck….
Great double, BMac! And somehow it figures it bounced over the dang fence!
I’d like to order an Uggla tater now, please.
Damn… Bourn would have scored.
That rule need changing
Soon we can see all star Matt Diaz prove Fredi right
Damn bad luck on the bounce
Atta boy, Heap
That seems to happen to the Braves much too frequently.
Doofus(Goober and Gomer's Smart Brother)
June 12th, 20127:29 pm
McFann, don’t remember now what you were “right about”, but you were. I learned a long time ago a lady is right, even when she’s wrong!
the most patient man on braves will walk
Maybe Mac can only hit pitchers who are bigger than him….
June 12th, 20127:30 pm
Works every time.
Why is Diaz batting 5th?
Matty D, you better make this worth it…..
Not at all comfortable with Uggla walking and Matty D at the plate.
Ok, lefty killer….
Another walk for Uggla.
I want bases loaded for Diaz so he can hit a home run and we can have a bunch of people saying that Fredi’s decision was the right call…………..
Nice AB, Dan!
Bases loaded for…. Diaz?
Okay, MattE, here’s your chance!
June 12th, 20127:31 pm
I love the walks by Uggla.
Kotchman will never see 20 HRs and 80 RBI’s in his lifetime Va Brave.
Guess we can agree to disagree. As it turned out, Kothcman and Brandon Wood who were supposed to be so highly ranked by BB America in 05 were disappointments, Kotchman is a journeyman major league guy and Wood was a BUST with a capital B.
Baseball America is not right alot of the time. That is why I do not get excited about prospects. I believe it when I see it.
Look how the Baby Braves let us down (save for Mc Cann).
please no dp…
make phat boy work
Come on Diaz… He blows this the blog will explode and I’ll be part of it.
Didn’t realize that Uggla’s OBP was so high (.385 before that walk), but I can believe it.
Holy crap, look at Diaz!!!!!!!!
Ladies aren’t always right, but McFann is right more than she is wrong…
Nice to see Matty D….. look at that speed by Uggs… Mac couldn’t have done that…
Any further questions?
Fredi is a friggin GENIUS
June 12th, 20127:32 pm
Great hit, Matty D!!!!
MATTEE!!!! YOU ROCK!!
HAHAH! Fredi was right!!! Heyward would of never done that!!!
Woohoo!!! Matty D!!!!!!!!
Hello Matty D. Haters………..Not bad heh…………
But it won’t matter with Minor pitching….sigh?
Good job, MattE. Guess Fredi’s a genius now.
That’s why Matt Diaz is in the line up tonight…
Diaz eats CC alive
Matt Diaz owns CC Sabathia!!!!!!!!!!!!!
worthless POC Diaz with three meaningless ribbies. guy should not be in the bigs at all.
Greg Walker all smiles in Dugout..
Now let’s just hope Livan doesn’t get in the game and we might actually have a chance.
I’m not talking about now, Kotchman sucks…. LOL I’m just pointing out that the Braves thought they were getting someone capable of being a Mark Grace or Sean Casey type 1st baseman. I agree he isn’t good. I’m just pointing out why they like Kotchman.
June 12th, 20127:33 pm
Sooo…like I was saying earlier…
Fredi plays the numbers and it works.
Good rip, Matty.
I guess Fredi was wrong for starting Diaz huh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was fun and I love Uggla’s hustle. Minor needs to make this lead stand.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
